NEED HELP 1992 Toyota 4Runner 3.0

Looking for some advice on my 3.0 Toyota 4Runner. I have done the headgaskets, EGR delete, and it's still running crummy. HELP!

I had similar symptoms. I finally took the fuel pulsation damper off at the back of the passenger fuel rail. It wasn't leaking like most failures, but the screw was loose under the cap. You can't just slap the screw back in. Replace it. It can make a lot of strange fuel issues happen. Good luck!

CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner spray, you must absolutely use a OEM Denso oxygen sensor installed properly. It must be an authentic sensor from authorized Denso distributor. Don't trust mechanics to do this type of stuff. They buy whatever Delco or Dorman or other garbage. Also run a tank gas with BG 44K Platinum...Great stuff. Why did you block hot air from the engine from going to throttle body?

that year and engine has a recall for head gaskets. Toyota would of done everything for you for free. They should reimburse you for parts and labor. It happened to me. I have a 92 SR5 3.0. If you ever have another problem with head gaskets, take it to any Toyota dealer and tell them you want to do the head gasket recall. Toyota also honed my cylinders for free. They are using a different type of head gasket that was originally used. I now have 500,000 miles on my engine no problem. The head gaskets blown at 100,000.

Surely that warranty work is over, these engines are 30 years old now

@@lsxbird7874 I actually had mine replaced twice on warranty. Mine is 1992. Once in early 90s right after I bought it, and again around 2005 when they blew again. Now it has 500,000 miles on it and still running strong. I took it to two separate dealers. The first time Toyota didn’t tell me about the recall and I paid out of my pocket. I then learned about the recall and they had to pay me back.

@@lsxbird7874 it's a special service campaign, never ends. As long as the vehicle was listed in the campaign then they will go through with it. Contacting Toyota will get you further than some dealerships, some dealerships play dumb about it and other's go through with it.

First off, it's a 3vze not a 3vre... Second, it sounds like your catalytic converter is clogged. That is what the rattling is under the truck. Basically your truck is wheezing under idle because it can't breathe out.

Thanks for the comment. I knew I was wrong as soon as i said 3vre. Any advice for a clogged cat? Is there a possibility of just shoving something through it?(I've heard that mentioned before) Or am I better off just getting rid of it? I want to do things as right as possible, but its also a $1200 car thats quickly gathering Northern New York salt rot on the bottom, so I'm not against any option that will get it running down the road alot better.

Im not usually an automotive mechinic. As a matter of fact I don't like it much at all. I am mostly a motorcycle, atv and small engine mechinic. Antique Motorcycle mechanic by trade. So, excuse me if I am unknowledgeable in some areas

@@rednecknewyork since you have already deleted your EGR system I'm guessing you don't need the cat. So I would just get a high flow muffler and enjoy. I personally have done the intake silencer removal, headers and a 2 n half inch pipe with a big muffler.

I have also donethe egr delete as well as flamethrower fuel injectors, a 7mge AFM swap, headers and a 2 n half inch muffler pipe. She goes like a bat outta hell

I just did all the same shit but when I had the heads off I had em decked flat and new valve seats/guides/1 cam cause a lobe was wiped out new valve seats and all new valves..every exhaust valve was burned and leaking compression into exhaust. Do a leak down test and you’ll see if you Got anything related to valves going wrong
