REALLY USEFUL LINKS IN THIS DESCRIPTION 😊

****************
Camino de Santiago packing list brand new for 2023. It doesn't matter if you are starting from Sarria and doing the last 100km, or doing the full Camino Frances from St Jean Pied de Port, this list of what to pack for the Camino de Santiago is fine for the Camino Portuguese,Camino del Norte, Camino Primitivo, Camino Baztan, and in fact they are exactly where this backpack will be going this year.
I've made a few more changes on this camino packing list to save weight where it matters to make a super lightweight but not minimalistic pack.

Dave! Love your kit videos and the torch on the bag is a winner and one that we hadn't thought about on our walk! The best gear list for the Camino I’ve seen. I’ve done the camino, and am an American thru-hiker, so I bring that ultralight mindset which is totally absent from most Camino gear lists videos. I knew you meant business when I saw that Atoms Pack. Serious props for cutting the sealskinz to use as gaiters. Never thought of that. If you haven’t already, check out the Pacific Crest Trail or Appalachian Trail. You won’t get great Spanish wine every night, but sleeping under the stars can’t be beat.
@NickLivingLife

That’s a huge compliment, thank you. America has most of the big thru-hikes I still want to do. I just need to UK economy to improve a bit so I can afford food resupply in the States….and then I’m there. Thanks again for the comment, it’s really appreciated 😊

I really wanted to do the PCT a few years ago but California was on fire. I went back last year just to do the small Trans-Catalina trail and went for a hike around San Jacinto, also figured out about visas so I don’t have to do it in 2 halves, so PCT is just a money thing now (along with the other 2 👑). USA is just so expensive right now, everything is double the cost. I’ll get there though 😊

Great video Nick, envious of the custom pack! A light is really good idea, my dog has one. I might have to swipe it from him when he's not looking. Sensible choices for all your gear, I like the homemade gaitors. Cheers!

Good morning Nick, I’m Brian from Gibraltar & thinking of walking the Camino this coming September. Your videos are simply great & I’m finding them very helpful, thanks for taking your time in sharing these, much appreciated. Thanks & continue to keep safe.

Haha. It’s the best thing ever. Pull it down when it rains, lift it up like a belt when it stops. No need to stop walking and hop about trying to put other things on. I obviously wont wear it at home to go to the pub on a rainy night though 😂😂

@NickLivingLife
@NickLivingLife 5 ай бұрын
You are very welcome. This is an Atom+ in 50 ltr size. The 40 size would also be more than enough for Camino. I need a bit more room for my video making stuff😊
@leigha6275
@leigha6275 5 ай бұрын
@@NickLivingLifeThank you. It was the one piece of info I didn't hear or see in the video (it's possible I missed it). I fully agree with you on the size - my partner and I could get by with even 35L, and think 40 is more than enough for a camino with lodging along the way. However, like you we'd probably use 50L as we tend to for backpacking for camera gear and for having some space to help friends along the way who may be struggling with their carried weight (we have very lightweight gear but often wind up helping carry things for other people on backpacking trips).

Could you link to that lightweight down jacket please?
@NickLivingLife
@NickLivingLife 3 ай бұрын
I’m not sure that particular one is available anymore. It was called “Next to Nothing” by a brand called Yeti who have now been purchased by Nordisk. Nordisk are making jackets that appear to be very similar so something similar should be available through them. As a guide to compare to their more modern designs, my jacket weighs 260 grams which is about 9 oz and uses crystal down at 950 full power. Another jacket well worth checking out is a synthetic super lightweight one called Torrid Jacket by Enlightened Equipment which is hugely popular on the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails right now. Hope that helps. 😊😊

Not bad at all. 😁 The best and most realistic low weight Camino kit video I've seen. Does the Atom pack feel sweaty against your back? I have a Roo (waist pack) and really love it. Bought for my Camino but always in use because it's so convenient. Holds so much more than you expect!
@NickLivingLife
@NickLivingLife Жыл бұрын
Not too sweaty at all but of course it hasn’t been very hot here yet. I’m sure I’ll get more sweat than with the Exos I used last time with it’s net back support, but I think a lot of the pros of the Atom+ will really compensate. Got to love the Roo! 😊

@Nick Living Life I look forward to hearing how you get on. I have an Eja 38 and did wonder about a small Atompack as I don't fill my Eja. My base weight is about 5.5kg so not as light as you. 😊
@NickLivingLife
@NickLivingLife Жыл бұрын
@@carolinesaunders6656 I’ll be heavier in the end this time, as I will be adding a drone and a camera pole that extends to 3m at the end which is about another 1.5kg so I’ll be nearer 6kg I think. 😵‍💫 I’ll walk a bit slower this year 😂
