I took a break from cotw before the treestand updates. I've recently come back and whitetail exist again! Hurray. For the longest time my Layton only had black tail.

Hey brutha, first off congrats. Your channel is great. I am an IRL hunter and love playing this game in the off season (based in CA). I was wondering if you could do a video walking us thru the scoring system of the game, especially after the TRUracs 2.0 update (specifically what are the factors leading up to a diamond, and if the Truracs update holds across all reserves and dlcs). I go for zones a lot, but at the same time, I love just wandering around or picking up a trail and following an animal or a group until I see them, stalk them and take my shot.

I hunt canada geese to grind money. One of the fields in hirschfelden always has 1-2 flocks fly over every 2-3 minutes for me and will land with 15-20 goose decoys in a small area. All my hunting pressure on the map is in that one area and they still land.

Why are some need zones so empty during their time? I've hung around blacktail feeding areas for an hour or more and never seen one, completely concealed with perfect view of it

Have you killed in the zone before? If you have more than 3 kills in any zone animals stop showing up there until releasing kill pressure by killing elsewhere.

@@MrRaja I have a rest zone of black bear and they never went, I was tracking a potential gold one and it take me to his test zone, I put a tent and waited to next morning, they never come back, no black bear at all and there is not hunting pressure

I always find myself wondering when certain species that I dont hunt often have there drink zones active, could you possibly do a video going through the species and when you have found there zones to be active

I was wondering why nothing was showing up at stand but i was finding. tracks of 4 or 5 deer but not at hunting stands i just purchased. I still made like 30 grand but this just changed the game for me. Your videos are my go to vids

Have you checked the need zones and what time those animals should be there? That or do you have a tent close to those zones? Sometimes you have to do far enough out of their render as well.

@@Flintergaming yeah man found deer at a drinking zones and feeding zones there was heaps of them i took down3 of them then i tracked moose took down 3 of then i found elk and took 4 of them haha then i went to bed. I've only had the game for 4 days and thats the most ive taken down in 2 hours. . Deffintly a game changer. I was ignoring the the rest zones and not tracking them so they were not spawning haha soon as i did that animals are popping up every where haha

Idk of need zones are random but there's a spot I stay around where there is about ten need zones around a lake, its a brilliant place to get money it's at the bottom left of the Layton map

A greater number of need zones, greater population of animals? And greater the population generated, greater the number of possible diamonds? That is the question I always wanted to know

As far as we can tell, no. Amount of need zones has nothing to do with the number of animals. There seems to be a set amount of animals per species, so you will never have more or less moose, deer, bear, etc. than when you started.

we have actually done loadout videos :D there is a shared playlist where Zaggi and I have gone through our loadouts. the only thing is they aren't updated for weapon pack 3. Mainly because you can replace the 7mm with the .30-06, but thats about it :D

So using that 6 different time schedule for the whitetail, does that mean he has 2 different eating and sleep zones, or does he visit each of those twice in a day? Well, 3 in the case of the rest. Does he sleep in a zone from 21:00 to 0:00 then wake up and go to another zone?

Great vid Flinter. One follow up question - maybe I'm over thinking this. when you said that X animal will always be drinking at that need zone during X time. Can we assume then that the animal will only bounce between 3 specific zones or can it be at 'any' drinking zone at that particular time? Is there a known distance between a drink zone > feed zone > rest zone? Etc. Or am I just really over thinking it? (Does my question even make sense? lol)

What's the deal with the wolves? I find so many drink and eat zones for them yet they are NEVER THERE during that time. I know I didn't kill that animal... Wolves also don't respond to the lures, they're just constantly running.

I am still confused - what is the difference between a 'need' zone and the other zones? I get that a drink zone is where they come to drink, a feed zone is where they go to eat, but what makes a 'need' zone?

All "zones" are "need zones", it's interchangeable. Animals NEED to drink, eat, and rest - those are the 3 zones in the game you can find, people just interchange "need zones" and just "zones" but when anyone mentions zones they're talking about need zones.

Nice video! Question: Some of the animals have 2 different drinking times for example on my map blacktail drink from 5:00-9:00 and I have a few zones where they drink again at 17:00-21:00. This being said, do ALL blacktail on my map drink at 5:00-9:00 somewhere or do like 3/4 of them drink in the morning and 1/4 of them drink in the evening?

all blacktail drink from 5-9 and again from 1700-2100. the 5-9 zones are usually not in the same place as the 1700-2100 zones, so check your lakes at both time frames :D

One thing I still don't understand: I read that it takes 3-6 days in game for animals to respawn, so when the drink time for whitetails is 8:00 - 11:00am like in Rancho and for example it's 12pm now, does it count if I just reset the time to 8am? Is it the "next day" then? Or is it still the same day? Idkkk

When you kill an animal at a zone does a new one spawn in to take its place or do you lose the zone after you kill all the animals for that zone?

new animals spawn to replace ones you've shot (and harvested, unharvested animals basically return fully healthy when you relaunch the game)

I keep running into the issue that animals are not showing up the their zones at the specified times or a lot of the times instead of a while heard it's just one doe. Why is this? Even zones i havnt hunted much. Will they not show up if im in the zone when the time for them to be there comes?

Hi. I just started to play this awesome game two weeks ago. I have two questions for you. 1 - Im trying to take the picture of two bears together. I go to one of the zones early and I hide and I stand there waiting for the animals to arrive, but they never arrive, it's areas without pressure. They sense Im hide there? 2 - Im doing the missions, and Im nivel 21, 49000XP. Do you know why Im not see none animals classified as Diamond?

Soft points, always stay back behind the shoulder a bit. They don’t always have the penetration to punch through. Polys you can aim anywhere at the vitals. Almost any weapons with polys will reach vitals through the shoulder or anything in the way :)

Look around the area for tracks

Go back to the same location and roughly the same time, try to find him again and track him down till you find his zone. Or you could just shoot him as soon as you see him.

go back where you saw him last at the same time you saw it they usually travel the same routes

Question: When searching for zones are they only active during the respective times? ie whitetail drink time is 1200-1500 is that the only time I can "identify" the zone or if I pass by at say 1000 will there be any indication that there is a drink zone there? thx

Thanks for the vid!! My question would be where to level in the game after lv 30? Haven't even touched anything other than Layton and hirshfelden( just hunting geese for fast money) cause the maps are so big and I really need to level rn to get the spotting in gun skill(didn't have enough money to reset my stalker tree).

Honestly the best thing to do to level up, is probably run the rivers on layton between 5-9. (In that time frame you'll have black tail and elk drinking, and whitetail and moose feeding. Just run the rivers and shoot everything you see! 😀👍

I think I remember hearing somewhere that after X amount of kills at animals performing that action (i.e feeding at a feed zone) that need zone gets removed. This true?

If you shoot more than 3 animals in a zone, the zone gets destroyed. But if you use a tripod you can kill up to 15 animals until the zone gets removed I think

Great content and lots of help for a new player like myself, but one question about animals and need zones. I found 592kg moose need zone before I had to get off last night, but it was in a multiplayer session(that I was hosting). Will it still spawn back to that zone?

So if there is a need zone with 1 animal and you kill it does one take its place and if so how long does it take to take its place

What happens if I claim e.g a water zone from animal A but I already have a water zone from animal B at this location? Will the zone be overwritten or do animals share their zones, as long as they are not predator & prey? What is the long term consequence, when a need zone is accidentially destroyed by causing Hunting pressure 4. Will the animal claim it back, once the pressure is neutralized?

They should just share the zone. As far as deleting a zone goes, the zone will be deleted forever, but the animal should make a new zone within a 600 meter radius!! 👍
