I work in the animal industry and most owners abuse their pets from sheer ignorance and neglect. So this warms my heart to see a pet Dad who did his research and also spends time learning about Rockets individual needs. Well done. I had an iguana for 18 years and he was just like this. Followed me everywhere and we had just an amazing bond. He passed away sleeping on me right over my heart a few years ago. This man is a great iguana Dad. So wonderful to see.

This is so true. I’ve had two iguanas in my life at separate times. The first was raised from a hatchling. He was 10 y/o and 6.5’ long when he contracted pneumonia and was in the hospital for 2 weeks before he passed away. We cried like babies. Our second Iguana was a rescue. This video is spot on. Iguanas can have the disposition of a dog. Males come into ‘season’ and personalities change and can be very aggressive and harmful. They’re exotics that are very expensive to keep, as they need a heated, humid habitat at times. They love to climb and can destroy curtains and furniture. They can be loving and climb into your lap, up your chest to the top of your head. They love the highest point in a room. If they get sick you have to find a vet that treats/hospitalizes exotics…sometimes you have to travels and hour or more one way to get treatment. Do your research before making a decision.

People need to know that the cute little iguana they see in the store will get that big before they get it for their kids. Too many get dumped once they start getting big & kids lose interest. They are a big responsibility demanding long-term commitment. Thank you for being a great care giver.

My family had a huge Iguana like this growing up so I'm always on the look out for these kinds of videos. Huge props to that awesome dude for doing the research to be a good Iguana dad. I remember our Iguana acting a lot like this. He had a big open enclosure and would walk around the house, always wanted attention and scritches. Always relaxed on the couch with us, knew his name and would come to us etc. It hurts me that a lot of people don't seem to believe me when I say that Lizards can be affectionate and trained like dogs can.

This really surprised me, love Rocket and his owner is a good dude.

You are an excellent pet owner! Iguanas are particularly difficult to keep unless you live in Florida. Their needs for high heat, high humidity and lots of sunlight is difficult in most places, even California. You are an informed exotic pet owner, and it warms my heart to see a pampered pet with a kind and knowledgeable owner. Great job. Rocket looks fabulous!
