My feeling is that if you want to learn a subject at postgraduate level, you should read a textbook. However, if your only aim is to pass the exam, perhaps you should concentrate on exam technique with a question bank and mock exams. Some people say they passed having read no textbook, just their undergraduate notes and the NICE Guidelines. As a prospective patient, I would feel happier if my doctor had read a textbook. I haven't asked enough candidates to work out what the best strategy is nowadays. Personally I read Davidson (not enough on its own), Rubenstein & Wayne (Lecture Notes on Clinical Medicine), small books on all the individual specialties plus Medicine Magazine (40 years ago) and went through a couple of MCQ books, but that was in the days before on-line learning.

@@AceurMRCP i already shared few screenshots with my wife who is a specialist practicing in India, I enjoyed the MD IMT comparison and MRCP not being mandatory, and required only for further specialization. I've heard of MRCP, FRCP, etc but where does it stand in the pyramid from transitioning from medical school to being a specialist is something I understood from your video. BTW my partner just landed a job in Australia and we're excited to begin our Australia journey! Let me know if you've plans to move there. Cheers!

Nicely explained , I would like to add that now Neet pg is not one liner based ,Nbe has changed the pattern since neet 202o and now 3-4 line concept based questions are asked more ,Mrcp has longer questions and 5 options though ,more difficult than neet questions but neet course is huge .

Dear Prudvi Yes technically you can apply provided you have attained all the competencies at par with a internal medicine trainee in the UK. The last selection process has made it very easy to achieve this if you have NHS experience. So I would recommend come in early into the UK either through MTI or after completing MRCP , achieve all the competencies needed and then apply for specialty training.

How long does it take to prepare PACES by self with a friend , as i am practicing MO in my country in IM department regularly .

I would say give yourself at least 4- 6 months to prepare. Also, invest in a good course before you attempt your exam.

Mam i have a doubt 1. If I finish all my mrcp parts without any medicine experience will my mrcp is valid? Will they give me the degree or i have to finish the required competency to get the mrcp degree? For example: I graduated and completed my internship let say i have 1.5years of work experience and cleared all parts of my mrcp . Will they give me the degree or i have to complete the competency(like 3 years) ?

Hi Nitish If you pass the exam , you will get the degree.As I have discussed in this 3 part video series, MRCPUK doesn't come with any competency or training.Obviously, 1.5 years clinical experience can never be the same as 3 years clinical experience.Nevertheless, you will get the degree if you are successful in the exam.

Hi Saket It is difficult to pinpoint a specific number as not all questions have the same marks. It depends on the difficulty level of the questions and the proportion of the candidates who got a certain number of questions right. Post exam, relax. Don't worry about the results. Think positive, I am sure you will pass. I will answer this question for you when you appear for Part 2.All the best.

Hello.. i am currently pursuing md anaesthesia from a reputed medical College in India.. bt i want to do MRCP as well. Can an md anaesthetist pursue mrcp while doing pg? And can u pls tell do i need to take permission from my college to pursue MRCP while doing MD?

Hi Yes , definitely . MRCP + Anaesthesia is a combination very much in demand in the UK. I don't think you need any permission as such.

Hi, It is not DAMS or Marrow. It is your knowledge that needs to be correctly applied for solving MRCP questions. As I have suggested in this video, self assessing your NEET PG knowledge against a MRCP question bank is a smart way to approach this. The answer to your question on ideal time for MRCP part 2 is given in this video. After MRCP part 1 you can apply for MTI posts in the UK. Please watch my MTI video for more details.

I am Dr. Ishita Mondal, MBBS graduate in the year of 2020 from India. Currently I am working as a Resident Medical Officer in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I will be moving to London in August’22. In parallel, I am planning to appear for PLAB (Part A) examination in 2023 and taking preparation for the same. I have few queries regarding PLAB and GMC to start my career at UK (London). It would be really helpful, if you can kindly clarify the queries below: • Can I work having dependent VISA as a doctor in London, whereas my husband will be holding ICT Tier2 skilled work VISA (LT) • Can I get any jobs in London as a MBBS graduate with only English test certification till I clear PLAB (both part A & part B) and get the GMC registration number? If yes, then how to start searching

Hi Ishita You can definitely work as a doctor on a dependent visa provided you have GMC registration, which you can apply for once you have successfully completed PLAB. You can do clinical attachments in the UK while preparing for PLAB which are usually unpaid roles.

Hi Ravish For training jobs , general medicine on calls are compulsory for specialities like Endo, acute medicine, Cardio, Gastro , Nephrology etc. Some of these specialities have speciality specific on calls as well eg Cardiology.For non training jobs , you can choose roles that do not come with on calls albeit with a lower salary.

Hi, im a neetpg aspirant . I REALLY HATE MUGGING UP AND MEMORY BASED INDIAN EXAMS.I could not get a medicine seat here in neet(general merit candidate) I would like to pursue Internal medicine via MRCP coz my im confident about my concepts. Will i be able to get trained under IMT in the Royal colleges if i clear mrcp 1,2 ??? Please answer , i could not find an answer to this thing, as this could change a life:)

Hi Unfortunately, MRCP is not a pathway to enter into IMT training. Clearing Part 1 and Part 2 will give you added advantage, but you need to have a set of competencies before you can apply for IMT. Also, you would need GMC registration before you can apply for IMT. Please watch the video 3 of this three part video series to know all about IMT. I will upload the video soon.

Very valid point, Vrajesh.Earlier there was a difference between the three colleges and London was always preferable for exam location, available slots, etc. Recently, this has been changed. Now, the RCPs are united for the exam purpose and no longer do you need to choose anyone. The degree will come as MRCPUk and not as MRCP London or Edin. All the best.

Hi Pavan MRCP is one of the criteria for entering into speciality training. You have to get all your competencies signed off in order to enter speciality training. This can be achieved by working in a non training job in the UK initlally.

No. Even if you manage to pass the complete MRCP directly after internship, you will still not be exempted from internal medicine training IF you want to go on to sub-specialty training in the UK.

Hello madam I am an MD Medicine doctor from India and have been following all your videos for long I have attended for MRCP-1 this feb madam and had a decent attempt I have few doubts regarding MRCP future prospects and wish you wud clear me from them, at your will madam 1. As I have finished my MD medicine, what is the flow chart I have to follow to join in SPECIALITY TRAINING, after clearing MRCP ? Few say I have to join IMT, others say I can join as junior doctor and work for an year or half to apply for ST. Please clear this big doubt of mine madam. 2. Can you please release PDFs related to high yield topics from all departments for MRCP-2 madam, which wud help us lot more ? 3. After attaining CCT, I came to know that we can become a consultant in UK. Can we practice with the same degree in countries like switzerland, australia, NZ madam ? Thank you 🙂

Hi Ramu 1.After MD medicine, you don't need to do IMT but you would need NHS experience before you would be able to apply for Specialty training. You can either complete MRCP, get GMC registration and start working in a non training post before you start working in the UK or you can do MTI. I would suggest the latter as MTI would be perfect for you to start your career sooner in the UK and MRCP will take you miuch longer. CCT allows to work as a consultant in certain other countries but it also depends on your CV as a whole not just CCT. All the best

Hi Kanagavalli This would depend on what you define as valid. MD paediatrics is not valid for a GMC resgistration which is a must to be eligible for working in the UK. However, this degree is highly respected, valued by NHS employers and consultants and also gives you an edge if you want to apply for speciality training in the UK.
