Neewer Sling Bag Review aka Altura Sling Bag (Holds XT2 with booster and two extra lenses)

Great bag for my XT2 with booster and two extra lenses. In the extra compartment I hold my Zoom H2N external mic, lens cleaner and few other goodies. Side connector for a tripod (best for a light weight travel tripod). Rain cover included but for a drizzle etc I sprayed the bag with a water repellent spray for backpacks/tents. I like this one over many other sling bags out there that I got to try at B&H. For around $30 you cannot beat this deal. Simply love the bag.

Peter Orford Appreciate your kind words. This is a very good bag. However it's one of the three I own. My bag trinity. The other bag I use a lot is the manfrotto bumblebee m10. I made a review of that one as well, a shoulder style bag. However I still use the newer sling on plenty occasions as well. I even purchased a second one with the red interior!

Greetings from the UK. I've been having trouble deciding what sling bag to purchase, I was looking at a Lowepro sling but then I found the Neewer one. Your review has helped me make up my mind, it was very informative but what helped the most was the fact that I am a similar size to yourself and I was worried that the Neewer bag might not fit my frame, thanks to your review I can see that the bag will fit fine. Many thanks for this review. I originally bought the K & F concept but decided because I have/use the Lowepro sling 200aw I would got for the Loewpro Edge 150. I had them both and then decided to send the K&F back. I have been preparing a vblog about them and just can't settle on why the Edge opens 'the wrong way'! As you say the flap hits you and and access is restricted. I think I am going to try this bag now because it ions the correct way!

Very nice comprehensive review of this Neewer Sling Bag! I like the "Quick Access" feature, as I too, use the Fujifilm X-System (an X-Pro2 with some stellar Fujinon lenses). Currently, I prefer the "backpack" style though, and have found the backpacks from thinkTANKPhoto and MidnShft Gear are outstanding. They're well-made, designed for functionality and durability, and use superb YKK zippers. In fact, the MindShift Gear Trailscape 18L uses the very same Zipper Pull style that your Neewer ling uses. The 18L is somewhat larger than this Sling bag, and can accommodate an X-Pro2 with at least 5 or 6 lenses, plus other accessories. I notice you mentioned an interest in tripods. I can recommend the best "travel tripod" I've ever seen, the FLM CP26 Travel Tripod. It's a 10X Carbon Fiber tripod with a ball head that supports 26 lbs, and has several unique features for the landscape/panoramic photographer. Steve TQP glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for your input and recommendations. Currently I have beenainly using the manfrotto bumblebee m10 that I reviewed after this bag, a shoulder style bag. This one is still used by me when I want a stealthy quick access king. As for the tripod I ended up getting the sirui T-1205x with the sirui k20x ball head as well as the mamfrotto table top kit 209, 492 long. This table top kit I attached to an arca type quick release - love this little tripod, it's in my bag all the time. The sirui mainly used for family group photos etc

Nice review and nice bag. I have the Lowepro Sling and this looks like it has some advantages. For me, however, a show stopper is that this bag has no place for an iPad. Other than that, it looks good.

Great Video and explanation. I wear my work bag on my left shoulder due to an injury i suffered on my right shoulder, so I wonder if i can change the sling to be used on the other shoulder instead. Thanks bro.

Danny Dam thank you. They are almost identical with the minor differences I mentioned. I wanted an all black bag with the zipper extensions so o went for this one. Another difference is that Neewer sells this bag with various colors of the interior compartments. I have one with purple as shown in the video as well as red.

This looks great. Hoping it will hold my Nikon Z-6 with attached FTZ and Nikon 24-120 (total length is 8 1/4 inches). Thanks for pointing out that it opens with the flap on the other side.

Thanks. For $30 it is worth a try. The nikon setup mentioned above is heavy and not good for hiking. My Oly 4/3 died and that was very light so I am spoiled. I figure that a sling bag would be better than a Black Rapid or neck strap for longer hikes that require maneuvering over fallen logs and boulders.

Great video thanks! How is the bagging going after a few years? E.g. zips and padding are okay and working. I have a smaller mirrorless camera (Oly Em10 mk3) Do you think it'll be an issue with the rattling or I can just use another padding from another bag to hold it down?

Glad yoy like the video and that it was helpful to you. Bag is doing great. Impressed how sturdy it is. You can always add extra padding but I think it will be ok. What I sometimes do is use weiss lens cloths and fold them. Good to always have and they add extra cushioning

Would this carry a Sony A7iii with the 24-105mm fitted? Like the compact look of this bag and would rather take that on my Japan trip next month.

Because the Sony 24-105 is 4.5 inches I would say it will fit with the A7iii. It's a great stealthy sling imo. I wrote to Neewer for them to return some parts in it like the zipper extensions. Hope they do. Also take a look at the manfrotto bumblebee m10 PL. I also reviewed that bag, it's a messenger style with fast access from the top, I have been using it a lot with my xt2 system. If you need any tips for Japan let me know. I fell in love with Japan when I travelled there with my wife two years ago. Magical place.

BellipotensNYC Thanks 👍 i only have my 28-70mm kit and 24-105 Sony lenses so I will have extra room for my go pro 4 and other small items. I don't have an iPad or more lenses yet so I will get a bigger bag later this will do the job for now. Looking forward to will be my fist time visiting Japan. Got a few places I'm checking out in Tokyo and Osaka. What places do you reccomend.

I feel it is well made. Good enough for my needs and abuse. It's a great bag to have in the bag collection for a light setup. I take good care of my things so it has lasted for me nicely

Can I also ask, Is there a hidden pocket/compartment where you can hide your wallet? Just wanted to avoid pickpocket while this bag is in my back.

Danny Dam There is no dedicated hidden compartment. The zippers for the camera and lens area are close to the person's back and hard to reach in my opinion if someone tried to pick pocket the bag. I took this bag to Paris where you have plenty of pick pockets - had no problems. You can always add a Nite Ize SlideLock Key Ring - Black www.amazon.com/dp/B01CGMV8AK/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_H1MOAb5W27HK3. I use this clip to connect the zipper rings on some of my bags for extra protection. It's stealthy and light

Lance Camera Straps. Called "Lug wrist strap" and I Love it. To me its most comfortable on the left and does not get in the way. If you get the same metal ring version as me, make sure to get the O-ring strap bumper for $1.00 from his site. I would recommend just purchasing from his site because the strap accessories are not available on his amazon store. lancecamerastraps.com/

Christian Howell sometimes it gets in the way. I like to use manual zoom and it feels better to me on the left. That is when I'm using that wrist strap. If you see in my newest camera bag video, the cheerwing bag I have their newest heavier duty beck strap and use that now mostly

Depends what size camcorder. Of it's one of the compact ones then most likely yes. For example I can fit two Fuji EFX500 flash units in the top compartment with some little room to give...

Seems a bit hard access for changing lenses when moving, you can't safely open all the zip with the bag on your shoulder

Horror Coder I usually sit down or place the bag down on a table etc to do that. I mainly keep a specific lens on for a long time and do not swap constantly. To me the rapid access to the camera itself is what matters as well as the size of that area for an XT2 with booster grip. most bags that I have tried do not accommodate for a camera the size of the XT2 with booster grip. some say they do but the entrance is very right and makes the removal of the camera not rapid and not pleasurable.

Thanks for the clarification...using mainly prime lenses I swap a lot so probably is not the best bag for me, but in your case seems the right choice!
