It seems like you could use it as a slide with the center arm at 45 and then loosened so you can slide the pole front/back or left/right. Really curious if that would work cause if so, that thing could be utilized for tons of cool shots.

The two screw on the head - one is to lock the ball joint in place and the other is to release/tighten the head to allow the head to pan without loosening the ball head. There's usually degrees marked in a ring around the bottom of the head.

there are 3 screews actually. two is for the ball joint and one for pan as you say. the question was why is two screws for the ball joint? the joint is moveable in case you release both screws - one is not enough. for me this is a little pain in the ass, if I need a perfect angle for the object.

folowing your review i bought the exact same tripod and gotta say i am pleased with it, however i think you could have shown more of its capabilities in your review. only thing about it that is lacking is the fact that the boom arm is only 50cm long. this is intentional in order to keep the tripod size to that minimum that is very easy to carry aroud but if you want to make overhead shots of some work it just wont reach far enough for most uses. if aynone knows of a replacement boom arm that is 1,5 or 1,2 meters long that could point to it id love to know about the,. because this tripod is great for using when your out taking pictures, and an extra boom arm would make it fit perfectly indoors for my car repair shots
