Will it work - probably - will it work WELL.. I seriously doubt it. I believe average water pressure in a home is about 60PSI (probably less if you have your own well/pump); so without the assistance of the engine your standard water supply is 60PSI, the engine/pump multiplie that pressure. With your method, you have ~0 PSI from the source (bucket), so your using the power of the pump to pull water from the bucket to the pump; thus you're using a significant portion of the pump's ability just to pull the water to the pump and giving up final output. I'm not an engineer but I'd guess if you have a 3000 PSI pressure washer configured the way you have it here, you're probably giving up 1000 PSI.

I'm sorry but if your pressure washer is working correctly there is no way that bucket will last that long. 5 gallon bucket 2.4 gpm. I think maybe your thinking gallon per hour? Or something because at 2.4 gpm. That bucket is going to last barely over 2 minutes. Hope it's a small job. Or that you brought a chain gang to keep em coming.
