Just acquired a 1999 Massey Ferguson 231S. So glad I found your videos - thank you so much for sharing them. It is definitely appreciated. I'll be changing the fluids & filters this weekend with you as my guide.

Thank you. I can see this tractor being a workhorse, I really like it, however previous owner has beat it big time. Need to overhaul steering control valve, steering box, at some point hydraulic pump, brakes and cables. Well maintained looks like a great ag tractor.

I have a 231 that is awesome. It handles everything I throw at it. One day, I took out 91 trees in 12 hours with my 231. It's just the right size. It fits in my 16' flatbed and it is easy to care for. I'm glad I invested in a 231.

I love mine too, although it was poorly maintained. I still have several issues to fix, next being the power steering control valve that is it leaking. Cabling, sensors and gauges next. Well taking care of it is a work horse.

The 231's are great machines. I've had mine 13 years and its runs strong. Mine is a 95, but has square fenders. The later model years had round fenders like yours. Your can confirm your exact year by checking the serial number on the right side of the hood. My only complaint is the square fenders make getting on the platform somewhat of a challenge. Yours is in very good condition. The prior owner of mine let it out in the sun and the paint faded.

Hi Matthew, thank you for your feedback. Mine looks good because the previous owner did a monkey shine rattle can job to get it looking good. Engine is solid everything else needs attention. More videos coming soon with more upgrades

I forgeting to ask-is that paint colour on this tractor (brown) is a orginal painting from factory? We in Poland buy licenced of this tractors and our Ursus factory painting with that colour polish construction of tractors Ursus c330 and c360 3p so I wondering from where this painting was 🤔

@@jozefurbanski7016 My tractor is an Ursus made in Poland. I guess they imported them to the US from Poland and put MF 231 stickers but the serial number plate say Ursus and all the writing in the tractor, like the draft and transport is in Polish. The engine is original brown color so I keep painting in brown.

I have a Massey 135 that is similar to your tractor. I found it is well worth the time to get ahold of the service and operations manuals if you do not have them. They really help me out when I have to work on the tractor.

enjoy your videos. They are giving me confidence to make my own repairs on my MF 240, very similar to your 231. I really want to see the re wire...mine looks as bad as yours! Nice work man.

Bleed the power steering. Add fluid to pump if needed. The pump is on the right side of engine, up front, if sitting in the seat. You can only use Dexron III Automatic Transmission Fluid or Universal Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid. I have a lot of info on the 231 if you have questions. I have owners, parts and service manuals.

Thank you Travis for the info. I'm currently overhauling the hydraulic cylinders. I'm making a video about that too. Once I put them on if problem still persist I will look at the steering box. I'll take you offer for help. Very much appreciated.

Indeed is an Ursus. Mine actually has the serial number plate showing the brand Ursus and Made in Poland. Actually the draft and transport levers are in polish.

@@BUTTEWORKS jak dobrze poszukasz to znajdziesz więcej polskich elementów np rozrusznik elmot , wskaźniki, pompa wtryskowa WSK itp . Szkoda , że nie jest to model wyżej czyli Ursus 3512(licencja mf255). Miałbyś wtedy lepsze hamulce tarczowe i zwolnice planetarne.
