I can not stress how much I agree with your answer to go and work for a brand on the same industry already functioning at a high volume. prior to working for my self I worked for an entrepreneur and started out doing video & photos for one of his companies. I got the job by replying to a part time $8 an hour intern position on craigslist, when I was looking for a full time job. I got hired on the spot and was offered 12 bucks with a 1$ raise in 3 weeks, 3 months & every three months after that. My title was video & photography but the 1st day I put together furniture for 10hrs with a huge smile on my face. It was probably 3 weeks before I even touched a camera or talked about a project. I just kept my head down and grinded it out, But eventually I started to gain priceless information almost daily once I was working closer to one of the 2 owners. Long story short is I gained & continue to gain so much knowledge & experience from the owner of that company as well as getting reffered work from his circle almost daily. I continue to help him any way I can as often as possible regardless of the reward. After working 50+hrs a week wearing 30 different hats for a little over 2 years I knew every single piece of the company. Meanwhile working for myself everynight and every weekend for the last 6 months or so straight. I started to develope a 180 degree change in thinking and mindset. Its like someone stuck a key in a piece of my brain that was locked and opened the flood gates. I went from being a dreamer with some talent to an executer with some knowledge & great sense of humility. Ultimately working at that company lead me to a confrence where I first heard Gary V speak. It was weird, when he came out on stage he said, " Alright fuckers, listen close because only 2 of you are actually gonna hear what I have to say" Inside I was like me, me thats me your talking to sir. What was so interesting was this speach came at a time when I had just started to transition to that leap of faith and stary working 100% from home and focus on my passion. I have always know I was gonna do what I am doing now, since I was about 9 years old at least. But I didnt know how exactly to do it, I just knew thats what I was gonna do. During Gary's speach it was like a fire was burning under my seat & getting hotter by the second. I literally had never felt so clear and focused in my life on what I was doing. Of all the things that have lead me to where I am today, not one has impacted my success more than working for somone who started with nothing and built a million dollar business on hard work and presistance. Almost every descision I make in business today is in some way impacted by a process or scenario I experienced while working under another entrepreneur. And if you can successfully work for an entrepreneur as close as I did, you will realize how mentally unstable you have to be to think you can actually succeed at running a successful business on your own, especially overnight or quickly or the easy way etc... Some people work 80hrs a week so they dont have to work 40. It's all about finding out who you are and what you are actually good at, from there you will really know what it is youre supposed to do. Im by no means rich or wealthy, but I wake up everyday and get to do what I love. Sometimes I have to laugh that it took me till now to get here knowing how "easy & simple" it all was, but at the same time what I have learned tells me to step back and realize that without that "long" journey, I would not be where I am. When I say easy & simple I mean just that. So many of you ask what can I do to get to this place I want to be? The answer is simple, Put your head down, take life by the balls and work for it, everyday. If i never have some of thing I want in life I will die happy knowing I did what i loved to do everyday & inspired other to do the same. I dropped out of high school. Have no GED. and have never set foot in a college class. But I am proud to say that of all the people I would have graduated with, I was the only one invited to come back and speak at my high-school on career day of all days. To any of the other kids that were voted least likely to succeed , it is so much fun to say, whos laughing now fuck face. Stay positive, be kind, help without expectation, do the right thing & find your happiness. Gary V, thanks for pushing me off the cliff when I was running to jump. Learning to fly is fun.

Hot fire, this episode was went back to playing in the dirt and not floating off in the clouds. This message was as heart-full as too The Breakfast Club interview. Just graduated from college this weekend & a week before I graduated just finished interning for Kentucky Derby social media team, where we helped run and find content for the Facebook Live, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram. Each platform has a specific purpose and content that certain area demographics like to see. Not going to stop learning, going to work and intern till its my time. Keep up the hot fire and keeping it real.

Hey Gary. Eva, 27, from az, I am finally taking my first steps to start my company. Im new to all of it before listening to you I didnt have the belief system even though raised very christian to know that i could do this if i really put my back into it. Lol but i have a son to raise and a legacy to build. Im nervous but im listening to a very small voice in myself that deeply resonates with you that ive been silencing for a long time. Im getting out of debt first. So far ive paid off over 13000 in 3 years and ive got 26000 more to go. I give my whole check and basically eat dirt hard to make this happen. No fun, working a job in the graveyard where I walk 6 miles a night to make it happen. Things are happening this is just the first post. I cant wait to check in to let you know what im doing next. Your young but like a father figure in so many ways. Youve built me up more in the 3 weeks since ive found your content than than ive ever been in my entire life. I accept your challenge. And i dont know why i get scared that maybe one day you will run out of content but im listening every night and it matters.

Gary that last question was awesome! I'm starting as an insurance agent; I'm less than 2 months in, I work really close with my regional director who does all the sales training in the region and I get to see him more times a week then I can even ask for and although he's not training me, I got a field trainer that's just as awesome, just being around my regional director is a blessing and you're 100% right with working for someone and learning to be that #73 person, and basically being like a right hand man instead of starting a business at a early age just for the title of an entrepreneur.

Since my senior year of college I ran my own video production business. I'm 26 now and a couple months ago business was really slow. Switched majors from Computer Science to Finance after 2 years. Couldn't care less about the sticker I get at the end of this, just wanna be forced to build a foundation on business (accounting, macro/micro economics, etc.) and I can be immersed very easily into a business environment through co-op in my program. I hate school more than anything, but it's debt-less so I'll take all of the opportunities it gives me. Saw an Instagram ad of a course you made on Udemy for building a personal brand that I'm interested in. Still trying to figure out what I love to do and you've helped me lean towards business. So thank-you for being so giving, I'll try to give more back even though you don't expect it haha

That moment at 18:19 was pure zen mixed with fire! It puts a smile on my face just knowing you will always keep it this real. #QOTD: Have been in expansion mode all of Q2 and learning everything about real estate: hitting podcasts hard / scoping out disruptive patterns / and the notion of ones community is a source of content and a long term play for an agency - will make a push into this niche exclusively for the remainder of the year. That was a big decision, but seeing many confirmations so far.

Gary, one year ago I started doing freelance work as a 359 videographer. It took six months to get my first client but in the past three months I have brought in over 15k with 50k in proposals out right now (more than I made at my last job). I am also doing a lot of exposure work here in Nashville to develop lasting relationships as opposed to short term transactions. I am also actively searching for a business mentor to help me scale the business when the time is right. Hoping for a 200k/yr income. Thank you for all that you do!

I can't believe I've been watching to so long that I remember you cold calling that guy at random in that little office. Damn how times have changed, and that sweet ass building! Question: do you have a decorator or do you just walk around and make changes? Because I believe you have the chops to be an interior decorator, or anything. Love you Gary!

I design and make leather goods as a side business and lately, I have been pushing my Snapchat game. This week, I showed people how I make leather goods step by step, so I've gained new customers. These new customers directly paid me with SnapCash. It's interesting to see what happens when you're filling in a white space. I'm going to keep pushing my content and the creative envelop, and I'm excited to see what's next to come for B to C transactions in Snapchat. Great episode by the way, Gary. I totally agree with you about the negotiation segment.

I've been selling all of my liabilities and posting them on Ebay to raise capital for my business. And studying at least 7 hours a day on courses and books. Calculated yet patient approach but I'm going all in and I will win. Thanks for the vid!

last week exhibited at the B2B business show in London - I started an Augmented Reality business and I went to the trade show to get data from real businesses spent most of the 2 days asking what they want I never mentioned cost once. oh and it only cost us £2300 all in coz I only had a crappy table and boy did I get value, I now have made business friendships with people that I could only dream of if I sat in my house trying to do this. Gary is right building a business is much more than selling stuff...

Thanks for the advice Gary! Especially the bit on not striking out on your own immediately, get some front row 'splash zone' experience. As a guy who just graduated from a masters program and wants to one day run his own company but also wants to be patient as I know I have time, this was key to hear.

Hey Gary, that last answer really hit me but Id like to add one thing to that. In the past, right when I graduated college a year back,I listened to a mentor of mine and got a job at a digital marketing agency as a video producer hoping to learn. I did learn from it. Even though the job was great and the people were nice, it was like standing on a ball of fire every single moment when I thought about the fact that I was working for someone,so I had to quit in 6 months in. Im patient now, but working for someone seems like my worst nightmare.
