Speaking of helping people out. I was awakened this past Sunday morning by someone knocking on my front door at 5:45 AM. I answered the door and this guy says he ran out of gas and asked if I had any. I said sure and lent him my full 5 gallon steel Justrite gas can. He walked down my driveway to his car parked on the side of the road and proceeded to empty the gas can into his car. He opened his hatchback put the can inside and said he would be right back with a fresh full can of gas. Needless to say, he never came back. So i was out not only 5 gallons of gas (Reg gas is $3.99 a gallon here) but a Justrite 5 gallon gas can which are not cheap to replace. Wow, you think you're doing someone a solid then they screw you. Live and learn I suppose.

I saw a teenager stranded by the road, no petrol. I was near my village so I popped back for my can, grabbed a tow bar just in case it was another problem, filled him up, and got a token few quid off him because at that point he never even offered to pay, but I’m still pretty much giving him free petrol here. Y’know, the word “thanks” never even passed his lips…? 😐 I’m still mad about that ten years later. Got a Grandson who has never thanked me for anything either. I do think that you're correct and neighbors should be nice. I clean my neighbors snow, leaves (sidewalks, driveway etc) and do the street areas when they don't have a chance or out of being neighborly. However, this is not common with neighbors or the younger generation. However, the best response would be to avoid your neighbor as much as you can and by doing this he will understand. But don't let your guard down. You will be able to forgive your neighbors, but YOU SHOULD NEVER FORGET. Never give them another opportunity to do something like this. Eventually he may apologize and figure out that it is important to be a good neighbor and get along because we do depend on each other. Being nice was old school thinking and we've become less civil nowadays. We need to get along and understand each other as neighbors. We have more in common than we have differences. Love watching you and what you do and although I don't have the same capabilities or knowledge it is always a learning experience watching your channel.

She calls the township and the county (as they are breaking the old stuff out (and she's known we were doing this for months, even trimmed her trees for free to free up space on my side for the excavator two days before that!)) on me for replacing an existing structure without a permit. I've got a dozen of these stories, and you'd think I learned my lesson. A lot of people don't understand the true meaning of community, reciprocity and building trust. Couple of days ago my wife walks in and says our next-door neighbor asked if she could borrow some of my tools. Without skipping a beat, I said, "eff no". This woman has been nothing but a mean and horrible neighbor. She's unfriendly, and she lets her dog out unleashed as if it was a cat to crap anywhere, he wants. And yes, he's dropped a deuce in my yard several times after I've politely and diplomatically brought it to her attention. The neighbor across the street asks to borrow my ladder for a couple of days and it's been two weeks now and he hasn't returned it. I seem to be to "go to" guy for a lot of people on my street when they need something, or they can't figure out a problem around the house. I'm tired of being taken advantage of and made to feel like an idiot. No mas.
@plowkingf1511 ай бұрын
On a pump system. You need a purge or weep hole in the pipe or check valve from the pump to leachfield so it can drain back to the pump chamber if pitched properly. The pipe sits above other lines in dist. box and has a velocity tee in the box. That way the pipe won't hold water and freeze. Some cases I've seen the septic lines buried with ridged Styrofoam to protect it from frost..I have a few customers on the lake with Airbnb's I pump the septics a few times a year, depending on how much use they get. You need a set of rules .Ive seen Airbnb's have emergencies because they bring in large amounts of people for gatherings. They weren't listed on the paperwork for the rental agreement..I have pamphlets I can leave for airbnb owners on how to take care of the septic and what not to flush. Pamphlets are printed by my state DES agency. They have decals you can put on vanity mirrors also.
@JohnDoe-np3zk11 ай бұрын
Wow I think your hole in the pipe is valid but has nothing to do with freezing. The hole is actually to avoid air lock in the pump from suction of water. It does allow the pipe to drain and this keeps the pump primed and not air locked next time it runs. Now, having made it this far I also added three 1/8 inch holes in the line after the check valve and before my now basically plugged drain field. This allows a good enough flow where the pump will actually get rid of effluent but also drain it there when pump shut off. I made basically a dry well using expanded clay pellets vs trying to repair my clogged drain field.

I’ve never noticed anyone in the UK moving leaves? Most people think they look nice and the worms take care of them. The idea of using diesel to pick them up and then burning them in a pile doesn’t sound very ecological? 🤷♂️ I compost all the ones that land on the drive, only because there are no worms there. Your neighbour sounds like he has nothing else to worry about 😸

You need to get a couple of manure forks. They are not only the best thing for shoveling manure, but they are excellent for moving beauty bark, leaves, mulch, etc..

No matter how many times you can be nice and offering to people they will turn on a dime. Not all people but most.

I wish you could show him that article in today’s Philadelphia newspaper. The environmental benefit of fallen leaves is incredible - from providing habitat to beneficial insects and wildlife to the nutrients they provide the soil. Even New York City’s famous high line park was planted with shrubs and trees that thrive on fallen leaves and unkempt stems. The environmentally worthless manicured lawn may well become a thing of the past.

I am a real smartass so I probably would have said something like, yes that would be great if you have the city come help me clean up the leaves. It is really hard Stan to have neighbors that are perfectionists.

That would’ve been a good answer too lol

Stanley I use to be your neighbor on the lake about 7 years ago and I can confirm what an A$$ those two neighbors are. Don’t let them know you’re going to do an air-b-n-b. They are part of the reasons we moved away. You were one of the nicest neighbors ever with the best 4th of July fireworks shows.

Honest to God, I would have loaded up all of those leaves and personally delivered to that guy's driveway! Hopefully while he was standing there slack jawed watching.

I might have asked him for help making a list of things on my property that were not up to regulations. And we could do a list of things for his property at the same time. Then see how he responds.

Hey Stanley, How are you? We meet a few years ago at the Las Vegas tool show convention. I have a tool called the B'root Bar Root Cutting Tool. I'm not sure if you remember, but it is a vertical axe used for cutting large roots were you can't use equipment. We have a few videos on You Tube if you want to see it again, and we have even had a few customers make their own videos on it. The landscapers in our area of South Florida say it's the tool their industry has been needing. It allows them to get under thorny bushes, cut the trees taproot, work in very tight areas, and more. I would like to send you one to get your input on it if you're still open to that?

On the east side of my property line, it is a golf course HOA. I placed two forty foot containers twenty feet from my property line. Some guy from the HOA came over and blew up! Then he started ranting about me running chain saws and a skid steer all day long. I just looked at him and said "I am building a house here. Wait until I move in! Go Home!"

Neighbours are 100% a pain! Lady next door came to me wanted half a row of mature red Pine trees cut down. They were over hanging both of our homes, so I was game. The agreement was each would pay 50% of the $450 and I would hull the waste which is almost only time so we got the trees cut (the trees are just barely on my land). During the time the trees were coming down she went to the gym for 2hrs! After they were all cut down she was livid! I had the trunks cut into manageable lengths from 1 to 5 feet long depending on the diameter which was up to 34 inches. She had sold the three tree trunks for between $1200 and $1500! 2 were 30" calibre and the other was 26" all were almost knot free up to about 12 feet. Many unkind words were exchanged both directions, if I play FRACKEN Anglo Music like Bruce Springsteen she drags her kid in as he is not permitted to even hear English, then she throws stuff. She is Quebecois Francophone! Late in September I made a video for the city of her with one of her dogs on a leash, pooing her dog on my lawn and not picking that up! She just got a 3rd offence fine which should be well over $1000. The other two were not on my lawn! She doesn't know that she was caught on a video and won't as long as she pays the fine. She sold the dog, and had a big yard sale I know she was asking $900 on Facebook marketplace for that papered pup and likely got most as it sold in 3 days. We are at war and I can't wait for winter snowstorms! Often the snow naturally exceeds the height of my roof and I can direct the drifts towards her driveway at 12 feet or more deep on a good Nor'Easter!
