In the last scene, Trinity is left a note with one of Mr. Peterson's coin and the note says: "Mr. Peterson is done. And so are you. Lose this coin, Lose your life." And then a beak which is definitely The Guest shows from her door to her room for just a brief second before closing the door and disappearing. The last words of the season are Trinity saying: "And it's not just Mr. Peterson...." This gives me that hello neighbor is getting way too much criticism for the gameplay, while absolutely missing the storytelling and the very little spoilers to the theorize about.

Here’s a theory (just a theory don’t take it serious): When Mr Peterson says “where is he” I think that he doesn’t mean where is Aaron, I think he means where is The Guest because in my theory Mr Peterson is not only hiding Aaron but he’s also hiding The Guest. Just a theory though.

Aaron. His son. After the neighbour’s wife died Aaron became mentally unwell because his mum had died so he took out the anger on his sister and accidentally killed her. The neighbour locked him in the basement to keep him safes from the police because they would arrest him for killing his sister. The shadow thing is representative of their fear. The neighbour’s fear of losing his family and nicky’s fear of the trauma of being kidnapped by the neighbour.

people who don't know: Peterson saw his son escape in the basement that's why he said NO he was because he might lose his son. and it explains why he says where is he? he is trying to protect his son and he hates kids because. his son pushed his sister off, but he loves his son. he can't lose him so he locked him in the basement so could not harm anyone. everyone sees him as a criminal. Nicky on the other hand makes his misery worse. others too
