Neighbors react after two 17-year-olds shot in west Toledo neighborhood

Күн бұрынPolice say Marvelous Walton and Marcquise Waites were in a car on the 3800 block of North Lockwood St. near Berdan just after 2 p.m. when each of them was shot.
Walton was pronounced dead at the scene. Waites was taken to the hospital where his condition is unknown.
At this time there are no known suspects.
A neighbor, Cayden Robinson, was just down the street from the shooting when it happened and said it was shocking to witness.
"I was ducking down on the ground, thinking we were getting shot at cause it was so close," said Robinson. "Like we got kids here. There are kids all around the neighborhood. Like this neighborhood, these are nice houses, these are good family homes we don't really have problems like that."
Marvelous Walton would have been a senior at St. Francis de Sales High School in the fall where he was on the varsity football team. According to St. Francis coach Mike Blochowski, Marvelous was a "great kid" and was well-loved by his coaches and teammates.

Law enforcement needs to do firearms checks instead of sobriety checks on the roadways. Please news media do not announce ahead of time where they will be so they can be avoided.

He went to school everyday and played football. He was a amazing student.. that's ALL you need to know. 🤐 After school situations had nothing to do with this I'm sure. Guns are monsters, our youth are angels.

What needs to happen is the citizens the residents of these neighborhoods needs to stand their grounds against these little a** wanna be gangsters And the stuff will change People need To be role models on what the right things are to do instead of Teaching them nothing but the streets like I've always said it starts in the home and the parents are responsible for these children out shooting other children because they Didn't do the job they were supposed to do because of programming
