Fun side note as if anyone here would know how I am anyway - as a kid I believed too much in what random other kids said and even adults. The older I got in my school years the more fed up I got. The end result is me at 16 with an especially strong bullshit detector that I used to argue with people or just be like …I dunno man… then look it up and tell them see, I knew that wasn’t right. As a Atheist I fully agree. It would be like renaming the planets in our solar system because they're named after ancient Greek and Roman gods. At the end of the day whether we like it or not, early advancements in science were discovered and named by religious people. That's just part of human history and civilization.
@totoitekelcha76288 ай бұрын
You're right bro. I am a devout christians and when i hear about the news of changing BC and AD i got furious over an atheist. They just hated Christianity thats the only reason they wanted to change, had it been islam nobody would dare to change.

@@totoitekelcha7628you really believe nobody would have wanted to change it if it had been islam? really?
@Amun_Proxy8 ай бұрын
@@totoitekelcha7628 Dude you'd run into the same problem no matter the era, no matter the religion. Another reason why I keep BC and AD, is because it keeps everything in the right historical context when trying to explain how old things are. I've met people who genuinely think the Bible and the Torah are the most oldest literature ever and nothing else is. Even tho funnily enough there are civilizations that are older, better and more advanced than the Israelites and definitely more than Christianity and Islam, e.g: the Sumerians, Kemet(ancient Egypt), Olmecs, Caral-Supe, ancient China, Akkadians, ancient Assyrians(not Neo Assyrians), ancient Babylon, Indus(ancient Indians) ancient Greece. All which would be scene as heretical civilizations in the eyes of the Abrahamic faiths(Judaism, Christianity and Islam) since none of them followed the Abrahamic god. Not only that but it also shows that much like how in science names and terms and some view points are taken from religion as a whole. Christianity definitely does as well, like for example the geo everything orbits the Earth/Terra, that was originally modeled by a ancient Greek Astrologer called Eudoxus of Cnidus, who was a believer in the ancient Greek polytheist religion which is heresy in the eyes of the church. The reality of progression is that much like how for example sake, you love PlayStation as a whole but you hate PlayStation 3, you wouldn't be able to progress to PlayStation 4 and 5 tho without PlayStation 3. If that makes any sense.
@totoitekelcha76288 ай бұрын
@@Amun_Proxy we don't claim our religion as the oldest religion but we followed the Holy Bible that tell us the firt man and woman so according to our believe everything is created by our GOD even though Adam and eve are not Judaism or christianity. This classification of religion is new in human history and there are more history in the Bible long before Abraham was born so your point of saying that we believe our religion is the oldest is wrong. Christianity does mot describe science as you claim. Christianity does not borrow either from greek astrologer.
@Amun_Proxy8 ай бұрын
@@totoitekelcha7628 It does though, all these old faiths follow the geocentric model. Also when I referred to the bible being seen as super ancient, I mean in reference to the old testament which is very much in bible which essentially comes from the Torah. The notion that they didn't is straight up false. Also, you speak of the "first man and woman" yet fail to acknowledge the key word to the claim being "first".🤦🏿♂️ And hey at the end of the day it's the church we in the modern day people get these old texts which existed after Christ which was first established during the first century AD.

The problem is, Gregorian calendar is not the most accurate one, it is a Revised Julian calendar, made by a Serbian astrophysicist in the 1920's (you might know him for Milanković's cycles of ice ages) and is in fact the calendar used, not Gregorian. They are aligned until 2800, so it is kinda pointless to say is it Revised Julian or Gregorian that people use now, but it is in fact Revised Julian and that is the one that we will seamlessly transition into in 2800. And Niel knows that. But for some reason (and I like the guy so I won't say what I think the reason is) he is not recognizing the work of the fellow scientist from 100 years ago.

Time : Arbitrary measurements of physical objects moving around in space. An earth orbiting a central sun and a moon orbiting the earth with a continuous rotation of the earth giving us the light and dark cycles we call day and night. Time began as an idea inspired by watching shadows on the ground. And the first sundials were implemented. Since then we've created clocks calendars and watches to track the idea of time. We even have to add leap years to our calendars to keep them synchronized with the surrounding planets. Leave earth and there is no sunrise or sunset. And with no central focal point in space youd lose track of the 365 orbits around the sun that we call 1 earth year. The idea of time, as we have evolved to understand it, is only possible while standing on earth.

Atheism means a person lacks a belief in a god/gods. If you don't specifically believe a god exists, you are an atheist. Gnosticism and agnosticism refer to knowledge. If you say "I know god does or does not exist." That is gnosticism. Agnosticism means you have or lack the belief, but you don't feel like you know for sure. God doesn't/does exist, and I know that for sure, Gnostic.

@@Obscurite1221 Except he already explained to you why your wording is wrong. Agnostic means you are not sure, Atheist means you lack a belief in god. That means you are an agnostic atheist. But you are still an atheist. There are gnostic atheists (God definitely doesn't exist), agnostic atheists (I don't know but I don't believe it), agnostic theists (I don't know but I'd rather believe so I don't go to hell if it turns out to be right) and gnostic theists (God definitely does exist). If you are not sure if a god exists, but you don't see enough evidence to believe in it, then you're an agnostic atheist. But you ARE still an atheist.

I'm an atheist in a Baptist family. I bow my head for dinner prayer. If I attend church, I wear a nice outfit, and my daughter goes to church every now and then with her grandparents. You can not believe in something but still respect and acknowledge how religion can be beneficial as well as harmful. My daughter is 8 and asks all kinds of questions about Jesus and Christianity as a whole, I have never told her it isn't real or that it's nonsense. She needs to come to her own conclusions, and if I interfere with that, then I'm just trying to indoctrinate her into what I believe. Give your kids ALL the answers, and especially do so when the question is extremely nuisance.

@tylerherrod3454 I think you have the right approach. I'm an atheist and so are my parents, but they never told me that there are no gods. One day, when I was about 10 years old, I asked my father if there is a god, and he gave me the best answer you can give a child, he said: "Figure it out by yourself". 😊 That said, if a child is being indoctrinated by their grandparents, or other family members, or by their school, it might be harder for them to "figure it out by themselves" and resist the indoctrination.
