I am 52, born 1967, I heard Neil all my life. Was recently my husband one day put on Solitary Man. I didn't recall EVER hearing that song, but I instantly fell in LOVE with it. So I began going back in time and watching Neil videos, I'm "madly in love" with Neil and his music now. Heard it on radio all my life, his songs, and I had older sisters at the time he became known but just thought at the time he was just Neil Diamond, older singer. Now, I can't get enough. I play Solitary Man and Cracklin Rosie ALL day long. Drive my husband and dogs NUTS, lol! Anyway, Neil's music has inspired me to learn to play acoustic guitar (and piano). Never had any desire to play up until now. But I have learned chords now, and I practice to the two songs I mentioned above. I'm JUST loving "it". I recommend to anyone that LOVES a lot of music to consider learning guitar. Never in a million years did I "think" I would play to music but I am, and it's so fun to learn it and discover for yourself a beautiful way to create something of your own, maybe just for you, no one else. I've always wished I was born a singer, didn't happen, lol, hoped I would learn music, an instrument, never happened, love music but I had no obvious "talent" to begin with, so ALL that was deemed improbable for me. So many years I desired to paint...but I have no natural ability there either, tried a couple times just to see if I could create something...NADA. So ALL my life I been a little pissed at God, lol, that here I am, you created me, yet kinda gave me "nothing in the head" creatively to do. I've always been able to "work" but not a "work" where I could create something. Until I off the cuff, heard Solitary Man, the guitar playing in it. A friend left a guitar (for safe keeping) with me for a time, never looked at it, touched it, thought about "it" till Solitary Man inspired me. I'm learning, playing along, and excited to be learning "something" that in the future when I become a better player, I can begin to create my "own" sound, technique, melodies, songs. Just for myself. I took guitar outside to practice other day and omg, whole new sounds coming out of it, so that was awesome too. I encourage ANYONE, ANYONE, that may be my age or older to consider learning guitar. YOU CAN CREATE MUSIC YOURSELF. You don't have to be a Dolly Parton, Shania, or a Taylor Swift, "born" with a musical "gift" to enjoy PLAYING music. I guarantee you, a little time/effort and you can find a whole NEW side to you you maybe didn't know even existed. I have! Thank you Neil Diamond for Solitary Man and inspiring me to pick up a guitar. Thank You!!!
