The characters were either dumbed down or made insane to even let the story happen. They turned Joel into an idiot so they could kill him off. They've sent an 9-month pregnant woman into a city filled with zombies and murderers so that they could have Ellie hill her. They made Tommy lose all reason throughout the game and turned him from a good-uncle-like figure into a maniac (I guess he got rewired after that shot to the head.) I could go all day about every part of this story and how lazy, dumb or emotionally manipulating it was. If you had fun, cool. I waited 7 years to see my favourite video-game protagonist turned into a moron and then beaten with a golf-club.

He was creative director on 3 games: TLOU Uncharted 4 TLOUII He had different game directors for TLOUII, that's all. So he has actually directed 3 games. Not every creative director doubles as a game director. Other than Kojima, the only notable solo director was Cory for GoW 2018 (he didn't do that again for Ragnarok).

I am a gameplay focused gamer, story is fine but gameplay is king. TLOU2 gameplay is a joke, you can just run through most encounters to the next cutscene, the AI just stands there and then everyone despawns as soon as you get to the next cutscene trigger, once you understand that the easiest move is not to play, you now need to intentionally not do the optimal action to get to do something. So no i do not like the game, all the challenge is fake. As for the story, i thought it was tripe, it had nothing interesting to say and none of the characters even approached being interesting. This is my own opinion but there is so much better out there, ive experience hundreds of revenge stories from books, movies, mangas and animes and this one was the worst i can recall, not exaggerating, the worst. I had to force myself to finish it because i wanted to see the trainwreck first hand. @porter9494

You do realise TLOUII had game directors, right? They were Anthony Newman and Kurt Margenau. Plus, Neil was the one who wrote the story in the end. Even if he got advice or ideas from others, he still had to write it down. Plus, whenever someone else did have an idea for something, he's always quick to point that out and credit them.

Just because Neil was the bigger name didn't mean they weren't interviewed or present in the build-up to the release. The structure of Part 2 is NOTHING like a movie or TV show. Resetting everything from zero halfway through a story is not something you see on TV shows, and you can't even do that with films in that way. Times like this, I do wonder if some of you even understand how the mediums of TV and film work compared to video games, the medium that's meant to be an artform of its own.
