I knew that was gods music (Bitmap Bros). I bought that for both the Amiga and PC back then :) [Magic Pockets was good too]

I invited Neil to a bbq at my house. He showed up *exactly* at the starting time. I was still making guacamole when the buzzer rang. GFO RPU.

Thanks!! Working on my Post Transfer last night on my Demolition Man! Shatzing will get me big points on it if I can figure that shot out.

Oh cool. Thanks for the reply. Pinball is so damn fun. It's one of the few games that never goes out of style. I enjoyed playing it in the 70's and still enjoy it today. I'd love to own a machine, but the lack of free space in my apartment forbids it. For now I have to make do with Pinball Arcade, and the other collections. Someday though, someday....

It's sometimes called "nerves of steel". If you look at the related videos on the right side of this page, you'll see a video called "Pinball Flipper Technique" that shows it on Whirlwind.

Apologies for the blasphemy. It is it possible to do flick passes on pinball arcade on the 360?
@jcasetnl11 жыл бұрын
I don't know about that one in particular but on most video pinball games it's not really possible. Future Pinball and Pinmame might work, as well as Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection.

Do you know which audio cd? It's driving me crazy as well. I've listened to all the Gods remixes I can find on the net. (Also, these are some sick pinball skills.)

Do they have a name for when you purposely let the ball go down the middle to hit a post (for the machines that have it) and bounce back into play? I always enjoyed doing that one.
@MisterVercetti Жыл бұрын
That's usually called a "chill maneuver".

It's a way to get the ball on the other flipper. Pinball games have timed opportunities for particular shots that are worth big points. In some cases, you can shoot a ramp that will return the ball to the other flipper, but not always. This is a way to "hack" it.

2:00 The Loop Pass is a too dangerous bc if you release the flipper 1/100 or 1/50 sec too early you might make it bounce not enough and drain in the middle. While it's a small percentage to make the ball accidentally drain that way, it's a catastrophe when it happens - then you f****d yourself. To minimize that to happen you could release the flipper a split second later but often that then will make the ball go into the left slingshot what then might cause the ball go sideways and end up with an outlane drain. After the loop the "volley" shot is the way to go. Sure, at high speed it's hard to make the ball directly go where you want it to and after you shoot the ball upwards, it might result in a bad bounce and a lightning fast drain somewhere. But up and down paths result in less drains than sideways movement. The resulting difference is very small but percentagewise it's best to not carry out the beautiful looking Loop Pass.

I agree. It's generally much safer to go for a live catch and follow it up with either a post pass or a tap pass depending on the game.
@zaphod779 ай бұрын
on certain games, such as Attack from Mars, the loop pass is essential. it's how you reliably down the forcefield with the super skillshot. plus, the feed for the super skillshot is consistent. loop passes are typically done right after shooting an orbit, so the timing on them is very learnable, and depending on the game, it's very much worth it. with the ball going so hard, a live catch is much trickier. You can do it on pinball FX attack from mars too, and then shoot the forcefield with the right flipper. give it a try. it's fun. :)

Yeah, the games there get a little dirty. Believe it or not I gave it a once over with Novus 1 and 2 prior to the video. They get a lot of play, though.

He's just one of the elites, and maybe he just needed a break. He just sort of stopped suddenly, and it's not like we were on a first name basis, but I was just hoping he was OK.

For me, alley passing is just so ridiculously dangerous that, outside of a few _extremely_ specific circumstances, it's just not worth the risk. Flip a fraction of a second too early? Ball's going into the bottom of the opposite sling and likely right down the drain. Flip a fraction of a second too late? It's just flying into the tip of the opposite flipper before falling into the drain. Nail the timing, but do it just a smidge too hard? It's rocketing up the inlane and U-turning into the outlane. There's just too much risk for not enough reward, and as such it's nothing more than a flashy trick shot the vast majority of the time.
@zaphod779 ай бұрын
it's a very situational trick, but on the games where it's actually useful, it's VERY useful. A good example is the left inlane on Pinbot, which lights advance planet, and has no way to feed it intentionally without the alley pass. and it will usually not do the up and down because of the outlane rubbers. the alley pass is a legitimate shot, and can be the best one available from the right flipper at the time.
