Neil Young is a singer-songwriter renowned for his hits "Harvest Moon," "Needle And The Damage Done," "Rockin' In The Free World," "Change Your Mind," "Love And War," "Children of Destiny," and "Mr. Soul." He worked with artists like Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, and Led Zeppelin - amassing billions of global streams and inducted into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” twice.
Lyrics:
I caught you knockin' at mycellar door
I love you, baby, can I have some more?
Ooh, ooh,the damage done
I hit the city and I lost my band
I watched the needle take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done
I sing the song, because I love the man
I know that some of you don't understand
Milk-blood to keep from running out
I've seen the needle and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's like a settin' sun

Ronnie Sutton Sounds like you want a cookie. Good for you.. you’ll think about this later in life and be floored. Who cares who’s making money right now. For you to hate on anyone right now is far from necessary. Imagine you in his shoes... what does he have for income right now? What he is doing could be needed for him.

I'm here today because I just lost my nephew to this. Sweetest kid who turned into a sweet man. He came back from Afghanistan so messed up mentally from PTSD though. All of us just don't understand how he was in treatment in a facility..but still got ahold of it somehow. He leaves behind 2 Parents..a Wife and 2 Boys. He was much more than a drug addict. A Veteran..a Husband..Father and a Son.

He is talking facts. My dad along side your son are in Fathers house now. Im sorry ur nephew o.d.ed . It hurts us a lot , they're out of the flesh now and I believe at real peace for once and all literally, all literally, they're spirit bodies or souls mabey in a different dimension, we can't know that.but we who love God DO know they are personally in touch with Our Father. Peace eluded him on earth so be sure Father knows ALLabout it. And its said by Paul we can't fathom what it is like to b with God. God will bless those kids and make sure of that. Take care, dont stress too much if u can help it. In a short time we all are there, God's not forgetting anyone that loves Him. Ps overdose is by far the hardest to deal with, keep God informed on how ur doing, I try 24 7 but thats not ever gonna happen. He marks honest try as well as easy done. Don't ever give up mentally and there's soo many of parent /loved ones going through the exact thing ur. Keep God in mind as much as u care to. If I talk to Him in my head or under my breath or out load the day goes happy, im happy so it might sound selfish but its a different high than a drug, u can feel whats right , thats God's Spirit, I think. Good to meet u have a great time here and help the brethren much love!

@ronniesutton: For those of us with a recovering junkie to manage, this line is a struggle. I have been fascinated to see how active junkies relate to Lou Reed and others who write about addiction -- it's a subculture that I have glimpsed online and in speaking with my husband when he is is high or actively using. Heaven help you. it may be that being high is the best you are going to get. If so, I hope you live and die without unnecessary pain and trouble, though I don't think this is likely. Based upon my observation of my husband's experience, I think most addicts suffer terribly.

We are burning from the dragon we are chasing our whole life. And so each one of us will go down in a beautiful but evil sunset. I hit the needle at 17, and I am 52 now. God gave me a chance and miracoulessly I managed to take it. I am still an addict but sober. Got a wife (Without you my love I wont be here typing, the mirical is you after all) , three kids and two grandkids (fourth is on her way). God bless you, us all, to face our settling sun in beauty and fullfillment when we finaly are becomeing ONE again.

Took me 30 years. Many rehabs. Many near death experiences. Family destruction. Jobs lost. Financial ruin. Many prayers prayed. Lots of begging God to help me. Why did my fervent prayers go unanswered? I was seriously asking for God's help. I'm a Christian. At last He did the miracle five years ago. I almost died then. But He said it's time. So He instantly took my addictions all away. Totally. True miracle! Never any cravings. Nor ER ambulance rides. Just Do Not Give Up! His timetable. Not mine. Even today REDHEADS get made fun of. ALSO most IRISH songs are about Drinking. I will admit us IRISH are different we have lots of Myths. Like when we die we come back as Vampires. 1 month ago I was in that hellish nightmare of Fentanyl withdrawals-violently puking in a sleepless, hopeless state of nothingness for 7 days, praying only to die. Today I have 30 days clean. I had to COMPLETELY give myself to a program of recovery, and do some serious soul searching. Along the way I develop a loving relationship with a higher power that I could understand, I let go of selfishness n self pity, and learned doing for others feels better than any drug I’ve ever done. DO NOT GIVE UP-EVER. I am proof it is possible, something I never believed before. Today I am truly happy. My life is far from perfect-I have family fighting cancer, a daughter that hasn’t spoken to me in years…But I’m alive today, and have a lot more to be grateful for than I ever realized. And I trust the other things will work themselves out as long as I keep close to a god of my understanding(nobody else’s) and keep doing the next right thing. I love you, and pray you find some peace, and allow God to help you through your struggles. It is ok to ask for help-I tried for 20+ years and it never worked until I could COMPLETELY SURRENDER, and humbly ask for help! Praying for you my friend ✌️❤️🙏. You CAN do this!! And are absolutely worth it!

Did my 12 hours in the ER today and was about to come home to my family when a guy drove up onto the sidewalk by the ambulance entrance and unfolded an unconscious wet rag of a man out of the passenger seat of his car onto the concrete. Barely breathing, but with a strong carotid pulse. We lifted him up onto a gurney and brought him inside. I am going to say thank you for Narcan right now. I started an IV and gave a dose and watched this man re-enter the world of the living. He was baffled and confused when he woke up in the bright lights surrounded by strangers and me taping tubing to his arm and speaking respectfully to him. Orienting him to where he was and what had brought him to me. I wrapped him in warm blankets and and kept talking to him. Soon he had stopped shivering and we were talking. His sisters came in to check on him. A man he works for came to be with him. The man has a one year old baby. He has a wife. He helps people as a mechanic in a rough, low income neighborhood. I genuinely liked him. He has a sweet spirit. I wish for him that he will put value in being alive and kick this.

my soul little brother got taken by heroin. In Philly, a bad batch came through and killed hundreds. Here's the thing. He had attempted suicide by overdose a year before. I went to see him in the hospital. He told me he was tired. That heroin robs your brain of the ability to feel pleasure. Life had exhausted everything in his soul. I think he wanted permission to go. Sadly, I tried to encourage him to live. He took that bad heroin on purpose. He was one of the most brilliant men I've ever met. Yes, he knew he was a setting sun. For a long time, too.

I have seen the needle and the damage done. Lyrics to this song hit hard. Bio father was hard into everything. Left my mom and I for the needle. Didn't know em much besides him shooting the needle. Got a call a few months back he OD'd on the side of the street in town. If your fighting. Keep fighting. Never stop. There are many who are in your corner whether you believe it or not.

In 2014, while I was working as security for The Country Music Hall of Fame, I had the pleasure of escorting Neil throughout TCMHoF. Such a humble, insightful individual. I've listened to Neil since the late 70s and been to many of his concerts, so I was in awe to be able to be in the presence of this musical icon and wonderful humanitarian! Thank You!

Dave Stevens I started drinking at 14 in 70s My neighbors paid me with 6- packs to cut there lawn. Addiction is crazy I drink 20 beers & still want more. Some how I kept my job for 28 years. Not fun in Court with Irish name. Didn't help going to Concerts & Football games. Paying $ 8.00 for a beer didn't stop me. 30 years drinking is long time, 1 thing sucked I never built a tolerance 7-8 sips I was buzzed. 1 good thing I never got in fights. I was so into music I would only go to bars that had a band playing.

1972. I was 9. My Father had very eclectic tastes in music, books, films. He explained the lyrics to me after I'd already scratched his album on the hi-fi, listening. I'm 60 now. My Dad's been dead more of my life than he was alive. HOW Neil Young could perfectly channel what others must feel, I don't know, but I know this much is true ...never did I imagine how many beautiful gifted empathetic artists I knew would die-just-like-the one-before-and-yet-to-be. Hell is never a choice is it? Perhaps it's true. We each choose our own demise. Why choose this???

used to play this song. The needle and the Damage done by Neil Young. I used to play this song and this song inspired me to write this.... Milk Blood 03/08/21 by Gerardo Molinar The siren starts to fade away as you lie motionless in the street, As that Mexican mud flows into your vein, it drifts you into a deep sleep. Flashbacks come and go as you drift in and out of consciousness, You battle to conquer the white lady as you try not to slip into darkness. You wanted to forget your problems when you first tried smack, "I won't get hooked" but that constant craving won't let you come back. To the simple life that you once knew filled with love and family, Now that milk blood runs thru your veins the dragon won't set you free. The band is still wrapped tight around your bicep, turning your arm blue, The syringe is now empty with the needle still sticking you. The voices echo inside your head as your life slowly drifts away, Another baggie of bad chiva will claim your life today. Help has finally arrived but it doesn't matter how much they try, There's no reaction to the Naloxone, they must record the time you died. Do not tempt the Beast and ask him for milk blood to help ease your pain, Once you have a taste from the white nurse, you'll never be the same. #poetryheals

My friend died when she was 18 I was 21, due to a drug induced coma her heart wasn’t strong enough to pull her out of. I learned this on guitar for her. I know when he says every junkies like a setting sun- it means that way of life is doomed to end the life of the individual. I just hope anyone reading this know you are not alone. Don’t forget that. There is another way. Love to all ❤
