the final scene from the movie "philadelphia" will make anyone weep,is utterly beautiful.
@2plicata-3728 жыл бұрын
I almost began to weep at the end of the movie but it was so not pathetically directed that I did not weep, actually I had been amazed how light and joyful the ending had been done : people are smiling at the memorial, and even when the character says I'm ready, there's peace. And that was indeed utterly beautiful.

my brother passed away from this disease in 1992. I'm not sure how many people nowadays realize how much the victims of this disease suffered in the 80s & 90s before the life extending drugs we're available. we watched my brother waste away in just a matter of months. in the end at 37 yrs of age he suffered from pneumocistis a deadly form of pneumonia that is easily cured by antibiotics but when you have no immune system it's deadly. he also lost his eyesight in his final week he had blisters covering his arms legs and in his throat. he had many other things wrong as well. to watch someone you love suffer like this is heartbreaking. my brother was a very very talented man who had so much to offer this world. so so sad. I hope to see him again someday.

This is just too beautiful a song and it's not that Bruce's isn't a good song, it is, but this is the one I want to listen to over and over and over. So that is why this is the better song. And I agree. It was the song that had the heart of the movie. And from my experience. It is the city of brotherly love. I tripped on a sidewalk once and a woman saw it happen and sat on the ground next to me to make sure I was alright. Will never forget that. I hope she reads this. Thank you so much young lady.

Sometimes there are movies that reflect, highlight and also alter the climate of a part of our human history; touch an age in our common humanity.. For me "Philadelphia" will always be one of those movies. And this song is a deep part of that. Also those micro-facial expressions of Tom Hanks.. Just how.. does he capture... He and Denzel Washington were astonishing.

A long time ago I spent two days in Philadelphia. I had different sorts of problems which made it for a bad time there but in spite of it all I could feel an energy there that I never felt anywhere else, something sad and beautiful at the same time. there is something poetic about it, I can't explain. I still hold it as a special place in my heart and I hope I can visit it again someday.

This song was far more in sync with the film itself, resonating more deeply with the film's story than did the other Oscar nominated song from this movie; Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Philadelphia" which although won, could've really been about anyone, be it a homeless individual or someone otherwise down on their luck while suffering on the streets of Philly. Neil got it right, and hit it out of the Park.

"At some point in your childhood, you and your friends went outside to play together for the last time and nobody knew it." Whenever I hear this song that quote springs to mind...I imagine a bunch of teenagers - on the cusp of parting ways to go to college, the workplace, to see the world etc...playing together, outside, for the last time, while this song plays in the background. As the song ends the closing shot is the group of friends walking away together, arms around one another's shoulders while two or three of them are play-fighting while walking
