Well on track I remember Piquet used to leave space so both cars could make the corner. In that sence he was not dirty like Senna or Schumacher, more like a risk calculating Prost. He was quick before the big Imola crash at Tamborello 1987.
@ssssssss6889
@ssssssss6889 2 ай бұрын
Yes, exactly. Because , Piquet is part of the generation that have loosed one or two driver ( if not more) each season thru late 70s and early 80s. Acting like Senna or Schumacher ( both never lived thru that era , arrived after) in certain circumstances would directly mean putting somebody's life in direct danger or jeopardy. And that's I believe why the drivers in the 60/70 and early 80 acted different. I firmly believe that the ratio of enduring threatning life injuries diminushing drastically mid-80s onwards reshaped slowly but surely drivers behaviors. Really, in some F1 races , I can nothing but only lough to how they behave on track, that's all to gether a different mentality now. If people drove like today with the 70s car , we would loose 3-4 driver each season , despite the asphalt run offs and better circuits (better in safety means only) etc.

I think this is a tribute to Senna more than a critic on itself. Nelson says Senna was a dirty driver but, in one way, also said Senna was it because he was fully committed to compete. And that’s what Senna always said: he was there to win and to win only. “Ou se mata ou se morre”

These are the words from a “F1 World Champion?” who NEVER demonstrated any skill or ability while driving a non-competitive car. In 1993 Ayrton Senna won 5 Grand Prix in a car that was non-competitive; many stated that in 1993 the McLaren was the third best car with Williams and Benetton being above, in reality it was the skill and magic of Senna who elevated the status of that car. @@scottyg22102938 As James Hunt said on the broadcasts “The only reason reason why McLaren is where it is, it’s because of Senna.” Senna won 40% of all races that he started in a McLaren, even Ron Dennis said that it’s an impressive statistic. When did Prost lose out on the championship twice? In 1990 in Japan? During that season the pole sitter was given the choice on what side of the track that he wanted to start on, Mr. Jean Ballestre denied Senna that opportunity in Japan without explanation. There’s a KZfaq video with James Hunt and Murray Walker where James Hunt places the blame on those coming togethers on Prost. Is the other time that you state that Prost lost the title because of Senna at Monaco in 1984? First of all, he lost the title by half a point due to his own volition because he wanted the race stopped as it was by Jackie Iyqx, Ballestre and company Ltd. Funny that they stopped the race that year at Monaco and the same figures didn’t do the same the following year at Portugal? At Monaco there was only one place on the track where some aquaplaning occurred whereas in Portugal there were many spots on the track where it was evident; even on the start/finish straight where Prost lost the back end of the car and crashed. You can teach me about F1 after 1994 and up to now however you probably didn’t wear short pants when myself and many others saw F1 races in person and on television. Are you aware for example that in the 1970’s the BBC didn’t send Murray Walker to many countries where the race was being held and that he did the commentating while watching the race on television? You mentioned Andretti; the comments he made in his brief time in F1 were puzzling to say the least….”In F1 the braking distances are halved”….”Standing starts place huge forces on the clutch.” Andretti went to F1 extremely arrogant and ignorant; he did very little testing because the title of Indy car champ went to his head, only after the fourth race did he stay in Europe otherwise he flew back to America after the race was over. Besides Senna who didn’t Piquet have altercations with. Watch a few of those races and you’ll see the evidence of a non-sportsmanship live on television. By the way, I find it interesting that during that era Prost is the only champion to have never been disqualified from a race after the results…his car was never underweight?…alterations to his car were always within the rules?…he never passed with yellow flags waving in front of him as was the case at Donington 1993?…his comments to the media were always non-partisan and non-biased?

I think a lot of people are missing the point here. As always, Piquet doesn’t miss the chance of poking at Senna, but at the end he is lowkey admitting that being able to act like what he called “dirty” is actually necessary in order to be a champion; cause you’re inevitably gonna be put in agonistic, fight-to-survive type of situations and you’re going to need to be able to be aggressive to win.

@@parallaxview2143 Stop talking abut a sport you have no understanding of. I raced for 10 years and I know it all. You are wrong on 3 counts - Your 1st error; There WAS a gap (as shown by the fact that he was fully alongside before Prost turned into him DUH) and Turn 1 was not an option - Prost has a lower aero drag set up with his gurney flap removed for higher top speed. Your 2nd error; it was Prost that was in panic mode when Senna turned up the heat and passed him - thats why he pulled such an amaeteur sideswipe effort - EXACTLY the same as the one that got Schumacher disqualified 8 years later in 1997 in Spain. Your 3rd error, Senna was outstanding under pressure - never flinched - classic example Monaco 92 when he held off Mansell who was swarmimg like a pack of bees all over him in a car 3 seconds faster - Senna was calm as a Hindu cow and placed the car perfectly everywhere to prevent Mansell passing. Schumacher and Verstappen have the same attitude and that's why they were/are so successfully. Senna best season was IMO in 1993 finishing second to Prost who was driving the superior Williams car.
