Thanks for your lovely video, Elizabeth. I, too, am excited about working with Gel Press. I just need more videos like this to keep adding to my repertoire! I love working with botanicals, too.

Love your technique of building layers with paint and leaves. I'm just starting with my Gel plate, so will be trying this for myself. Thank you!

This is really cool. Reminds me of when I was young and ran blueprints for an architectural firm. I would get bored and go outside and find different leaves. I would lay the leaves over blueprint paper and leave it out exposed to the natural light. I would get some pretty interesting patterns but not as cool as yours.

Well that' does sound very cool! Wish you had those papers now...

Elizabeth St. Hilaire Yeah. Me too. Some of my favorite pieces were experiments. I need to find a way to make art fun again.

play time is how we learn!!! Yeah... my suggestion? turn off the TV. if you are watching, it's likely several hours a day that you could use for making yourself happy through art! :)@@mikewadley2700

Hi Elizabeth,, may I ask why you don't like using newsprint for gel printing? Just wondering, as it's a nice cheap alternative,,, thanks.
@ElizabethStHilaire5 жыл бұрын
Karmakat59 it’s not white, it’s gray, and the colors painted on it are not vibrant. It doesn’t tear in a manner that I like. It’s a personal preference. I’d rather use old book pages. Much better quality paper.

@@ElizabethStHilaire Thanks,, that makes sense. I haven't tried newsprint but I just ordered some from Amazon (thought it was white). Wish I'd seen this earlier,, lol

Karmakat59 try uncoated butcher paper, it’s on a roll, inexpensive and white. I have not tried it on the gel plate yet myself, but it feels like nice quality paper. You will find that some paper works better than others on the gel plate, a total wide variety of results
