@@nsd781it’s a social media myth that Vidic wasn’t good on the ball. Yes Terry and Rio were better than him on the ball but Vidic wasn’t too far below, and then add all his other strengths and that’s what makes him the greatest PL defender ever.

john smith The number of fans is huge, one of the best in Europe. But having been to Old Trafford as an away fan, for a stadium that can hold so many, the atmosphere is terrible, which is a shame as a team like this, should be making the kind of noise you hear in Spanish stadia.

Whenever he played, there is always this sense of security and calm he brings not just to the players alone but to the fans too. We really felt safe when he's commanding the defence. A true captain and a leader on and off the pitch. Farewell Vida, its been a pleasure watching u as our captain. Dammit, Im okay when ronaldo left us.. Why am i being too emotional when Vida did.

What a legend. I still remember his performance in 2008 champions league final...What a warrior! He's genuinely going to be missed and will be very difficult to replace. Whoever takes the captaincy of Manchester United, they know how difficult it will be to replicate this legend. Wish you all the best at Inter and Thank You for everything.

Excellent player. He comes from Serbia. He might cause you pain. Back in '98/99 I was working for an EC/EU agency supporting post-war returns to Croatia. One of our cases was a lovely, very elderly blind woman who.lovwd alone on a tiny cottage on the middle of nowhere, in what were then acres and acres of snow and frozen water. She spoke fondly of a teenage grandson who was a youth player at Red Star. Lots of stories about him. Only many tears later when NV went to Man Utd did it click that it may have been hom she was speaking of. Vidić is not a rare name in those parts, but many of her stories add up... Ironic (given the surname) that she was blind. But she chopped the wood and split the kindling for her own stove and still had all her fingers. She must now be long dead, but I do wonder whether she was telling us wonderful tales of a young Nemanja. 😊
