such a good idea limiting cfg files would both make the op cfg files non usable and also let us use some configs for limiting fps changing fov (i personally don't change fov but limiting my fps really helps with consistent fps on my screens refresh rate) etc i would love it if respawn actually made the same changes you said in this comment idk how much config files meme strafing uses but it seems like a lot to do something like that

@@MW-kf9rf I believe this person is saying that any special hardware and external software to the game that may be used to easily and simply perform very difficult and complex actions requiring multiple or continuous inputs in a series that may be nearly or actually impossible with traditional or ordinary inputs should not be tolerated due to the notion that it gives a significant advantage over a person who is not using them. Since aim assist is a standard and supported feature in the game for all controller players, it would be relatively safe to assume it is not included in the same argument. In my opinion, the reason people are upset is because they feel that these tools allow their users to perform in ways they would otherwise not be remotely capable of with commonly accepted hardware and traditional inputs. They feel that this drastically lowers the skill ceiling and is unhealthy and toxic for general gameplay in a commonly competitive setting as it is unnaturally augmenting a player's input without any significant skill or increase in skill required to perform such advanced actions, maneuvers, and techniques.

From my testing it only worked during the 0.4 seconds though? Idk what testing you did but both games use source engine so I can't see why one would have a limit of 0.4 and another wouldn't

Same bro, past couple months I've changed my keybinds to get better movement and such, and it takes skill to actually do movement teh instead of using cfgs, kinda lame to the people that use cfgs (I also started to learn how to superglide recently and today I got 4 in a row)

If you saw the clip the way that neo does it without config is only a forward momentum way meaning he only goes forward and has no back imput and is not standing in place like with the config neo strafing

It doesn't seem very useful in apex mostly due to you usually not being airborne for nearly as long as in titanfall. It could be useful to know for octane jump pads but I think that's mostly it

it just allows you to move the same way you would on console where it autosmooths lurches while also having the ability to stack lurches when you want to

i agree, when u reach the point that you need macros in order to pull off some movement tech it becomes completely uninteresting and boring to me so im sticking with learning tap strafes completely manually

Please dont call this a movement “tech” - macros are one thing, but altering game files maliciously to gain an unfair advantage is cheating

@@dequasont1063 Its actually the other way around, using macros is cheating (since youre using third party software to gain an advantage), while altering configs is not cheating, since youre just using an option given to you by the devs themselves. Configs are (at the core) just advanced settings.

Same, I started in season 0 (mind u I started on ps4) when I went to PC (around season 9) I learned how to tap strafe and superglide and all these cool movement techs that now can just be done using cfg files, It takes real skill to actually be able to do movement and not really on a cfg to do it

Its much easier for you to do superglides on console , good luck tryna do them without cfgs on pc

It’s all us console players have is super glide, which is amazing but I still can’t believe respawn allows the use of config files while they’ve done everything to keep console movement as basic as they can, ie: the removal of punch boosting

@@abyzz6252 its way easier. Last gen consoles only run at like 40 fps. I went from ps4 at 42 fps and to pc at 144fps and now got a 6900xt at 280 fps. Its extremely harder to get super glides at 280 fps than at 42

100% agreed, unique movement is what makes apex for me. Removing or banning novel movement mechanics is just so lame when it adds so much depth and increases the skill ceiling past just being good at aiming and strategising.

I just recently finally got it down. I'm not great at it but I'm finding when I try to do it I'm doing it more consistently. Just went into the firing range and kept trying and I finally figured out the timing. So rewarding

In my opinion superglide configs are fine since the tech is frame dependent and its really difficult to consistently superglide on 240+ fps

@@angeldxst Apex becomes really weird over 200+ fps. I hard cap mine to 189fps with config files and I assume that a lot of pros do this as well. Although I do use the superglide config files I am still able to perform superglides without them albeit inconsistently. I think that the config files help tremendously with the timing but once I get the hang of it I am definitely removing them.

@@leek_san most pros play capped at 240 i believe unless they play controller. i play on 143 since im on controller and can do superglides pretty consistently without configs but i understand why people use them, the timing is really difficult.

Also don't forget to hold A or D, makes it much smoother and easier, and go slow and long on the up scroll. Try this beginner friendly tutorial, jump on the jump pad, press D AND space on your keyboard and keep holding them (it's easier so you don't have to think about your keyboard hand) and at the same time scroll up with your whole finger and turn your mouse to the right also in a controlled slower manner. Practice, and you will be able to do it fast.

Lower fps also means less lurch inputs (that actually register) which might also be the cause, if you're running on 60 fps or lower try scrolling slower and holding A/D while turning your view input

If the devs let us do it entire within their game with no 3rd party software then I can't get mad at any players for doing it, even if it is obviously unhealthy for the game. All they need to do is block the exec command from the autoexec. They've removed commands in the past like alias so this would be the simplest fix to meme strafing config chains.

95% of controller preds uses 3rd party softwares, you should talk abt these first before complaing abt movement config

devs have full control over launch options like configs, they've removed them in the past. when it's bannable ill stop ;) until then continue to get dunked on

Macro banned based game to game, well its mostly banned everywhere though. For config files most the times its allowed, its basically like change your setting but instead from the game you do it from desktop.
