A few videos ago, I told you about how the floating plants in the Neon Tetra blackwater aquarium were not doing so well. I removed most of them in the hope that the remaining would bounce back....well I didn't expect this!!

I found the floating plants like very low flow. Duckweed will grow anywhere but frog bit in the floating red and most of the medium size floaters I have very fragile roots. They usually also need liquid fertilizer if you don’t have a heavy fish load, but I have two tanks and a small tank I have to pull stuff out and throw it away because I’ve got nowhere else to put it and I put a lot in my larger tank but it has more flow and it rips a lot of the roots off and the plants tend to bunch up and the ones around the edges getting exposure to more water flow usually die off, they reproduce enough to keep going but the large tank it’s never more than a quarter of the way filled small tank is half the size but I have to throw half of them away every couple months because they grow so fast but that take has only a tiny sponge filter and very very low flow, they both have the same lights in the same water composition so the only difference I can see is the water flow and I can tell him the big tank the roots break off in the smaller tank they will grow all the way to the groundStart to grab on to everything and route if I let them go through every few weeks and cut them all down to about 3 inches but I think flow is a primary factor in the floating plants with the thin roots

Mines 180 litre Trigon. Triangle shape so sits nice in the corner. As long as you have some good bacteria, some nice algae to munch on they are happy. Well established tanks are best or tanks with good water quality and planted. They love making holes in my plants to be aware! I only feed low ash flaked food and a mix of blood worm, prawns, crushed cockles and brine shrimp as I have meat eating puffers. They will hoover up bits and Bob's off the tank floor so whatever sinks....they eat.

Tanks are looking amazing. Quick tip, to make your black water aquarium darker, try adding some rooibos (red bush) organic tea bags. I use ticktock tea, you can get it at sainsbury's. Personally I think black water aquariums look good when they're a rich ochre colour and not just yellow. That way people can tell what you're going for, and they don't just think your water's a bit dirty.

Two things I'd probably add for beginners: 1. Better do quarantine, unless you are sure about the source. 2. For juvenile SAE i's okay, but 1 meter at least for adult SAE (they grow over 15 cm). Other than that I really liked the video and gl with cyanobacteria. I never had those for more than a few weeks, but it can be pain to get rid of (although far less than say hair algea).

I love the ember Tetris, Petco here in America had a sale five for five dollars and I bought eight because that’s all they had but two of them look to be pregnant so I might have more soon. I had guppies in the tank but the last one died of old age last week so it’s about perfect timing for them there are shrimp and snails in there but they’ll be the only predators in that tank so I’ll leave it for a while and maybe see if they give birth if someone survive. I have very soft water so I have to add minerals to it, my tapwater is only 60 ppm with 0KH and OGH so pretty much rainwater and a lot of the water had evaporated so I added in some fresh over a few days and that’s often how you trigger Tetris to breed so I’m hoping they’re pregnant and not sick but they seem fine just really really fat now and it’s two of them so I’m hoping they’ll squirt out some babies soon. Lol.

Man, finally you have to WAIT!! I say this in a nice way :) I love your content, but usually, an aquarium takes weeks to be ready, and during this time the plants fill the space, the woods and rocks are moved to improve the hardscape, you know... I add my favorite fishy fish this week to my months' old aquarium and you are like - well this aquarium with fish is almost... 2 weeks old! - Please, enjoy your scapes, entertain yourself (and us!) with their growth, in my opinion there's no need to run so much, we don't need a new aquarium with fish every week, they lose values despite their beauty, take care and to the next video!

To breed the tetras you gotta drop the temp and the ph real fast like 10 degrees and the next day they should start breeding but the baby’s are so small they can’t eat fish foo and you have to make cultures for them to eat
