Awesome documentary. I remember my mom telling me, when my grandfather used to take them to Batticaloa and take them on a boat ride with 2 expert fishermen near the kalladi plama around 11pm on a poya days to listen this singing fish. She said it was a nice musical notes sound. Btw this was in 1970s.

I was a fascinating piece of documentary. The sound produced in the water mostly by reflection of aquatic noise it could be man made or natural . It was proven with research that a unique type of fish found to be making a buzzing sound and it can be heard in audible range. Read more on Frog fish or Dog fish but there are no proven evidence that this type of fish species are found in Kallady Bridge waters but the species could survive in fresh waters. Metal is a good conductor hence the old bridge that act as an antenna to channel the surrounding noise to the bottom. But to date no one have ever proven with scientific prove to this theory how this sound has been made. For me what ever is it i am so proud to be born and brought up in the land of singing fish and want to preserve this identity for our future generations
