Naina Tala is a folk song based on a tune and lines developed by Gurkha soldiers, who served in India.
Amrit Gurung heard this from his village elders, who lived their retired life in the villages around Pokhara of Kaski District, Nepal.
The tune stayed with him until he decided to research further, improvise on the lyrics and record it as a song from Nepathya. During this process, he met numerous Gurkha retirees, their children, and villagers, who had heard this song from their elders.
This is a Nepathya rendition of a folk song that originated from the camps, barracks, and trenches of the Gurkhas.
यस गीतलाई नेपथ्यले आफ्नो दसौं एल्बम रेकर्ड गर्दाको क्रममा सन् २०१५ मै रेकर्ड गरिसकेको थियो । आफूसँग संकलनमा रहेको यो गीतलाई नेपथ्यका गायक एवं अगुवा अमृत गुरुङले थप अध्ययनसहित परिमार्जन गरेर तयार पारेका हुन् । यस क्रममा उनले थुप्रै भूतपूर्व गोर्खा, तिनका सन्तान र गाउँलेहरुसँग भेटेका थिए । यसरी तयार भएको यो गीत पहिलोपटक लण्डन सहरको ओ टु एकेडेमी ब्रिक्सटनमा सन् २०१५ मा प्रस्तुत गरिएको थियो । त्यो कन्सर्ट ताका गोर्खा परम्पराको इतिहासले दुई सय वर्ष टेकेको अवसर पनि जुरेको थियो । त्यसै संयोगमा नेपथ्यले सम्पूर्ण गोर्खा सैनिक परिवारलाई समर्पित गर्दै यो गीत प्रस्तुत गरेको थियो ।
