I love all the videos, reviews and test that BRS produces to push the hobby forward. Such an invaluable resource. BUT this video seems rather puzzling given then many poor reviews and unsatisfied customers using this pump. Any retail website review or forum search yields a lot of people with Neptune pumps that stop working after a year. Would love to know why BRS selected this particular product as their product of the year?

I used one externally. Leaked right out of the box. It took not one, not two, but THREE replacement seals sent to me before it stopped leaking.

Really? I like apex, but the user reviews on this pump are abysmal. Every time you guys do a video to push a product everyone goes out to buy it no matter what it is so I am guessing this is a paid review. Funny how this was a 3 star review pump on your sight and now all of a sudden it’s 4 stars.

The feed mode dose not work anything like they say and after I do attempt it I have to spend two hours to try and silence my overflow again. I am going back to Vectra

My Apex failed and sent a shut down command to my COR 20, which wouldn’t let me use it until Neptune support did some backend internet magic to my malfunctioning Apex (a week later, as is their usual support model because you know it’s not like anything’s life might be on the line). I’m back to buying 2 decent AC pumps - one in use and the other as an emergency backup. Cheaper. Simpler. More reliable.

The saying goes, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Your plan forward seems to be on point, perhaps even better is to run 2 pumps at the same time so there is no need to swap during failure of one.

Hey man, if you ever need support on Apex let me know. I help a lot of people with programming specifically. I am not sure what they did to help you but the "FallBack" statement would have prevented that I think. There are a lot of ways to back up and have redundancies as well which I can show you. I am sorry you had so many issues with it :(

I believe everything You said, but as usual, on something that important, I’m not gonna ‘guinea pig’ until I see reliability and longevity which is the most important.

So very cool ! You really sold me . Having all that monitoring & controllability is fun & cool . I wasn't aware of all that . Does the apex monitor & control the varios pumps exactly the same or do you loss a few of the cool read outs or some of the controllability ? Is reliability on the increase ?

The Apex can only control the VarioS pump with a 0-10V input and monitor the power draw from the outlet it is plugged into. It definitely won't have nearly the amount of features and monitoring as the Neptune COR.

Nice pump but I rather get a jebao which comes with all the same features and the protective intake . The only good thing about this is the APEX compatibility

Nearly every single pump on the market is controllable via any controller via 0-10V input. You don't have to be certified to do that. It's one of many industrial standards.

Jebao / coralbox 4000 and larger are plug and play with apex for all newer models.

This review does not take into consideration the other return pumps - so why the best? If you do an extensive review on reef2reef, there's an emerging trend that the Cor pumps don't last as long as some of the more established products. There's just not enough data out there - but I suspect these Cor return pumps are solid enough.

Neptune has really gone downhill, especially with the cheap parts they use and the service they provide. They only have one service tech Kyle and his job is to up-sell you. They are the only company I know who tells you that their system will probably fail somewhere between 18-24 months and you need to send them more money to keep it going so they can charge you $200.00 to replace some tubing and a small pump from China. So glad to now go with Hydros. The product and parts are so much more advanced they Neptune.

@@nickspiros1519 They reviewed MULTIPLE return pumps. They also Sell MULTIPLE return pumps. This one hands down is one of the best. "Getting Kickbacks" really man. They sell the product along with other products.
