Fun trivia about cordyceps, if what i read was right, the cordyceps doesn't mind control the ants, it digs into their body and controls it, leaving the mind intact, wich means they don't mind control the host, but they control the body while the host is likely concious, wich i find magnitudes more nightmarish

So, a very likely reason why just pulling the worm out doesn't fix anything is that if even a single segment of the worm's body is left in the host it will simply regenerate into a new worm. Plus, given that the worms spread through blood spitting, who says they play by a one worm/one host rule? They may be laying eggs and fertilizing them inside a host while setting up for spit transmission. This movie really does look like a headache.

not to mention that with the "main worm" being removed dear old stacey could still hear the worm in her mind trying to control things. there are likely tiny worms in her brain and other worms growing to replace the spinal worm if it somehow malfunctions. this is almost BONE HIVE levels of parasitic infections.

I think any apocalypse scenario really just boils down to how lucky you are. But…the next best thing is the Nerd Explains army! Also, there is not a parent on earth that would leave his children to fend for themselves to “potentially” save his wife that he cheated on. Call her and tell her to get out of the airport ASAP…then throw your girls in the car, stop by the house to grab food, guns, and brand new teenage love interest for reasons and get out of dodge. Hopefully meet up with wife, but more then likely, she was already on a plane with recycled air in close proximity to at least one infected person. She is already gone. She drew the short side of the wishbone.

I hate "horror" movies where the only horror is that the writers expect us to accept agonizingly stupid plot points and decisions made by characters just to enjoy it. Give us some horror movies where the antagonistic force is ACTUALLY nigh unstoppable or unbeatable and not just suddenly helpless and easy to beat when it calls for the protagonist to defeat it. A quiet place almost got it right with the aliens being essentially impervious to damage, the only stupid part is that they expect us to believe that a deaf teenager figured out how to defeat the aliens, when what was most likely millions of scientists could not. This shit movie is automatically a 0/10 just because of how lazy they got with the solution alone. Sure, the teenage girl discovered the one way to defeat the virus that millions of medical professionals could not. Immediate turn off.
@Dr.k0ckersmd

Well due to the expelling of fluids and the constant movement and lack of medical care for wounds, infected like this wouldn't last for longer than a week or so. The lack of proper nutrient intake to fluid expelling is far to unbalanced for the body to last, however; some viruses and bacteria and fungi can replicate generations far quicker than most humans. They can start to regulate the body over time. I am in the early stages of studying for my phd in virology, so i apologize for the below par explanation.

I will totally agree with Nerd on this one: Teenagers with little to no experience, precaution, or common sense that isn't ruled by emotions should not be able to triumph over this thing and the rate that it infects and grows. The plots surrounding these types of films have gotten so bad that even seeing a teenager centered on a movie poster is enough to get me to think twice before going to see a movie. Last time I enjoyed a teenage-centered story was probably the How To Tame Your Dragon movies, since my flair for going to the theaters in general took a nosedive shortly after the third one.

The siblings remind me of my own sister during peak COVID period, where the virus was extremely lethal and the government was trying its best to maintain order and quarantine red zones. My sister would constantly nagging me to go to movie theaters, went out to eat etc, basically going out in public because she felt "suffocated" being inside. When I said no, she would mock me being a party pooper and that the virus wasn't serious ( "it was just another flu thingy", her words) So while it was really annoying to see how these sisters acted, it wasn't unrealistic, considering how I had to endure with one stupidity like that. If it wasn't for our parents calling her directly to scold her (we lived abroad for studying and working), she would continued trying to drag me out, all because she needed someone to hang out with.

49:08 thermal imagining can't "see" through walls, as in detect any real detail, but you can detect heat signatures through solid objects like a wall. My family have a few med students and I’m a nerd. A rage/zombie virus is close to impossible even to artificially create. Firstly reanimation of a human for something like a virus or parasite is impossible. Think of insects bodies and their brains, relatively easy compared to a human body. Having a host control movement, sight, reaction and all of that would be incredibly complex especially long term. Secondly having it happen from a bite, scratch or slight exposure again for humans is not something that could happen. The immune system would instantly boot up the moment it’s detected, and let’s say it fights through the immune system. A) I doubt a small bit can control all of you and all the complexities. B) Your body decomposing would be hard on it. No blood stream around a massive body, meaning it would have to expand energy to spread ad fight. Muscle atrophy causing weakness. Your eyes decomposing so you cant see. Finally, objective. Taking over insects and spreading that way is way easier than evolving and/or expanding energy to control and fight a human body. The risk to reward of it is just not smart. Life’s objective is to multiply. In the far future possible short term control could happen, but actual “zombies” that we know don’t make sense. Ever wondered how all walkers in the walking dead after years somehow still have eyes? They’d be long gone. Same with their muscle tissue and brain.

What about a more 28 Weeks Later-style rage virus? So not infected individuals who die and re-animate. Rather, hyper-aggressive humans. Always felt this "version" was more in tune with reality, but would love a medical opinion on it

Also just chiming in, the climate would also cause decomposition so quickly that in warm humid climates, the body would literally slough off and within two or three days would be completely immobile, and in cold climates, it would freeze the joints, and would be immobile within a day or so. It takes a lot of energy to move a body. Also all of the pathways for someone to hear sound, would degenerate as well, so very quickly there would be nothing for a body to chase. With that all being said, if a rage virus broke out, that could be more catastrophic. Although I feel like most countries would just “chemical plant explosion” the cities right off the map and it would be contained quickly.

@@adrianolah9074 Without basic maintenance their bodies would give in quite fast. Especially if they are running everywhere. The whole thing would die out way before you reach the 28 weeks mark. It might not even reach the 28 days mark if propper countermeasures are placed in time and the virus fails to accquire new hosts after the initial outbreak. And even if the infected were still capable of eating, drinking and sleeping, the virus is not the only contender to the human body. All the raw meat and untreated water could bring other diseases which don't care to keep their host functional. Pair it up with the, most likely, impaired immune system that just lost against a virus and even the common flu could bring them down. Spreading through bodily fluids is common enough amongst pathogens and inducing hyper-aggressiveness is possible by affecting the right parts of the brain, however natural pathogens have little incentive to evolve in this specific way and for artificial ones there are far better choices to pick from.

@@adrianolah9074 Rabies basically does that to animals, and humans can catch rabies too. So, in a way, we sort of already have that, just on a very small, manageable scale. But even if we did have movie-accurate rage zombies, you wouldn't be looking at a complete breakdown of society like in the movies. Those things would be dead within a couple of days due to dehydration and infection, and the whole thing would wrap up entirely within about a year.

May i suggest that we upgrade the peasant spear into a peasant halberd, the design is mostly the same with the difference that you also have a secont knife positioned horizontally ( look real halberd online ). I think it's worth the extra effort, not only because it allows you to deal more damage with swing attacks, but also because zombies don't feel pain and don't have self-preservation instincts. If you use a spear like the one Nerd shows in the video, you will need to hit the bones to stop it. If you hit a softspot they'll just impale themselves to get close to you like that guy at the end of 300 and then you'll be fucked. The same knife positioning but cutting the broomhandle in half for an homemade war pick as a side arm if you lose the pole arm is also recommended.

I’m actually upset that the protagonists survived this. I mean from a purely logical perspective they wouldn’t have survived, and from a Darwinism perspective it probably would have been better had these two not been included in the small population of humanity left to reproduce. #liability

Yeah they rubbed me the wrong way. The world was dealing with something new and I feel he did the best he could. All the kind that criticized him constantly through Covid were also the ones screaming he’s racist when he wanted to shut down travel to the US from China. And for all of Biden’s “I can fix this” rhetoric, when he took over he did nothing new and used the exact same advisors Trump was using.

Could you please do a “how to beat” video on a movie called “attraction” or it’s second part? It has cool alien water benders and giant space ships capable of deep faking , controlling mass media and framing people for domestic terrorism. And it has a cool revolution and a government corruption scheme.(It also has a cool underwater scene).I am asking for the one hundred and forty fourth time and will continue asking.
