As crazy as that sounds it changed my entire understanding of art on a screen. That show changed my perspective, it’s the litmus that I hold everything against. Unfortunately, nothing has compared. I wish I could watch it for the first time again.

@@jhansen6180 literally this is so true same, its funny cuz to some people who are just one time watchers it hardly means anything to them, but there's us who it just means everything to, and yes nothing compares, I think since watching my way of thinking of other characters in shows has changed and it made it Idk, more interesting lol

@@jhansen6180 I completely agree! This became the gold standard. It’s difficult NOT to compare it with everything I consume and create and, as others here have said, nothing has come close to comparing imo, even 10 years later. It’s clear everyone involved in the making of this show did the absolute best job they could possibly do. A perfectly oiled machine that went off without a hitch. I feel so lucky we’ll always have this show, but even if it never is expanded upon, I do hope the creatives are able to come together on other projects again and again. Truly some of the most talented people in the industry👏👏👏

I first saw Mads in Casino Royale. I thought "fuck, this dude's gonna go places" not knowing his career up to that point. Fast forward years and I heard about the show and was adamantly against it. I was fiercely against anyone but Anthony Hopkins playing the role. I didn't pay attention to any news or promotion, didn't watch a trailer, nothing. My dad DVR'ed the show and told me it was great. It was about 4 episodes in and I begrudgingly sat down and started watching the first episode. I liked it but was just... pissy that at some point I'd see someone pop up playing Hannibal during the episode that wasn't Anthony Hopkins. Part of the way in you see his hands cutting up some food on a plate and the camera pans up as he takes a bite and my heart leapt into my throat and I realized he was the guy from Casino Royale and I straight up cheered at the TV. I watched all 4 episodes on dad's DVR in one sitting. Mads is now the Hannibal I have tattooed on my arm (sorry, Sir Hopkins) and he has become my favorite actor of all time. I have watched so many of his weird and wonderful films and any time I get to see another Mads performance, it's a good day.

This show means the absolute world to me. I've gained life long friends through it, it made me feel seen in my queerness (not just hannigram but Alana and Margot very much as well) and was one of my first forays into actual horror as a teenager. Im 23 today and it's still my favorite show. I rewatch it every 1 or 2 years and always find new layers, new aspects that to pick apart and stuff that resonates with me. Horror and gothic fiction are my absolute favorite genres now, which Hannibal set a high bar for at a young age. I will always hope for a fourth season!

Your comment resonates with me. I like to take screenshots at moments that stand out to me and write down my thoughts on them, around 20 per episode. I always watch my Blu-ray set, and what gets me about this show is that the cinematography is so striking it often looks like you're watching 4K even though it's just 1080p. It's a staggering artistic achievement on so many levels. The dialogue alone. Oh, the dialogue.

Well, Happy 10 years of Hannibal :D Thank you for this interview with Bryan Fuller - the way he talks about the show is introspective and heart-warming and kind. Though I'm not primarily much watch the show like many Fannibals (because the gore stuff 😅, i perceive things very physically), and this show mainly about mentally, but I feel good for the Fannibals, the people that Bryan said they watch the show and feel themselves not being othered, being sympathized, and help them figure their true values and core, and how Hannibal portrays queerness in a open way, not suppressing, because it's simply about love between two human beings. And excellent actor choice of Mads for Hannibal role too, so that's when we have Hannibal fandom today :D And I love how humbled and being pure amazed and happy when Bryan first heard the word 'Fannibal', it's very wholesome of him, trying working out the show in remote places and receive positive feed-backs in the publication. And how he puts himself mostly as an audience to progress the show trajectory, so Hannibal is something poetic, visual, metaphoric, and meaningfully intuitive about every action, so it does not have many mainstream audiences but attracts loyal portion of watchers. Hope for the continuity of this show in the future, #HanniversayX :D

Thank you, Ro, I immensely enjoyed your interview with the legendary Bryan Fuller. Based on the way you warmed his heart I doubt he is going to wait for another 10 years before he speaks with you again. Should you review the comments on this video there's one thing that unites us all, we all want another season but Bryan has made it clear as to why that would not fly. So we need a more strategic approach, one that he cannot refuse. For the love of art use your wild charm and encourage him to create a series on the life of Seneca (Mads Mikkelsen) and his diabolical relationship with Nero (Hugh Dancy).

that would be great but the thing about creating the 4th season is that they have to get the rights to a lot of other characters which is _quite_ difficult because theyre divided between a lot of companies. thats why the show clarice was cancelled because they couldnt even say the name ‘hannibal’ without potentially getting sued. season 4 also is meant to follow ‘the silence of the lambs’ which they couldnt get the rights for. its honestly just really chaotic and im hoping for a miracle because i really want a s4 too😭

The reason why Hannibal was successful at first was the quality of the adaptation, the acting, the production, the storytelling, that was the reason why most fans loved the show, not because of the invented "representation", or "inclusivity", or his need to be seen - his current claims in this interview are disingenuous. Bryan took an established story, that was quite "straight" in fact, but then decided to go full fan fiction in the third season, disrespecting the nature of the characters as they were established in the books after the success of the first 2 seasons which were praised by everyone for their quality. The reason why people watched it was the popularity of the source material and its previous on screen adaptations and because of the participation of Mads Mikkelsen, not because of the fan fiction pairing of Hannibal and Will.

Dude have you ever heard of an adaptation that was BASED on some other work?? Like that is inspired by either a novel or movie or any other story but a different kind of adaptation? Because beleave me thats not a new concept. I get it if you're a fan of the books or movies but there are a lot of differences with hannibal the show and the books and movies. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate and it isn't. That doesn't automatically make it bad. Also the "disrespectful" of the characters is such a sad complaint, mf they are FICTIONAL characters who cares if the show has queen undertones, if anything it made it more interesting! Why have a story be told the same way over and over again when you can do something different if you have an idea? From your coment I'm just getting that your pisse that they made hannibal and will in love or something and I'm sorry to tell you but it is what it is.

Old thread granted, but what turned me off on the show when it aired was I was so over any retreads of these novels. Once I finally got into it, I appreciated they did something with it that was different but lacked that "Oh! We're diverging" signposting. Those three series told a complete story. The romance hooked me later.

Everybody has different views and viewpoints. I'm not saying they can't talk about it, but it also didn't need to be half the video. As I said this show was great, there could've been many more things that could've been discussed.

The literal show runner is telling you the most important element of the show was its queerness. Seems a little #rude to negate that point on the 10th anniversary of his creation, doesn’t it?
