I think it goes a little deeper than that. Remember that Siegel and Shuster were Jews, and that Germany had been at the forefront of the drive for industrialization. Henry Ford sold tanks to the Nazis and George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, sold oil to the Nazis to run those tanks. Superman was essentially the Golem of Jewish folklore, an unkillable and super-strong creature, brought to life by the Hebrew word Emet imprinted on its forehead, a word which means... "truth." Sound familiar?

I always found it funny how it could be interpreted out of context that superman was just smashing some random car for no reason

You know what I'm gonna say it. Superman looks better with the underwear. I know some new 52 fans hate it, but lets be honest the costume looks better with it.

Obviously Reign of the Superman was not a metaphor for the nuke since they were first used in 1945 and the comic was from 1933.

Wait... so the reason Lois wouldn't be with Clark was because he'd ABANDON HER when she needed him??? Poor Lois... even for acting like a wimp, that's too far... it wasn't that she was unwilling to be with him... it was just that she wanted someone willing to stand up for her... and it was during an age where a woman needed a man much more than they would now (and let's be fair, for thousands of years, men wanted women for their looks, and women wanted men for power and stability... it's only recently where we are judging women for wanting to marry rich even if that's how it was for thousands of years).

Not exactly. The hidden meaning of the cover is that here we have an impossible man-- an alien --frustrated with living in a delicate world he doesn't belong in, exercising his frustrations against the only other thing that can withstand it. It's years of isolation and secrecy bubbling to the surface in the only times he can demonstrate it. It's not a war on technology he's waging as much he just has to pick and choose his moments when he can exorcise some human emotions.

After watching this, I'm now thinking about how interesting Superman's partnership with Batman is. The one originated as a way to critique technology while the other leans on it so heavily. Idk, it kind of puts their whole relationship of generally mutually supportive while occasionally trying to tear each other apart in a whole new light for me.
