Why tether yourself to the room rates of one hotel brand or the airfares of one airline, and their labyrinthian points values and systems, when you can use cash back cards and then shop on price?

In my personal experience you get more value with the rewards than with cash back. I redeemed points for a first class flight for like 200k points which when converted to money is $2k. But the flight actually cost $6k. So if i had $2k worth of cash back I would not have been able to book that $6k flight which i got for 200k points.
