Biggest game changer for me in cornering was reading “A twist of the wrist” by Keith Code. It exposed the reality that cornering was about the nervous system and tactics to remove survival responses. Absolutely worth a read.
@xyphenius99422 жыл бұрын
Biggest cornering tip for me was to push down the inside hand on your handle bars, while pushing hard on your outside leg. This pushes your bike to the side, which means you can bring your body more into the middle. This changes the centre of mass more towards the middle.

Varia Radar is a real game changer in regional SE Qld. Fantastic! You hear the beep and the first thing is a tendency to shift left which provided the closing driver with movement (on top of the tail light). Avoids the 'surprise' factor totally.

2:06:00 I think it’s important to remember that most cyclists aren’t really seriously training, even those that are relatively keen - cycling is a hobby and a distraction and a source of entertainment - it’s for for people to “play” at training but there’s little motivation to commit to serious structured training in the long term, it’s fun to take part in Zwift challenges and short term training plans but not as a long term commitment. Life is too messy and uncertain to make those kids of commitments hence why one off events and group rides in Zwift are so popular - you can dip your toe into pretending to train “like a pro” for a short string of events (or even a single ride) before moving on. I know it sounds ineffective and it probably is but it’s just that for the vast majority of riders it’s about just finding fun riding activities on short notice as work and family commitments allow. Very often people literslly find a spare hour and just jump on and pick a ride at random on Zwift but could t necessarily have committed to finding even an hour of time in that day even 24 hours in advance.

I was too late…. But would greately appreciate if you could answer my question: Does insuline sensitivity basically determine the maximum uptake of carbs per hour? & The fact that the uptake limit varries, does this has some corrolation to that basically the more fit you are, the higher insulin sensitivity you have?

RE Sports Science Podcasts: 1. Huberman Lab 2. Stronger By Science 3. Iron Culture 4. Mark Bells Podcast with some SMEs in Endurance / Performance / Nutrtion could be worthwhile too. Also, anything with Andy Galpin is usually high tier. Note that the above podcasts are more specific to strength and conditioning.

Excellent guys Was just walking over pac hyw and thinking of you 2 , then come in the door and there you both are, uncanny. As for the eating under your expenditure I agree. The only thing is Harely really Tee's off on that for ever now. But he's also always taken gear so its kinda frustrating. I've defo lost a few kgs restricting and it f ed me up to the point of proving harleys protocol. But I guess just eat high carb low fat is the message, and everyone is different.

Nice video guys. On calorie deficit - in the EU at least, calorie numbers cited by food manufacturers are allowed to understate calories by as much as 10%, so people who think they are running a calorie deficit may not be. Best way is therefore to eat natural foods to ensure a deficit is achieved

1:42:00 if you don’t have time to properly clean your bike chain after a ride in the wet (or just to ride you over while you have a shower and refeed before clean in g your bike) then nothing works as well as a quick squirt of WD40 on chain and cassette if you have that in Australia? It’s literally designed to displace water and prevent rust. Not as environmentally friendly as some products I’m sure but you only need to use a tiny amount and it dispenses as fine mist so there’s minimal runoff/environmental contamination. Game changer in the winter months for me here in the UK.

Re riders paying to be on teams: Riders paying to be on teams is consistent with the reality that its a pay to play sport. Yes you need talent and yes you need hard work, but good bikes cost good money, crashes happen requiring replacement of broken frames frames and mending of damaged bodies, components wear out, you need to buy a power meter, good coaching costs money that adds up over the months and years, many races require significant travel to get to. It all costs something and it never really works out financially, i mean even those who made it to world tour and made a career out of it, if they put that same time talent and dedication into a business or career they'd make more money from that then cycling. Cycling professionally or non-profesionally is always something you have to do for love of the sport knowing the financial and other opportunities lost.

38:00 with you 100% on not wanting a coffee shop stop during or after a ride. Stopping mid-ride just cools you down and makes it hard to get going again, they’re not called “cafe legs” for nothing. And sitting around stewing in sweaty bibs after a ride is just grubby and a recipe for saddle sores and makes no sense either to me - I just want a hot shower. I utterly love brunches in a good cafe, and I love a good ride out, but never the twain shall meet 😁

In terms of sprinting at the end of a 20 minute test, if it’s done right I don’t think you should be able to raise the power at all, if anything Vo2 max power at best
@XX-is7ps2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no! The brain/“central governor” almost always keeps something in reserve, and you can figure out how to release it. If you look on researchgate you can find a number of papers showing that participants can increase their TTE past initial point of failure when presented with “carrot” (financial incentive), “stick” (being shouted at) or even by revealing that they’re being watched/recorded/judged. I think the evolutionary basis is that your brain is always both (a) trying to protect you from undertaking unnecessary energy expenditure but also (b) saving something in reserve if you’re outpacing s lion that’s chasing you in case *another* lion jumps out at you from the side 😅 100% though if you can figure out how to tap into one of those mechanisms, you can always sprint at the end of an FTP test no matter how impossible it seems.

I feel like instead of helping content creators pushing out enjoyable stuff to watch, a lot of people are asking a professional coach for (zone 2) training ‘answers’ without paying anything in return. Ya’ll might as well read the whole Andy Coggan’s book, do-your-own-research and try things out, this is literally doing intervals on the sofa waiting for training tips to get served up on a silver platter 😂. Anyway, good stuff as always 🤌

1:02:00 what is the objection to people paying to be on teams given that the team positions are unsalaried at that level? I don’t really see what the problem is - teams would always have to balance financial management with rider ability - you’re not going to take on someone hopeless if it’s going to rob you of chance to be competitive as a team, but until such a time as the teams figure out a way to make money from the sport at that level and pay their riders, I don’t have a problem with it

All you need for a one day race for a pro is 6weeks. It's only a one day race no need to back up. The nrs riders got no clue how good pros are compared to them until Every January. And he's worked harder over the course of 7 years to be good enough to do this.
