My fondest memory of this game - my dad rented this for my brothers and I when it first came out. He was watching us play it and when whoever was playing it at the time had Dirty Harry eat a chili dog my dad asked what we were doing. We said that in the game eating chili dogs gave you extra health. My dad replied "that's not all that eating chili dogs will give you" and everyone burst laughing.

The first level is 30 minutes LONG! Compared to the other two, the first level can be a game in itself!

Those goddamn sewers were the bane of my existence as a child... I never made it to the 2nd level where you fight all the dudes who look like Andy Capp. I had the code for Alcatraz what a shit show that was trying to beat it as a kid. This game, Top Gun, and Hudson Hawk accounted for about 98% of the times a controller was thrown in rage at the tv in my childhood.

Even though the Kingpin is the final boss and he is tough, the boss before him is the toughest in the game.

Everyone gives this game a bad rap but for it's time it was pretty fun, especially as a kid when you just got to blast bad guys away with that 44 with no care in the world.

I think people let nostalgia blind them to what were/are mediocre games, because it was what you were exposed to as a kid. This was released in 1990, Super Mario Bros. 3 had been out a few years, the Sega Genesis a year, and the SNES was a year away from being released, for the time it was a thoroughly mediocre game leaning on its license. To be fair, there was no shortage of mediocre platform games on the NES trying to capitalize on a popular license. It's not like these game had stellar reviews even at the time - it turns out that game players had some baseline standards even in gaming's nascent stages, because there were superior games to compare to.

I played this game a while ago and thought it was awful, but the graphics, music, theme, ideas, all really stuck with me. Years later I'm revisiting and yes, the controls are weird, the first level is a maze, but it's kinda growing on me. I think this game does a few things no other has, and it stands out in the NES library for that I'd say!

It's like this game wanted to be a sandbox beat em up. I THINK. Not sure. But I think effort went into this game. The joker room is still extremely dickish though.

I would be willing to wager that without passwords more than 80% of the people who played this game didn't get past level 1. @JagOfTroy made it look easy, Level 1 is beat your balls in hard, especially the sewers, there's several places you can "soft lock" yourself there alone, not including the "Ha Ha Ha room."

the game doesn't suck. The controls are clunky and it can be hard but it doesn't suck. It's far superior to mario, that's for sure, including the controls.

Thanks for the upload, but this game was awful and almost as bad as Bill and Ted's. It should have been a game you needed the gun for and not a side scroller.
