His legacy is a rare one; while not at the talent level of the Splinter, he carried the same torch of altruism and philanthropy as Williams

He was my favorite baseball player! I was a knuckleball pitcher in college in the 90’s & I watched him whenever I could! RIP

I grew up watching him pitch and I loved whenever he was the starter. I also remember him coming in from the bullpen. As a kid it was really fun to watch the knuckleball and the catcher with the larger glove struggling at times! You will be missed. Thanks for the memories.

“Why did it have to be Wake? (In reference to the Boone homer)…because he was man enough to handle that situation with grace and humility.

Damn. I hate seeing Lou like this. Rip wake I’ll never forget may 1st 2006. The police escort, Damon’s return, Ortiz homer off Mike myers. But to me the real play of the game: Jason Giambi hits a grounder to first, youk steps on 1st, then fires to 2nd to double off jeter who over ran the bag, Alex Cora blocked the bag. That’s my manager.
