I don't think Netflix realizes how much this matters to Gorillaz fans. We're given small glimpses into the Gorillaz everyday life, most of it just being centred around lore. But having a movie basically showing us how they interact with each other more clearly, is truly a dream come true. And then Netflix just has to be a bitch and ruin every good show they had going on for them.

Not a good look canceling projects that made them unique and with them buckling down on password sharing there continuing down the path to being obsolete.

my guess -- Gorillaz will go through with making the movie anyway, with a different studio, it will be a hit success, and Netflix will (unsurprisingly) regret their decision yet again.

Kinda glad it happened while also disappointed. I feel Gorillaz works better as an Adult Swim show than a movie, and either way, they deserve better than Netflix.

as a big Gorillaz fan I'm upset that I never knew that they wanted to make a movie, and now it's even disappointing that it's possible that I will never get to see it. It's something every one of the Gorillaz fans feels like they need to see after looking into the lore of the characters and the story. There are shorts of the band character interacting each other and it would be so cool to see how time pasted and compare how they interact with each other now compared to back in the 90's. Netflix has disappointed us all but it's no surprise after what they've been up to for the past two years now.

It's not the only Gorillaz movie that was cancelled. Back before the Demon Days album came out in the mid 2000s there were plans for a Gorillaz movie that ended up being scrapped

Honestly, I feel that HBO would be more willing to assist in making this project for how big Gorillaz is, and the story lore behind them would draw so many people in even old fans that may have dropped off for a while. Bad move on Netflix for cutting so much of their shows and unreleased projects. They're just hurting themselves the more they try to make changes.

As a long time fan, I am not surprised at the cancellation of another Gorillaz movie attempt. Literally since phase 1 they have tried to do a movie, and each time SOMETHING has stopped it. I swear Netflix is just asking to go out of business atm they keep cancelling shows that have like full on passionate fandoms in favour of crap like the kissing booth and bloody riverdale. They debut a couple of years before I was born but I’ve essentially grown up with the members of the band. And their storyline is absolutely bonkers and honestly doesn’t make the most sense but I still find it so fun and I’ve always thought they’d make an epic movie. I’m hoping they’ll get a movie somewhere, I honestly think they could take their script to a more independent animation studios or individuals. Since the premise of the music has always been based on collaboration I think I’d be a sick idea to collaborate in a similar way on the film too.
