In this Netflix Cowboy Bebop review, I explain why the Cowboy Bebop Netflix adaptation is good and worth watching. If you look at it separately from the classic anime, the Cowboy Bebop live action actually has a lot to like. From its aesthetics and performances to the music and certain elements of the writing, the show does work for American TV.

Well reasoned and balanced opinion. Having seen neither the original nor the remake, I can’t make a judgment call myself. Sounds like the TV show has good writing, but didn’t live up to anime fans’ expectations. Then again- it’s super difficult for remakes to live up to beloved classics in general, which is likely why they made their own plot. Can’t avoid direct comparisons, but you can diminish their impact.

I honestly don't think anything could have lived up to the anime, so it was smart to do their own thing for sure. I think something can simultaneously be a good piece of media and a relatively poor adaptation of the source material.

The anime was a huge inspiration for me growing up 💜 I still loved the live-action! It doesn’t have to be the same because the original still exists!

I agree. I actually enjoyed the live action movie Death Note despite terrible reviews. I watched it with no expectation that it would compare favorably with the original story.. Of course, it was just an average movie. The Death Note anime is exceptional, one of my favorites.

Coming into it was no expectations is the way to go. If it's bad, you're not disappointed, and if it's decent/good you're pleasantly surprised.

Really nice assessment, very fair. Bebop is my GOAT and I still Enjoyed the Netflix for a lot of the reasons you nailed. Best adaptation yet?

I think the live action is really good (obviously has some faults) and I goat the anime. I was hesitant to watch to because of the reviews so i'm glad i did.

I wanted to give it a fair shot, and I was pleasantly surprised! While it wasn't the masterpiece that the anime was, I still enjoyed it a lot.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have liked it if the live-action was identical to the anime… it would be so weird!
