Set during the Ming dynasty, the drama revolves around the food bureau of the imperial palace. To host diplomatic corps and government intelligence agencies from around the world, the Yongle Emperor decides to recruit women who are talented in cooking to the food bureau. After a tough selection, Yao Zijin manage to enter the food bureau as a palace maid. She meets Lu Xingqiao, a former beggar and Su Yuehua, a genius cook. The three of them work together and encourage one another, coming up with unique cuisines which incorporate Chinese medicine, and also re-creating old classic famous dishes. Yao Zijin slowly works her way up in the food bureau, and also improving her craft at the same time. Finally, she realizes the real meaning of "food" and decides to give up competing for the position of "Shang Shi", instead deciding to leave the palace and spread the beauty of Chinese cuisine among the ordinary folks.

Its...true the only one's complaining about the pairing are #xukai so call immature fans, they think they own xukai!! The bullying is got so bad towards Bailu to the point that even her family got threatened 😣they wouldn't leave her alone, #xukai's fans keep harassing BL every chance they got!!😠I think/ I want to believe the was the main reason they #xukai and #bailu unfollow each other on weibo!! To the complainers stop being petty n finding faults where there’s none. Xu Kai n Bai Lu are a phenomenal couple n pairing these two together makes lots of sense, their screen presence, chemistry n acting are fantastic! I can understand why Producer/Director cast them together again, coz choice is so obvious. Besides possibly Wu Jingyan for Xu Kai, Bai Lu is great pairing for Xu Kai. Many many of us can’t get enough of watching Xu Kai n Bai Lu together again. I say give credence to the acting, story n quality and less focus on pettiness as such sighted by these ‘fans’. I fully support the Director’s choice of Xu Kai Bai Lu together for the main leads.💪🏻

Their chemistry is AMAZING! The Legends quickly became one of my favorite CDramas because of their onscreen chemistry and their offscreen friendship (or possibly something more!). Arsenal Military Academy is freaking awesome and again demonstrates these two actors are great by themselves, but incredible together. I notice poor chemistry between actors a lot more now that I’ve seen Bai Lu and Xu Kai act together. So I don’t know what the hell those haters are seeing, but I love that producer for sticking to his decision and defending his cast!

Here in the Philippines, there are several actors getting paired more than twice and I don't mind at all as long as the chemistry is there and they do well. I WOULD LITERALLY GIVE EVERYTHING TO WATCH BAI LU AND XU KAI PAIR UP AGAIN. what is wrong with these people ? both bai lu and xu kai are phenomenal actors and they create magic every time they're on screen together. the chemistry they share is phenomenal and rare. I've seen both arsenal military academy and the legends , and although the prospect of seeing them together once again certainly gave me the incentive to watch one drama after the other , their characters , plotline , ambience and dynamics were completely different in the two dramas. it only made me admire them more. not once did i feel like it was getting repetitive. they can take on these roles and present themselves in an entirely new manner with different relationship dynamics. because although bai lu and xu kai are the same people , the characters they play certainly won't be the same. and i would absolutely love to see them together in a new setting creating the same magic and chemistry.

Happy to hear they will be together again. Like many have said, they have great chemistry. I loved them in the Legends. I only watched Arsenal Military Academy because of them. It turned out to be pretty good drama. Too many drama main leads have zero chemistry. With Xu Kai, he seems to light up when he acts beside Bai Lu. I would watch any drama with the two of them.

I see no problem of these two lead to getting pair up once again in a new drama. I'm honestly so happy when I found out both of them are making another collaboration since I've been waiting for it since their collaboration in The Legends and AMA. their chemistry is awesome and i don't care what their fans are gonna saying. Both were my favorite and I truly like Bailu and Xukai separately having their own career. I hope fans would stop pushing the producers from making this drama as it will disturb the whole process of making it. plus, please have respect for both of them. And Bailu is a badass💪👊 who can hold her own in a academy full of men💪 together with the rest of cast members make it an an excellent Drama watching. And the best part is xukai falls for Bailu 💑 ❤❤and she does 2 eventually ❤❤

They’re still going to watch the movie. Fans need to get over themselves. Apart or together, they are still good actors. And they have great on screen chemistry despite what happens behind the scene. If Xu Kai didn’t like Bai Lu he could’ve rejected the role. I’m a fan of Bai Lu’s acting, no matter who she’s paired with. But Xu Kai has only grown on me since watching The military academy drama. Looking fwd to another great drama from them.

Haters will always be haters...These two could stop the clock once their drama starts. I just hope they could get more support than hate and BaiLu could get more recognition since she is a very flexible actress. Their pairing is so realistic that haters can’t get over with ZuKai. Can’t wait for this drama...

Love them together. Great chemistry. Both of them can hold their own without each other. Maybe the hate is created from other agencies because this one has a winning formula.

Why complain? They're chemistry is good, acting are superb, they look good together as a pair.. I don't see any reason for them to complain, after watching the 2 drama i'm looking forward and excited to this upcoming drama..
