I'm a female senior. PLEASE can you advise which women (or youth) shoes r best for me? As follows: (1) Comfy shoes are often not in Wide Nor US size 6.5-7.5. I need Wide-toebox (XW better).. (2) Popular Wide-toe-shoes often have Humpy-arch OR Medial-post OR Narrow Midsole. ALL KILL MY ARCHES. Arch "support" is Arch-Torture. My Overpronation & decades of rough walking/shoveling caused BAD arch-sensitivity. I need TRULY-SOFT-ARCH (Langer 3D-insoles killed me).. (3) Overpronation ALSO caused inflamed tailors bunion.. (4) I need soft collar. Some NewBalance's have Abrasive-Collars.. (5) I have swelled ankle (caused by podiatrist insisting on Ace. Long story).. (6) I need heels that don't slip-out, but softly-hug (7) I need Non-Biting, roomy uppers (due to severe veins). P.S. i found SmartFit 4.5 Youth Fishermen sandals most comfy as slippers. I wear 8-9 youth-socks. Thanks!

So what’s the best shoe for over pronation that’s not tooo supportive,. Would neutral be better?

I’d recommend the Asics Kayano for a support shoe with lots of cushion. Also the Saucony Guide 17 for a similar feeling. There are neutral shoes like Asics Gel Cumulus, Saucony Tempus, and Brooks Ghost 15 which are much more supportive than other neutral shoes. Also, over pronation isn’t something you seek a natural feel for. If you’re over pronating, it behooves you to get in to motion control stability shoes. Something like a Brooks Ariel GTS or Hoka Gaviota. Beware of the Hokas heel drop and choose accordingly.

Everyone pronates

It’s necessary by your biology. Getting a stability shoe can help prevent injury. You can do resistance training to strengthen your hip flexors. This will reduce the degree in which you pronate. Unless you have collapsed arches and naturally pronate. You can test this by measuring your foot seated, then standing up to see if you measure a full size greater than seated. In this case, you should seek a motion control shoe, and strengthen your hip flexors through resistance training.

@@bobsacamano4True, though the degree to which is on a spectrum. To the same affect I could say “Everyone can run in neutral shoes.” To which extent is based on to which degree you pronate. If someone is collapsing in on their hips and collapsing their arch, they need motion control shoes. Depends on how old and active they are if that issue gets any better. So yeah, everyone pronates. But the difference between a neutral runner and someone that needs a stability shoe is stark

What if you wear orthotics?
@christianperez7846
@christianperez7846 4 ай бұрын
Every running shoe has an orthopedic plate. Building upon that plate bed, you need to consider how it changes the reaction of the shoe through your gate. You need to be specific about what your podiatrist has prescribed your orthotic for. Severe plantar fascia pain or hammer toe with inset arches. This is important to know how to move forward. Usually you want to get in to a shoe that gets rid of your orthotic, but sometimes it’s not that simple.
