If you aren't into DIY, I recommend finding a dollar store and taking a peek at the automotive section: it usually contains either a liquid or foaming tire shine product-for $1!

1cup warm water/ 2 cups coconut oil/ half teaspoon dishsoap and lemon juice. Spray bottle/ shake well. Spray to dry areas and let sit until absorbed into rubber, plastic trim, leather interior and dash. Apply a second coat if desired for extra shine.

I tried the 50-50 sugar water. I used 12 oz sugar, 12 oz water, and 2 oz ant killer. It doesn't work well (but the ants are smart enough to stay away). At first the sugar makes the tires look dark and wet, but then it later crystallizes and looks like a sugar glaze ('cuz it is). Unless you want tires that look like a honey-glazed chocolate doughnut, don't try this! Also, it's a mess working with sugar water. It's sticky and gets on the wheels. It makes a smeary mess. The spray gets on your hands, arms, and I think some even got in my eyes (which started to hurt because of the ant killer). I have hairy arms so the sticky spray was uncomfortable. At first I tried a spray bottles but both quickly got clogged. Then I used a bucket and an old shoe brush, like they use at Cobblestone Car Wash. So after I had to wash the bucket, the brush, etc. And had to take a shower. Later I will also have to re-wash my tires+wheels and re-apply real tire shine. Anyway, I recommend just paying for the professional spray tire shine. I buy the expensive stuff for $10 and it only does around 12 tires, but it's not worth the hassle of using sugar.

I use to use Johnson spray floor wax for my big black wall raised white letters after i cleaned and used a white marker on the raised lettering on my Chevelle SS back in 1971. You had to clean them well and then put on the floor wax for a high gloss like patent leather shoes.

The Coke and the sugar water are almost the same thing...ergo the same results. Had a friend in the trucking business, he used brake lfuid every once in a while. Said it actually worked well to keep tires from cracking by melding the rubber together. I wouldn't use too much of it though. The sugar water and Coke ( actually any soda with a lot of sugar in it would probably work )

Quit being so damn cheap. If you are a car enthusiast and keep your car running and looking good then cough up the bucks and buy Meguiar's Tire Shine Gel. Get a 1 1/2 " cheap ass paint brush. Pour some of the gel into a container then brush it on your tire. You don't need to use the gel liberally. Let the tires dry for 30 minutes before driving. It lasts for weeks. Best tire shine money can buy...btw...I have a 2015 Chevy Sonic and it looks like it just came off the showroom floor!

I pissed on my near side front tyre, years ago, at night time on a busy road. (being discreet,) I drove away very satisfied. Unfortunately,the piss stain lasted weeks as I never washed the car.

Use cooking oil instead

DO NOT!!! buy wet tire shine spray!!!. The oil spray gets on the brake rotors and brake pads. You are NOT!!! supposed to put oils on your brake rotors. It will ruin your rotors and brake pads. You will have to get 4 new brake rotors and new brake pads a few weeks after you spay oils on them and driving. Get ready to spend hundreds of dollars for new rotors and pads if you do it. Learn from my experience of failure. If you want the wet tire look.. get the wet tire gel with a sponge and apply the gel with a sponge and only put the tire wet gel on the TIRES!!! Not the wheels or brake rotors. You're welcome
