Nah, a sequel where a new player marketplace has opened and he types in his weapon and sees thousands selling the sword for 100 million. Then decides to put it on market for 99 million. Thinking he is now rich spends all his gold recklessly and goes months, years without selling, losing his house, everything of value while trying to sell the sword for less and less. Frustrated he finally comes back and looks carefully, notices a button and clicks on it and the lowest sell orders display for 1 single gold piece.

Bodger: "Ah yes you want to sell me a soul catcher I'll buy it for 25 gold since it's used."

I'll buy it from you for...25 Gold. What? 20 Gold is obviously a very fair offer. Oh look at you, must be nice to be so Rich you don't need my 15 Gold.

Some of my favourite games have enemies use the equipment they're gonna drop.. Titan Quest comes to mind. :D Might have been mods, to be fair.

Unless you're playing Kingdom Come Deliverance, you have to earn the best Armor in the game. The best sword is just lying in a chest in the middle of a tiny forest for some reason.

Funny enough, there's a game where that happens. I can't remember which game, right now but basically the enemy's always drop an upgraded version of the same weapon you're carrying so if you have an Iron Sword for example, the enemy always drop Iron Sword +1, +2,+3 etc. If you want to get Steel Swords, for example, you have to buy it first then the enemies will start dropping it.

3) the basic crafting system makes a better weapon 4) it has a hidden durability and breaks really quickly 5) becomes soulbound to the gear you are wearing when equipped so you can't change any of your other gear so you can never upgrade.

6) drains a bit of the PC's soul with each kill, slowly turning them into a lich Lord NPC. Irreversible curse. Can't be exchanged once soul bound

@@grundgutigertv6170 LOL, as a fairly new DM in D&D, I wanted to give my players some decent treasure after a good session, and dropped some hints that one sword was rather shiny, etc. They then badgered me for so many details, "yes it has etching on the blade" "no it's not a language you recognize" that I just accidentally blurted out "It looks like any other +1 sword!". This became a legendary story, and I got made fun of for it for at least 10-12 years.

My first thought was something similar. It's actually a cursed sword, and now the enemies he kills ONLY drop Soul Catchers. And they will only be bought for 5 gold.

This is where your acting skills come in handy as you pawn it off on someone else.

I honestly expected Adam to buy the weapon only to find he was too low level to use it, OR the weapon was cursed and took YOUR soul.

Oh! Yeah! I had a lot of weapon that my class couldn't use! Armour too heavy to my level and with bad stats! Spending gold on bad itens with great names... Good times! 😅

XD The only game that satisfied buying some stuff was only Dragon Age: Origins, bur since gold per run is limited(like ~ 60 on average, maybe up to 100 if you sell every single item you didn't equipped) you just can't buy everything(maybe not even half). But since there's not 1 main hero but party with 4 members that can be changed, buying that spare wand really helps even if not you then your 2nd mage. Also there were some unique rings as well, which hardly can be found in game(maybe in 1 count). You just need to make not scam shop selling regular loot for 10x price, but *really* unique things.

@@ednoresult4179 to be fair, it is an annoying mechanic. Each place should have levels of loot with chances to drop specific gear. Not this bullcrap of always giving tiny upgrades like many modern games uses to keep players plowing forward. It feels so unrewarding and unsatisfying.

yeah, unless it's a JRPG I don't bother buying weapons until the very end of the game but even then very few games have stuff you can buy that's better than a side quest or hidden boss drop.

One thing Bethesda was really smart on was taking a cue from New Vegas with Fallout 4 and making a bunch of unique top tier weapons bought from stores, so theres always theoretically something tk spend on. Ofc the problem with that game is that you sweat money if you loot for caps over settlement stuff, so two steps back and all that

The one with the Vikings looks pretty sneaky to me. And tbh Assasin's Creed was always ridiculed how it masqueraded as a stealth/assassin game but it really wasn't. Worse is when you buy a weapon only to be disapointed that it's very slow to swing or doesn't allow dodge cancelling because of attributes the game doesn't display when purchasing. Nothing quite like abandoning a weapon you bought because it doesn't match expectations and sticking with you previous weapon is still a better choice. Same applies to armour too, some games have bulky armour increase your hitbox meaning scatter-shot attacks can actually hit more against better armour meaning for some bosses/areas an otherwise worse choice is better.
