My puppy (~35lbs at the time, now 60 lbs) was a nightmare on a normal leash and would choke herself out on walks. I got a gentle leader and within a week the issue was resolved. She’s about to turn 7 now and I still use it for her. 🤷‍♂️

Because most trainers are “oh you gotta be nice” than get walked all over by their dog. This man trains obedient focus orientated work dogs I have a buddy at SOL Dogs that’s the same way.

And you anonymously criticize him. Have you ever been presented with a 150lb+ dog that's sole reaction was to bite anyone on the end of a leash? I've seen many extremely large dogs rehabbed in old school ways more harsh than Garrett would use. NONE of those dogs were injured or had to be destroyed. Until you put yourself online for hundreds of hours proving your methods work, stay in your lane.

I like how no trainer can agree on training tools or methods. I’ve had people say to use prong collars, gentile leads, or other, and some people say not to use them. How confusing it is to be in our position.

@SunnyinNV I used a prong collar for my pit for the last 8 months and just recently switch over to the gentile leader. She is doing great with it after a little adjustment. She is trained to walk well so the pulling thing isn't an issue.

i personally use every one of them but switch depending on the response to it theres no reason to disregard a tool that works for a specific dog the only thing i refuse to use is a retractable leash just use a long line

Honestly though, I feel like that what makes dog training so complicated. Every dog is different, some tools that work on some dogs, may not work on some other dogs.

no not necessary. just when you put it on the first time walk up and down a few times so they understand. They dont yank the neck at all like this guy is saying. Prong collars can cause serious damage on dogs that pull even without breaking the skin. Dogs shouldn't be in pain to be trained.

I was criticized for YEARS for using a herm springer on my dogs because "its so cruel". I love seeing a trainer promoting it. ❤

It's cruel, only to monsters that falsify themself as moral while causing the harm. Unlike leash pressure which behaviour only people end up using causing damage to the dog, herm springer distributes blood flow and pressure and if used with the right methods and reasons, causes discomfort not pain avoiding much more dangerous consequences

Like with all tools you have to use it correctly. I had great success with a dog I had when I was younger. He sulked for the first two hours and then he never wanted the darn thing off. He used to bring it to me when I first woke up. You're supposed to use a short lead with it so the dog can't get that far in front of you. And it's supposed to be a gentle slow pull back like when you direct a horse with split reins. Something bearly noticeable by others.

Thats a really good point, but i bet a lot of the braindead people who are going to buy this product wont take the time to learn how to use it correctly like you did. Its just so easy to accidently hurt the animal, but i gained valuable insight from your comment.

Let's be honest this was all just a Avenue to advertise the Herm Springer leash which this guy may or may not be getting paid by. There are a lot of dog trainers on KZfaq and most of them don't approach their craft from such a negative and critical point of view. It seems this guy's primary motiv is to tell people how wrong they are and how s*** the products they're using are and then to immediately advertise his services and his products. Anyone that uses this platform should know that people are coming here for advice not criticism

Yea but the same way it worked for u it can’t work for other dogs . If you have a 150+ dog on a gentle leader it’s not easy pull back it’s more of a sled

@hirotheshiba2216 you are aware that the gentle leader is designed off of halters, yes? For horses? Animals over a ton in weight? It has little to do with weight. In fact I probably wouldn't use it on smaller dogs, which it's not really advertised for anyway. I used that style on horses first, then a 70lb dog and then a 100lb dog. Worked for all of them. The 100lb dog wasn't the biggest fan (he was old, set in his ways, and much more familiar with a classic harness) but he was never hurt in corrections, just unused to it and since the harness worked just as well in his case we didn't push it. But many people have great difficulty with giant dogs and harnesses since it does give the dog more pulling power if the dog is stronger than you are.

I have used a gentle leader for a large mixed breed dog that I a 6'1" 225 pound guy could barely handle. As soon as I started using the gentle leader the dog changed and in less than an hour, I was able to walk that dog with only a pinky. After about 2 weeks, I no longer had to use it for walks in the neighborhood

It's because it actually hurts your dog's neck a lot. A herm spring prong collar is a LOT safer. A gentle leader not only strains the neck but it actually can snap a dog's neck. The type of correction that delivers is extreme. A dog would rather have an e collar done properly, a high quality one, that the dangerous leader

Using a gentle leader on a dog is almost the same as using a head halter on a horse. If you control the head, you control the animal.

Depends what kind of gentle leader you use. If it goes round both the base of the neck like a normal collar and the snout at the same time they’ll be fine.

No, your always risking injury with any use. Your using leash pressure instead of blood flow discomfort with a prong collars which is much safer

I’m a believer in all tools having a place and time, when appropriate. One dog may not do well with a prong, the next with a harness, the others with flat collars. The point of having these tools is because every dog is individual and every case warrants it’s unique set of challenges. A flexi leash might not work for most dogs, but for ones that are well trained with recall, there’s no issues! It’s a weird argument to make, especially for balanced trainers.

Depends on what the dog responds to. I've tried a slip leash, hermsprenger, and a gentle leader each with different results on different dogs. There's no one size fits all approach to any animal. "Anyone who says differently is selling you something." As is the case with a lot of dog trainers and their one size fits most approach. Use whatever gets you the fastest results and if you're unsure ask someone you see with a well trained animal what they tried.

Don't blame the tool blame the operator. I have used a slip lead on all my dogs with no issue at all it's learning how to use them correctly. I have had roughly 15 different rabbiting dogs whippets lurchers and terriers (hunting dogs) and never had a issue as I know how to use it correctly. I don't use a lead anymore after they are past the puppy stage to much of a pain in the ass. I'll stand by what I said all day and I got no interest in trying to sell u anything apart from some fresh caught meat. So if u are going to stand by what u said what's the reason u will stick on me for saying a slip is the way forward ?

@@cherylmillard2067 I'm well aware what he said. He's going off his experience in going off mine. In my experience ppl who say this dint really know how to use the item correctly. Like me I have no clue how to use a gentle leader a halti so on. If I tryd my dogs would be a nightmare. It's not the tool it's the trainer and In no way am I saying that in a bad way. It takes time to learn how to use things correctly. For example with me and a halti if I could be asked to learn how to use it I imagine they are really good on any dog. There is a reason eac dog trainer you see swear by different training tools. Because they know how to use one and not the other

A gentle leader isn’t something you should use right away no matter the dog. Yes different tools for each dog but some tools should never be introduced and all must be used with the correct training. No one tool you use will solve your issue, but honestly an E collar works in nearly alll applications

I use a gentle leader, works great with my dog. The trick is to keep the lead short and not yanking on the lead. If a dog gets too much leash it can yoink its head backwards, but its a great training tool for people who have large/powerful dogs and who don't want to use a choke/pinch chain or ecollar.

a prong collar is amazing for any big breed it evening distributes pressure in a safe way and only does that when you need to. gentle leaders are uncomfortable for any dog of any size constantly putting pressure on one side of the head.

Agreed...the prong caused one of my dogs to be more anxious and he does great on the gentle leader. I will use whatever tool that is going to get the job done with as little pressure as possible, with whatever dog is at the end of my leash and that is the end-all at the end of the day because there's different tools because there's different dogs and what's right for one isn't always right for the other but it doesn't make it wrong.

I use a gentle leader. I don't pull or yank my dogs back I simply just stop in place if the continue to pull they hurt themselves they have learned if I stop they turn around and come to my side then we start over. It all depends on the dog and the owner.

@@mjaynes288 if your dog is getting spooked and bolting frequently than you might need to work on some confidence. I cannot remember a time at all where any of my four have gotten so scared that they bolted. They are confident and more likely to run to the danger.

They don't even hurt themself, they just can't pull without turning around, so they stop pulling because they want to go forward... It also helps very well to take your dogs attention away from triggers before they get 'locked' on them.. an bring the attention to you. Never trust an idiot bashing trainingtools like this.. I've seen him hurting dogs severly with his trainingtools so he clearly doesn't know how to use any of them correctly

I mean saying youll break their neck is no different from saying owners with electric collars, choke collars, prong collars or slip leads do (insert issue). They all come with pros and cons, and all of them can seriously hurt your dog if done incorrectly. I would have assumed a dog training professional would have made note of this.

The gentle leader WORKS but DO NOT USE a 6 foot leash and let your dog gain momentum and then pull obviously that is going to hurt him ONLY USE A GENTLE LEADER ON A SHORT LEASH… The gentle leader is to train your dog to always pay attention to you it is not something that hes always going to wear

@@r.j.9822 its supposed to hurt/annoy them a little youre under the idea that the dog will keep pulling everytime … but with the gentle leader dogs realize quick that its better to wait for their owner than to try and fight… after they develop this habit you move onto a regular leash … the gentle leader is not FOREVER it is a training tool I have four dogs all of them Are trained to Walk and follow my every step FOLLOWING BECKMANS training guide for leash walking

i recently bought a gentle leader for my dog and have been using it everyday since. it’s given me a lot more control and she can’t pull me anymore (i was tired of my wrists getting hurt from the constant pulling). she doesn’t like it but she listens to me more now than she did when i was only using a regular collar on her. i have no regrets in buying the gentle leader, if she breaks her neck tryna get to another dog with the gentle leader on than that’s her fault for being her stupid aggressive self. no one tells her to try to attack every living thing that moves. with the gentle leader where the head goes the body will follow and that’s exactly how i’m getting some type of control. she even sits when i tell her to and doesn’t walk faster than me (bc she know imma yank that shit back). it’s great in my opinion.

That's because you don't have to suffer the pain and damage your causing to your dog. The herm springer would accomplish this without the leash pressure and without the pain, but rather temporary discomfort without risk of injury like your doing with the gentle leader always no matter it's use.

I'm glad to see most people aren't buying into this crap. While there are some really bad training tools and methods for all kinds of animals out there, the gentle leader isn't one of them. Like with any training tool, the correct use and temperament of the animal must be considered.

Some dogs don't like having anything around their necks, but are fine with the gentle leader, because it's light and can hardly be felt. There are also dogs who may not like a harness. Again, it depends on the dog.

The gentle leader is the best thing I ever bought for my husky. I tried a everything- spent a couple hundred on professional trainers, one of which used an E-collar and still he dragged me, lunged at other animals etc. Walks were stressful, for the both of us. Now I walk him with my pinky finger and I’ve never snapped his neck, he’s fine and under my complete control. Whatever works for the individual dog and owner I guess!

The dogmatic is amazing ! My German Shepherd who has grown much larger and heavier than me loves hers. No pressure to her muzzle and I only need to use the muzzle very gently to get her attention. I use her flat collar most of the time with her dogmatic. I also love the way that it doesn’t tighten on the muzzle and she can eat and do anything wearing it.

I live in a country where prong collars, e-collars etc. are illegal. Head collars are not. You see them quite often around here and that has been the case for ever since i can remember, especially with larger breeds. Weirdly i have never seen some kind of increase in neck problems in dogs around here nor has any of the vets or animal physiotherapists i know. Weird huh. The only issue i heard them complain about were certain types of harnesses that would restrict the dogs shoulder movement and cause issues there.

This video is intentionally misleading, I literally just used a gentle leader for the first time ever and it made the walk 200% easier. Its so easy that even a first time dog owner could figure it out. Obviously this should not be attached to a long enough leash that the dog can build momentum to hurt himself, aka, a flexi-lead when he sees a squirrel you're unaware of 60 feet away.

Yeah he kinda said that … he literally said if he gets too far ahead…but made it seem that the product is useless 🫤 Used properly these things work on lots of dogs… the fact it pulls the way it does is the point… it makes the dog stop pulling cause it’s not comfortable… prong collars on the other hand cause dogs to sound like they are choking and the breeds that typically wear them don’t give a damn and keep pulling cause they are too bull headed or tough to care. And don’t get me started on dog size… usually a dog is big and strong enough to pull their owner … it’s training that controls them and not the leash This is why I just prefer to train my dogs to be off leash… and for certain situations that legally require me to leash them I just make sure they are at least comfortable wearing them even though I know myself they don’t need them 🤷🏽‍♂️

Most dog trainers recommend placing the leash behind the ears. Even the slip leashes are used that way. They say it’s the best position to walk the dog

GL is one of the best tools that was ever made. It is a lifesaver for me. As a new dog owner, I had cuts and bruises all over my hand from the leash pulling. With GL, I am almost handsfree from day 1. I cant belive how my daily walks changed.

The poking of the gl is literally to apply small pressure to what they refer to as a “stop nerve” on the bridge of a dogs muzzle. Even if you with your finger push on it your dog will stop pushing or pulling forward

I've seen people use them and they don't have to yank it hard because the dog will automatically stop at the slightest tug on the snout. I guess that's why it's called The gentle lead. To each their own though.

I bought the Herm sprenger tech neck prong collar for my 8mo old American bully, also named Loki. And I'm not kidding, within the first few mins he understood with minimal pressure applied. I also bought a really nice Tactipup collar with a grab handle so I don't choke him out should I need to grab hold and control him.

That's Awesome 👌. A lot of folk think that the prong collar is cruel. In fact it's actually the kindest one to use, a choke chain and flat collar only pull on one part of the neck. Whereas a Herm Sprenger prong collar contacts the whole neck, no choking. I to use a Herm Sprenger prong collar on my German Shepherd × Bernese Mountain Dog. Would Recommend this collar over any. 🐾🐶🐾

Gentle leader works great! I’ve also used a germ sprenger prong collar. The gentle leader worked far quicker than the prong collar on my standard schnauzer. Both are great tools.

It works “well” because it literally strains their neck, causing pain. So obviously they’ll listen quick because they don’t want to feel pain. You’re literally an animal abuser if you use these, it’s the same concept as chock collars. They’re obedient out of fear, not a good way to treat family. But from the sounds of it, a dog to you is nothing more then that. Just a dog.

I remember him dissing harness training because it “won’t work when the dog is out of the harness” meanwhile all his dogs and the dogs he’s training are wearing like three different expensive collars at the same time and many don’t graduate out of wearing/needing said collars. It’s just weird to me how many trainers call stuff junk that will never work and meanwhile get the same results as any other trainer of similar experience who uses said “junk”.

The Gentle Leader puts gentle pressure on their nose only if they are pulling. The Gentle Leader moves their head, which includes their mouth and teeth, from the front using a down and to the side little tug towards you. The Gentle Leader is the most humane way to teach a reactive dog that goes after other dogs to calm down on a walk. As with any tool, YOU HAVE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS. If anyone has hurt their dog using a gentle leader, it's been misused, i.e., they did not take the time to read the directions before using it, or the owner is abusive. I think this guy has a problem with a KZfaq and in-person dog trainer that is well-known records and shows his client training videos. After being asked many times why HE doesn't use prong or e-collars, he made a video. A prong collar is a tool that can definitely be misused and abused.

Gentle leader just made my dog frustrated and redirect onto me ... he hated going for walks because he hated the gentle leader... guess who's a happy boy to wear a prong collar and no longer reactive? I use a halti head collar with my other dog (similar to a gentle leader but pulls head down instead of to the side. He also hated the gentle leader. Honestly use what works and use equipment properly. Just don't give to much slack on a gentle leader as it can snap their neck and cause injury if they have any momentum. Also the nose is very sensitive and full of nerves so yes the pressure is adversive like prong collars.

I did read the directions and that is why I will never use a head halter. They told me to never let the dog hit the end of the leash. If the dog bolts run with the dog applying gentle steady pressure. I know I am not physically able to get one step before most dogs have hit the end of the 4 foot. My first dog was a greyhound. Trust is dangerous. Your dog may go his whole life without bolting and then... they get stung by a bee, they get scared by a sound, they see their bestest friend over there, they decide to chase a small fuzzy, or they just get the zoomies and forget their on a leash. This is true of all dogs no matter the breed. Are you ready to run with your dog every time you give your dog some leash?

yes and you have 2 leashes if used right. One goes on collar and then other on head. I only use head part if they go out in front of me. The collar is backup for if needing to swing around. You can hurt a dogs neck if thin I do agree. Never heard of anyone breaking one Can you imagine how hard someone would have to jerk around a dog to break its neck? Has he done it in the past reason he now says not to do it?

@@viperblackjewel3915that's exactly the thing, there's always going to be people who abuse the "tool" and use it improperly. Not everything works with every dog, it's an individual matter. For me, I use a halter for my mastiff and have never had any problem with it. She's reactive and extremely agressive towards 2 specific dogs near my neighborhood, so it really has helped with being able to guide her attention away no matter the situation, and then work with her from there. I never yank it, never let her get to the end of the leash where she can accidentally yank it herself. She's never gotten hurt, never been in pain and is not bothered by it whatsoever. For me it has helped tremendously, she has learned to walk on loose leash and stays next to me no problem, and keeps more focused on me and my vets know I use it and work with a trainer who actually recommend I use it due to her reactiveness and agression. But I also wouldn't trust just anyone to walk her with it, if they're gonna just yank her head around.

Gentle leader is a game changer for walking a pulling dog. My pitbull would still pull with a prong collor and I'm not strong enough the pop the leash or turn the dog around. Gentle leader changed my life. The product specifically says not to pop the leash while using it. It is self correcting. The dog immediately learns not to walk ahead of you, and the walking issues are magically resolved forever.

Agree my pup (big boy) used to use a harness which did absolutely nothing because he would pull and he would jump because he loves people. Now he stays by me side thanks to the Halti so to say it snaps necks is ridiculous, my boys leash is always loose- no pulling!

100% agree. I once walked a Golden Doodle that ended up with a pinched nerve from a gentle leader because of the way it would bend the dog's neck every time you used it to either change direction or correct a bad behaviour.

I am confused on how this will break a dogs neck but making a car reactive rott, sit and wait for a car to go by so you can let them react just to rip them through the air with a prong collar won’t…? Go ahead and practice that on a human

There’s different prongs.. and most dogs have loose skin on their neck. He’s also not saying just use a prong. There’s levels to it and you don’t start out with just throwing on a GL which a lot of people tend to do instead of trying a slip lead first. If I’m handling a dog that tries to sprint off from the first step a GL probably isn’t the tool to use right away nor is a prong color. But a prong color is more effective because now you aren’t having to worry about your dog becoming GL aware; As they do with E-collars, or listening to one specific person in a house hold. A prong collar also gives the delusion it’s always there because it’s a collar

@@jeffstress4284 I’m referring to a different video of him “training” a rott to not be reactive. Even if whatever you said is true him using a human as an example of why he doesn’t like it doesn’t make sense because he uses prong collars, which I have no problem with for the right dog, but put a prong collar on a human and do the same thing, the human won’t like that either so it’s a terrible example. I just don’t really like his as a dog trainer in general. That why I stopped watching him a year ago, when I post this comment.

I used to use a gentle leader on my blind pittie. he was also hooked to a harness so I could guide him easier, and he was very well trained at a heel, I never used it in training a dog who didn't heel well. I think they're okay for some situations

I tried a Halti - same kind of thing as a Gentle Leader on my 8-10 month old puppy. He stopped pulling but he hated it. I also tried a prong collar. The dog preferred the prong. He' walk away from the Halti and be evasive when he saw it, with the prong he just acted the same as when we put his flat collar or harness on. Both work, but he hated the Halti. As a consequence we use the prong.

You don’t yank a gentle leader. It corrects the dog as they pull without you doing anything. You’re treating it as if it’s a prong when it just isn’t. Head halters are generally very safe when used properly.

I have a prong and gentle leader. I NEVER yank any of them it just keeps my dog from getting too distracted and I only really use it when she looks away so much she isn't paying any attention to me. I definitely use it gentle, but if someone uses it by yanking it then I totally agree with you.

Much like ecollars, prong collars, and choke chains, the gentle leader needs practice and knowledge to use right. Those who give leash corrections should not give a correction with the leader. You're supposed to use the leader to have the dog walk beside you, not letting it run around. To be fair, it does take more knowledge and reading of directions than pinch or choke chains.

Some dogs just lunge, giving it their all. I don't think a gentle leader will work as a tool to control those kinds of dogs.

This makes me so mad. I use a gentle leader every day and nowhere does it harm my dog. I have never used a prong due to my mom not wanting to. But she loves the gentle leader because she heels with it on, with the leash connected or not. It’s teaching her to heel with and without having to have it on. It’s also not meant for pulling it’s meant for heeling. 😡

Exactly! Love this tool and my 95 LB GSD heals great with it. I use a very light leash. My boy has gotten comfortable with it. I introduced it after he turned 3. By then he was well trained, well mannered and used to being handled.

A halter was the ONLY way I could take a rescued Turkish Akbash anywhere. He was untrained, unsocialized, dominant, and newly neutered. He was such a huge dog that the halter was the only way to control him.

I think people forget not all tools work with every dog. Some do better with a head lead some prong som harness. It all depends on the dog and their issues. I have used a head lead on 3 dogs and it was an amazing. The dog I am working with now the head lead helps a little but the goal is to be able to walk without one and I am going to have to find a different tool to help his leash aggression

Gentle leader worked for my big puller. He hated wearing it and after a couple weeks stopped pulling while walking with me. So I'd recommend. Only thing that I disliked about it was at first with him pulling so much, I'd have to fix it often back under his chin.

but horses are big tho. A horses neck is wider than many dogs. I think its possible to put too much force for dogs. I doubt the average person has the strength to snap a horse's neck

I’ve rehabbed a few dogs in my time and I found this particular item only any good for dogs that are lacking leadership rather than those with a ingrained fixation on pulling .. there are better products available for the latter (no not chokers or prong collars they are evil), but nothing is a substitute for putting in the work and training a puppy correctly from the onset

The first video I saw of this guy he was doing corrective u-turns with a prong on a maybe 40 lb dog. The dog yelped, and he immediately downplayed it. The funny thing is the dog's neck was cranked in the same exact way He's saying the gentle leader will so go figure.

I think that's essentially the point.. you take it out the box, you put it on the dog, the dog bolts on the long leash you have for it and it snaps the dogs neck back, it hurts and makes things terrible Because people still burn their houses down when the poptart wrapper tells you not to put it in the microwave(and other dumb things)... It's not that it's a terrible tool no one should ever use its that you need to have things right to make it useful and the average idiot with a reactive dog is already doing the wrong thing and is likely to make things worse.

I hope this is just a joke this collar works great I used it with my pitbull who gets super excited when he sees other dogs and tries to run to them scaring the sh#t out of their owners and loves pulling if I dont tire him out a little before our walk I kept him on a short leash gently correcting him everytime he saw other dogs on our walk after like 10 min he was super calm walking at my pace and is a pleasure to walk now this is a great tool its not meant to yank and snap their neck just light corrections snap the dog out of its over excited state of mind

The way he trains dogs involves a sharp snap of the leash to let the dog get out of their mental state. Not a snap to hurt, but to make them aware of you again. Having this leash and snapping could harm your dogs neck which is why he made this vid. I think it’s perfectly reasonable considering I know people who give their dogs food for barking because it makes them calmer…. People have surprising stupidity

This isn't how you're meant to use a head collar though. You're meant to use them as a gentle guide for your dog's head, not yanking on them (similar to how you control a horse's head using the reins - gently pulling them, not yanking them). If your dog lunges on their lead, you should work on that before even attempting to use a head collar.

@@lifesucks5322That's why it's a good idea to use a double ended lead with a headcollar - the other end can be attached to either a harness or a regular collar (I personally prefer martingales over flat buckle collars but either can work). That way, if you do have to yank your dog away, you can pull them on their harness or collar and not their face.

Love your content... But this tool (when used correctly) has been a lifesaver at our kennel! Many many times a prong just doesn't work... This almost always is the next best thing!

Walk the other direction and yank the prong, don’t make eye contact. It’ll hurt, but it’ll get the point across that they should be focused on you not on whatever they were focused on before

@@novasketch8658 for med/large dogs that works... But I'm a very short small framed gal... That most definitely does not work if I'm trying to control a dog that outweighs me by 60+ lbs. I have several customer pups that are pushing 200lbs

I used a Gentle Leader on my Golden Retriever her whole life. After training her with it I would let her off leash and she knew as long as the leader was on she was to behave and stay close. It was a trust thing that we built up. Each dog breed (and individual dog) is different. In my case the leader worked best for my dog.

Oh my god this unlocked a childhood memory. We used to have this for our dog (didnt work) growing up and it came with a dvd with info about using it and i used to watch it ALL THE TIME

I’m gonna have to respectfully disagree on your opinion of the gentle leader. Gentle leaders work great when you have taught your dog to walk beside you but still have some reactivity issues. I find this especially true when my mother, who has a disability, has my dog on leash. If my dog is wearing a prong collar he is still able to pull or yank pretty hard on the leash which has almost knocked down my mom several times. After that day, I told her she is only allowed to walk him while wearing the gentle leader, which make it nearly impossible for him to continuously pull on the leash if he tries running off. The gentle leader helps to easily redirect my dog and with just a few very light pops of the leash he knows to stop everything and he will reluctantly sit beside my or my mom.

Gentle leader is a great product. My neighbor had a pit bull who dragged her all over. Well one day w the gentle leader and both were walking calmly. Sorry. I disagree!

@@CountryKyle007 you gotta use it correctly. Any tool can harm a dog. A gentle leader is meant to be used for slow corrections, very slow movements so that you don't hurt ya dog. And in addition to that, you gotta put a collar on your dog and hook it up to a 2nd leash. If the dog starts sprinting forward, you're gonna rely on the collar so that the gentle leader doesn't snap the dogs neck. Learned this from a very well educated balanced trainer. It's all about how you use it! Gentle leader + another damn leash hooked up to a collar, hold on to both leashes at all times!!!!

@@KO-zi2xf Have you seen him use his hammer correction technique with the herm springer? He makes the dog yelp. I'd like to see him use this technique on Austin. I never heard my dog yelp on the gental leader and get exactly the same results.

@@luistrochez1847 as a dog trainer I’ve seen so many other trainers ABUSE prongs, e collars AND Herms. Never seen a person misuse a gentle leader though🤔 I mean yeah If you’re not educated and it’s your first dog then get advice but this is a lie 😄

True but the pain from a herm Sprenger is a controlled pinch by design. These things torque your dogs neck unintentionally if they were to rapidly pull.

Gentle leader changed me and my dogs life forever… After 9 years, we (me and my dog) can FINALLY relax on our walks - no more constant tugging pulling or fighting. It really feels like a miracle and I don’t have to DO anything to my dog to get this response
