I actually completely get why Ben broke up with Margo. The fact that her opinion of their relationship is that it wasn’t that serious, when they’ve clearly been dating for several months exclusively at that point, was a major red flag. Also the fact that she was agreeing with some other guy who was making fun of Ben, was also really shitty. He wasn’t supposed to overhear that conversation, which means that’s probably how she actually feels as well. They honestly never seemed that compatible to me in the long run, and they are clearly on two different wave lengths regarding their relationship. I’m quite proud of Ben for ending it now before he was inevitably going to end up disappointed later on.

I get why Ben broke up with her. She never once congratulated him on getting into Columbia. She blew him off to act cool in front of that guy when they were dating for several months at that point. And the guy she was talking to was making fun of him and she was laughing and agreeing along. Margo has this habit of trying to act like she's too good for Ben and it finally rubbed him the wrong way.
