I remember watching her as a kid: this tiny, exquisite redhead - her hair streaming down her back, singing 'Angel From Montgomery'. Her father was a storied and mega famous Broadway performer who originated some of the 20th centuries greatest musical roles. I initially knew her through my appreciation of him. She's a powerhouse on her own, though. I adore her bluesy rock. You won't go wrong with anything she creates.

Bonnie is one of just 2 or 3 artists to be listed on Rolling Stone's Top 100 vocalists *and* Top 100 guitarists. Her performance of "I Can't Make You Love Me" reduces strong men to puddles. I love Bonnie Raitt. She is a great guitarist, but her vocals hit me hardest. My oldest and closest friend introduced me to her music in the 70s. Back then, her music made me laugh, made me dance, and made me cry. I am in my 70s now, and her music makes me smile, and tap my toes, but it can still make me cry. I would suggest listening to Tedeschi Trucks band "Midnight in Harlem." Susan Tedeschi sounds as though she was influenced by Bonnie.

Bonnie is one of the best slide guitarists there is. There are samples of her sitting in with all of the big names in rock and roll. Her early stuff was kick-ass blues. Over time she mellowed a little bit and found more ballady niche. A fun duet is her playing "Women Be Wise" with Sippie Wallace, the woman who wrote the song in 1938. Other great songs are "Give It Up", "Got to Know How", "Wah She Go Do?".

It happens to mere listeners and pro players. Bonnie is all about emotions and story telling. In your spare time, check out her song "The Glow", no matter how many times you see "I can't make you love me" recommended. Beautiful agony turned art form. My favorite of Bonnie’s is a John Prine classic, Angel From Montgomery and Home, also I Can’t Make You Love Me. Susan Tedeschi also does a great Angel From Montgomery - but anything she does is unbelievable. Love ya Sebs! One of the main reasons I love watching your reactions is that I know exactly what and how you feel about great music. You put it into words perfectly. There are people I know, friends and family and the like, that just don’t get how special music is to me. IMO it’s one of the greatest blessings God gave me, (and the rest of the world!) and I’m so thankful for it. 💙🎶

Love your heartfelt emotional response. There are just some artists that are truly authentic to themselves Bonnie is one of those artists. Very well respected in the industry. Listen to her You can’t make me love you. That song makes me feel things. She’s wonderful

She’s been putting out albums since the early 70s. She had a particularly huge song on radio for which she won a Grammy in 1991, called Something to Talk About. You should definitely hear it. Also, I Can’t Make You Love Me is a must listen - as other commenters have been suggesting

Bonnie and Stevie Nicks (and a few other female artist) are just so confident, competent, out spoken that sex appeal just exudes from them into the air. You cannot help but just want to stare, listen and long to stay in that spell forever.

That chord was a 7th chord. 7th chords have that half step note in them that adds a perfect transistional tension to grab the ear.

Oh how I wish you'd checked out Bonnie's "I Can't Make You Love Me". That song will make you FEEL. It will break your heart while at the same time appreciating what an amazing song it is. I think most of us can relate to the emotion Bonnie puts into it.

Her rendition of Angel from Montgomery is one of the single best songs ever recorded. If you listen to that you also check out the song writer John Prine who is a huge influence on people like Raitt, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Brandi Carlile, among others.

The first time I heard Bonnie, she was singing background on a Jackson Browne album. I searched out her name and bought her album straight away, lol. Been a fan of Bonnie since the 70's ❤

Welcome to some of the best female artists ever. Bonnie Raitt is simply awesome. Try Carly Simon, Emmy Lou Harris, Rita Coolidge and you will discover that Linda Ronstadt was not the only great vocalist of the 60's...she was simply the best of the best.

Sebs, I love your videos and your genuine appreciation for a wide range of music. Your interaction with your wife is fun to see. You might want to consider Bonnie’s Feels Like Home. Also, her life story including sneaking into NYC to play in blues clubs as a teenager is interesting and different.
