Ural in the 867 start date is one of my personal favorites. Easy path to reforming Turumic, easy to form an Empire, and strong starting position relative to your neighbors.

I like the turumic religion a lot cause it is super easy to reform andit has the hunter and witch traits are virtuous, and the permic culture has the woodlands archers so you can roleplay sort of as a druidic dinasty founding a witch coven. And if you reform the permic culture aswell to get hunt and forest related stuff makes for a pretty cool playthrough😄

I hate how bland the gameplay outside of Europe can be, it has potential especially in the steppe but the events are so aimed towards a feudal european experiance.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think CK3 should concentrate even more on the European feudal experience. The area to cover and polish is too large as it stands now and it affects performance.

I remember one time I was playing a game in this region and I conquered Persia, imagine my shock when I found out that the newly conquered territory already made up over 90% of my income, thats just how useless the land up in Siberia is. Good video!!!

Strange I had fun in my own campaign there because I created an unique fate. Only Greedy and Coward were sins, while vengeful, hunter, temperate, brave, generous, witch and giant were virtues. I used the Siberian fate as the template. Made Witch virtues and exchanged its tenant with these ones. Unrelenting faith. Sacred Murder and Cthonic Redoubts. It was quiet interesting to see so much stability because there weren't so many sinners my fate never diverged like what constantly happens with catholic fate. During my run these were the high lights. -I had family feud that killed 4 of my characters before I finally got the culprit. - My realm split because of the inheritance law. And also cause the age of crisis as I would call it now. I was constantly at war as a defender for two generations. Or called up to defend my allies. this lasted for 50 years and constantly when I was about to end the war a new one came up. Sometimes of the same nation as the peace time was up.Then I made a simple solution. I didn't ransom my prisoners any more that were rulers that declared was on me. I just executed them and their realms broke apart weakening them and because victims of their other neighbours. -Survived later a great holy crusade and Jihad at same time for the same territory and thus it became 3 dogs brawl. -And finally face the great Khan himself. Overall it was a fun game because it was never really boring.

The addition of China Trade Routes and other Nomadic related content should add alot to the region.

The region drastically needs some attention from the devs, but hear me out, there is still some interesting stuff to do there. The regional religion (Turumicism?) has some 3 holy sites in reasonable proximity (the other two are east way into Mongolia), and being a witch is virteous, so founding a witch coven without fear of persecution is great. And there are some cool things to do with cultures - for intance, around about east Permia there is a Shaz Turkic culture (Bashkir) with Forest Folk, horse lords, which gives horse archers, and malleable invaders traditions, with many Baltic / Ugro / Finnic cultures nearby with the Forest Wardens tradition, which gives specialist Tiaga Archers. Bother traditions give development buffs, and they stack! So you can get *huge* development rates going in your forests. Some other the cultures have Stoicism, helps with health and stress, traditions including prolific hunters and xenophiliac. If you're clever you can plan out a series of culture merges and make an advanced culture of deadly but loved forest witches

You can move a gathering point for your armies to a province closer to your next enemy, so you don't have to march all the way through your lands after starting the war.

I've always wanted to do that honestly, seeing how disunited and underdeveloped that area of the game is. A nicely shaped empire would make the map just that much better! Great video!

If you like such "out of pocket" goals I'm currently doing CK2 Economic Challenge in Siberia (to test how much prosperity events can I squeeze) on Paradox Forum (AAR section). At the moment I'm 250+ years in run a few things that I noticed: - No matter how much did I want to limit my conquest it isn't doable with Raiding Nomadic neighbours - good luck beating full cavalry armies with tribal levies :)". And you need to stay independent to have access to Prosperity crown focus, - Supplies and winter do not chose sides - I've seen raiders attritioning down to 500 men and I regularly lose 1-2.000 men while moving in my own lands during winter (That last longer in this part of year) despite having rather high military organization tech. Seen people suggesting going for strenght of numbers but it isn't really doable against Nomads if you are in Siberia. Also distances between provinces aren't exactly small. It became so funny that sometimes with Winter Specialist I do have more supplies in winter than in summer, - Not only Volga-Ural/Tartaria have the least holding slots on the map but also vast swats of previous nomadic lands have exactly 0 technology meaning it will take time before you are able to build anything in cities/temples, - Usual poor tribal priorities - I like how all of sudden siring several children and waiting for succession before conquest is great. Those marriage alliances give you way more than gold from business focus or extra levies from Martial. Was experimenting for first 100 years with corrupt councillors, as they generate 100g to confiscate. Nice change of pace for looking the most corrupt Marshal/Realm Priest. - It looks funny when you have tribal huts next to Piramids/Great Walls under construction, - Doing long distance raiding without ships is also "an experience" - when your capital is in Perm but you are fishing for prisoners in southern France it does teach player how to avoid "out of supply" attrition,

you can set the point where your army spawns closer to the enemies borders, it will help with the attrition issue a lot!

they put that region in because of old ghengis khan. You can't leave him out of the game. so they had to add all that fodder for him to conquer as well...

It's a bit of a pain to see you raise your armies in the West when you declare war in the East, and subsequently lose half of it to attrition because you didn't set a proper spawn/rally point...

Ive played most of my games in eastern africa with coptic faith or up in siberia with the turmeric faith. More fun in my opinion

What's not fun in that zone is the Mongol Horde. I got obliterated by them. I started in the Kazym county. Had the Empire of Siberia. Development is rock bottom around there.

The engine models the Western European feudalism quite well, but for all the rest of Eurasia to the East from HRE this model is just irrelevant.

Tribal starts are just not very interesting in any region. Viking tribes are a bit better because of Northern Lords so hopefully other tribal areas get some love from Paradox.

Back before when there weren't so many dlcs in this game i used to be able to play it on my dogshit pc and sometimes i used to play on this area but i would always make a ruler myself and would make him ortodox christian. Now imagine that pain. Since u can't have no allies and everyone in ur court hates u hahaha still it is possible to make others ortodox and change religion in the area making the play through enjoyable
