Designed to feel like a New York style apartment yet appropriate for a regional setting, The Brook is a fully off-grid, transportable small house design that explores the use of recycled and restored materials. The double-height created by the expandable roof not only creates an additional sense of space and room for storage, but allows for a walkable height mezzanine level to accommodate a bedroom and home office. The ladder to the mezzanine also folds up to allow for more living and dining space. Through the clever utilization of space and thoughtful selection of materials, The Brooke feels like the perfect combination of luxury and rustic living. That is because this house is not build for people in that category. It's made for 1 or 2 Adults in their 20-37. There are enough houses to facilitate elders and families with kids. Just take a look at the market and you'll see houses are sepcifically build for certain target groups@@BoopSnoot

The living beyond one's means, the western sprawl of individuals living in giant houses consuming 4x more than other humans was perfected in America... and look at them now. Americas consumption rate is not only bad for the planet, its bad for Americans. @@scientifico your hatred for America is silly. America is a great country and filled with wonderful people. If you are here and don't like it, please leave. If you are not and still don't like it, please don't come. While I do agree that people all over the world should live within their means, just because someone can afford to buy a bigger house than someone else, it does not mean they are all the outrageous stuff you accuse Americans of. America is big, and depending on where you live, what a person can afford scales drastically. If you are in one of these costal cities with an insane population, then you will not be able to afford nearly as much as say in the countryside. You say some nasty stuff about Americans, yet out of all the places in the world people want to live and to migrate to - America is or very near the top. No one travels thousands upon thousands of miles to live in an evil place. And just because someone loves America, does not automatically mean they hate other countries. I have meet a lot of people from many places all over the globe. I wish I had time to visit all these wonderful places. I do love America and am eternally grateful to have been born here. I most certainly do not hate other countries. I truly hope your warped perception of America changes. We have some great places filled with wonderful people. And if someone wants to live in a big home, they should be allowed to if they can. Just like if someone wants to embrace the minimalistic side of things and live in a small, tiny home, they should be allowed to.

"take" being the proper word because these "architects" have concepts as stolen as the land they're on. Tired of seeing poor and BIPOC peoples' alternative living concepts/designs taken over by privileged entitlement and then celebrated as someone else's genius. All on genocided lands. I've watched a lot of tiny home videos and this might be my favorite by a long shot! It does not seem as small as it is with the amazing design used. I really love that the bedroom is not a crawl space as most of these places are and that the bed isn't flat on the floor. With the drawers under the bed I don't think storage would be an issue, which is saying a LOT for a tiny home! Just gorgeous. Everything is so well thought out. Even the towel bar in the bathroom is just perfectly placed. Love love love it

Having lived in a 399sqft tiny house(thats counting the porch) for 3+ years now, I can tell you the trick is having many windows, light colors inside and just an open mind on how to store things. A tall living room ceiling(like this one) doesn't hurt either. I see so many dark/wood colored tiny houses which are fine for a vacation, but if you plan on living in one long term, you'll get depressed/stressed over time without many windows.. Light colors also make the space seem much bigger.

Haha good one. The dogs a japanese spitz, my family has owned 3 of them, one of which has passed due to old age. It's an extremely cute breed. Although, unfortunately a very stubborn, demanding and barking breed. But getting to cuddle with a cloud of fur makes it worth it.

Thinking outside the box! Love it. The one thing I don't like about tiny houses is the crammed loft spaces. This is a brilliant solution to that problem. You've got to be able to stand up in your bedroom, imho. The bathroom also has plenty of room to maneuver. That's important too. It's amazing how spacious the whole thing feels.

I love how the spaces flow from one into another. In most tiny homes the placement always feels compact or overlaying. In this someone could be in the kitchen, dining room, living room, home office without being in each other’s space

This is something of a dream house of mine. The way this space is utilized is fantastic. I think I would've done the whole office space a bit differently though. It's important to have a proper chair to support your body for extended periods, especially in this day and age of digital workflow. Personally I would make the dining table a workspace and put a table in that empty living room space as a place to eat since most people who live alone or as a couple take their food to their couch anyways. Other than that, this is something I would want in my life.

Lots of cool ideas but I’m skeptical about how practical some of the features would actually be, for example the hanging desk seems like it would be a nightmare for ergonomics if you used it for more than 30 minutes.
@carolz5090
@carolz5090 2 жыл бұрын
Agree regarding the desk, the hard seat would also be an issue as well as back support. Still, it’s a really interesting concept that only an architect would create. I’ll certainly enjoy thinking about it and other possible applications for a drop down from the loft level.

I actually liked the desk the most, because desks can easily take up so much space and I often take my feet up on my chair anyways or end up sitting and working on the floor. But it would be lovely if that floor was cushioned around the desk area.

@@getasoul3990 They clearly know what they're doing. That desk is no different that sitting on a bench, which many people can do for long periods of time. The raised roof, genius. The stairs tucking away to save space, genius. The floor storage is also genius because every single piece of storage matters in a tiny space. As for your notion that 'alleviate and 'encase' are 'big words', I cock my left eyebrow at you.

Yeah they threw around all kinds of hashtag buzzwords. It's interesting, but this place feels like it could use better interior design to help make some of the things flow better, like the desk. I'm guessing that after a hour or so of being uncomfortable, the person living here will just setup a proper spot where they can easily get up and grab a drink or go to the restroom.

I like the thought that you went for the dark grey interior because you wanted the outside to be the show, but at the same time so much of the grey hides some of excellent craftsmanship and uniqueness that went into the place. The inside is just as much a show because of the details. Well done!

I love the idea of the huge crank to move the ladder with the pretty hand railing. The floor design is aesthetically imaginative and makes it calming and feels airy and large. The raised floor space for the ladder and the bench is nice. I love the sliding door that hides the bathroom but reveals the shelving. I love the outside circular floating stairs too.
