In the quiet, residential neighbourhood of Ghim Moh Link, Singapore, Project 26 was designed by interior design studio Resistance with a dramatic first impression in mind. The entryway features a floor to ceiling dark green palette that flows directly into the kitchen where it’s accented with a white backsplash and blue countertop. The bold colour separates the kitchen and laundry from the rest of the home, and designates it an ‘active’ space in contrast to the soft white palette of the living areas. The living room itself has raised furniture and concealed storage to maximise the feeling of space, and this continues into the bedroom where large windows and adjustable storage allow for future flexibility. A bifold door to the bathroom opens up yet more floor space, and white tiles throughout enlarge the room visually. This consistent look paired with materials selected for their ability to patina over time, give the home an authentic, warm feeling perfectly fit for a small home in an area making room for newer, younger residents.

I love the green colour, and the contrast between the living room and the kitchen, however there isn't enough natural light and it ends up making the kitchen too dark.

Yes, it's very practical. When I designed my kitchen in the seventies, I used a 6-plug 48"/1m20 builder's power strip on the bottom of the upper cabinets. So much more practical than installing individual ones on the wall.

i dunno... i leave several appliances plugged in 24/7 sitting on my counter. (e.g., the water kettle that i use daily). it would be more visually unappealing to have a cord dangling down to it..

I really like the concept of coming into the unit in a "darkened" area and then walking into a very bright open space. Makes the light area feel so much bigger. Blue countertops are a major plus and very unexpected. For me, I would have enclosed the closet area in the bedroom just because of my clutter at times. Great small space with so much storage. A++

Probably the best Ryan’s kzfaq.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

So many thoughtful choices in this beautiful apartment, I found myself irrationally pleased by the placement of the bar for drying clothes; and the storage in the living room which hides 'clutter' but also ensured everything inside was clearly visible and therefore usable. This is one of my favourites though I'd personally choose a slightly different colour scheme.

Easily goes in my toop 5 ! Not a green guy but easily switchable. You could also add curtains or sliding doors to isolate the living from the kitchen (with doors, you could reuse the holed panels with green on the entrance side and white on the other, but it's a bit more of clutters when not in use). I'm so mad at french appartments (especially "more than 20 yo ones") when I see floorplans of appartments in Asia or Australia...

i am confused by having the laundry drying rack in the kitchen. All clean clothes will smell like food cooked next to it. I also wish they used sligding doors instead of foldable for the bathroom - they could be sliding to the spice behind the bedroom doors. Overall great design and the color contrast is great. I am slightly worried about their comment that epoxy floor will show the traffic of using the flat - it will just look not fresh to have paved pathways.
@ryannatividad3137
@ryannatividad3137 Жыл бұрын
I don't think they had anywhere else to put the drying rack, it doesn't appear that there is any small balcony or anything like that. I guess you just have to be cognizant of when you're cooking vs. when you have clothes drying/hanging. I also agree that the epoxy might just look old rather than beautifully patinaed in a few years time. I sort of wish they had just opted for white tiles, or some terrazzo/terrazzo tile. Maybe the epoxy was chosen as a way to manage the budget too.

Green is my favorite color. I would prefer white kitchen cabinets with green countertops. The small tiles with dark grid don't appeal to me, either. I love the white epoxy floor, the dark entryway, the concealed living room floor-to-ceiling closet, bi-fold bathroom door, sacrifice of bathroom door to kitchen for larger kitchen space and perforated screen. Personally, I would attach a white padded headboard to the wall for comfort and aesthetics. Agree with others about hidden outlets and switches in kitchen, both pro and con. I would have the fridge open towards kitchen. I think all kitchen appliances need a space up off countertops and doors to conceal them when not in use. TFS and Happy Earth Day!

It probably does open up the small bedroom space by not shrinking the room further...I just don't trust myself to be able to keep a tidy and aesthetic closet organization, so will always opt to minimize visible storage as much as possible (with the exception of intentional display shelving). I would probably opt for a standard Ikea style wardrobe with mirrored doors in that corner instead. The mirrored doors would help visually extend the bedroom and bounce light nicely.
