Thinking a lot about getting back into boating, and am enjoying your channel. Had to pop in to say I love your shirt! Made me chuckle…

Thanks! and thanks for watching! (I have many other boat shirts like that... "But did we sink?" "My boat, My rules", "Captain", "I'm gonna need a bigger boat" (this one is great to wear at a boat show for all the sales folks I run into).

@@Letsgochannelsurfing Love it - My favorite is the one you're wearing on this video - "But did we sink?" I rented a small boat for a family trip a few years ago at Sister Bay, WI - very fun, but the water was a little choppy a few times - could have used that shirt. The grand kids enjoyed it, though! Thanks again for the channel!!!

Martin, thanks for your help with the installation on my Cutwater C28 earlier this year. There was very little information on how the system would work with the Volvo Penta D-4 diesel, even Lenco wasn't sure about it. However, as soon as I did the calibration, I was up and running without a hitch. The Auto Glide system is everything that you have said it is. It is the top upgrade of many on my boat.

That's awesome to hear! I'm also glad you were able to get it installed on your C28. I remember the challenge that the new switch has 1/4" less threads and the C28 has upholstery making the dash thicker, thus the threads won't grab. The Lenco manual talks about how to calibrate for an inboard engine, so I knew it should work for an inboard. I just didn't know how effective the Autoglide would be. Good to know it's a fantastic upgrade even for the inboards.

Hi Martin Thanks for telling me about autoglide. I have an R-25 on order and it will be my first add-on. Can you tell me will the installation be the same as what you have outlined on your 27?
@Letsgochannelsurfing
@Letsgochannelsurfing 10 ай бұрын
Install is similar. The floor plan layout on the 25 is different than the 27. You would pull out the refrigerator and installing the controller using the L bracket behind the refrigerator.

Great video. You mentioned autoglide was in the top 3 upgrades. Can you tell me the other 2?
@Letsgochannelsurfing

Of all the upgrades I've done to Channel Surfing, the top 3 are Autoglide, Solar Power, and 320ah of Lithium Iron Phosphate house battery.

Thanks for another great video! Does Autoglide somehow know how to compensate for heavy chop, i.e. deploy the tabs further down, to keep from porpoising and slamming down on waves? I assume you wouldn't normally run the tabs very far down in still, flat, calm waters. Thanks again!
@Letsgochannelsurfing
@Letsgochannelsurfing Жыл бұрын
The Autoglide does recognize heavy seas and will lower the tabs to keep the bow down aiding in the ability to stay on plane at slower speeds while maintaining visibility over the bow.

Love the channel! Fellow submariner and PNW boater here. I’ve been boating in the PNW for the last ten years. I sold my last boat last winter because it was time for an upgrade (and the offer was crazy). I’m trying to decide between the R27 OB, a C28, a Jeanneau NC 895 offshore, or a C30 sedan (probably prohibitively expensive). I really wanted bow and stern thrusters if possible. One question: do you think it would be possible to add a stern thruster to your model with OB? Interested in your thoughts. Thanks.
@Letsgochannelsurfing
@Letsgochannelsurfing Жыл бұрын
The Yamaha F300 is the best stern thruster possible. I rarely use my bow thruster, actually. I drive the boat forwards and backwards quite a bit as well. The bow thruster can't overcome wind or current. But driving the boat in reverse can. A stern thruster is unnecessary with the outboard.

@@Letsgochannelsurfing thanks. I figured as much. Just curious. Any thoughts on the boat options I listed (besides the R27)? Also, what is your efficient normal cruising speed fully loaded out with provisions for a week trip with two adults? 23kts ish? GPH?
@Letsgochannelsurfing
@Letsgochannelsurfing Жыл бұрын
The C28 is a diesel inboard, and its WOT is around 22knots. It's very similar to that of an RT27-Ob in the way of size of boat. The cruising speed on the RT27-OB is 25 knots (WOT around 35 knots). The RT27-OB, cruising at 25 knots will burn about 18-21gph. The C30 is also a diesel inboard boat, with a 10' beam, and is quite a bit larger (and more expensive) than the RT27-OB. The RT27-Ob is faster than the C30. The Jeanneau NC895 is very similar to that of the RT27-OB. The styling is very different in my opinion. Looks like a condo on the water in my opinion. The Ranger Tugs have a more nautical look, with port holes and teak. But this is more of a personal preference. I really like the capacity of the RT27-OB. 150 gallon gas tank, 5 gallon diesel fuel tank (for heat), 40 gallon fresh water tank and a 30 gallon black water tank. That gives us up to about 10 days away from a dock.
