And collectively that could affect the result. But I can’t see a manager or club instructing their players to not play for a result they need. It was not at all surprising that QPR showed up and fought that day in 2012. It's not like they were on the coast and done with the season. They avoided relegation by a single point at the end! Bolton drew 2-2 at home against Stoke, QPR knew that if Bolton were to win against Stoke then they (QPR) would go down with anything less than a win against City.
