Yes some other videos have too much handlebar footage at 30mph. Eg fireblade stuck behind a van… so a mix of viewpoints is more interesting. The 360 cam is good too. I know other youtubers do the speed work so the off bike stuff may be your strength.👍😎

I've said this before and I'll say this again: it's not the lack of the trellis frame missing that has me upset. I'm glad the monster has lost so much weight tbh. But it's the budget suspension with 0 adjustment that's annoying. It's a ducati in 2021, man. Should have had adjustability, especially for the price they're charging.

An interesting fact, the monster designer, Galluzzi was working for honda when he sketched the design, he eventually ended up a cagiva and was given access to parts and an assistant to do a prototype. The monster hit big and pulled ducati out of a hole. The story is well worth a read.

I know we’re not supposed to question the Ducati design house, but to my eye they’ve just been making monsters worse looking for the past … well nearly 15 years. At least Suzuki realised their mistake and after following Ducati down the gladiator road switched the style of suzi monster back to the traditional styling. Who’d have thought the SV650 would end up being the better looking monster? Tbh it’s also the one I’d actually buy
@78Outlaw
@78Outlaw 2 жыл бұрын
First Monster was a design classic, the loss of the trellis is a big mistake, when you see MV still using for the Brutale or KTM for the SuperDuke, a big mistake imo, might add the old Ltwin Des 1200 was a 145hp brute… so 111hp leaves me cold.

@@78Outlaw the 111 is ok you don’t need a lot of power although my monster has 132 at the wheel. For me it is the just inevitably of luxury brands appealing to the masses. Ducati is more of a lifestyle brand than a passionate enthusiast brands these days. However it’s the same for everything. There is always more money by appealing to more people than by appealing to a narrow niche except in exceptional cases

Very nice vid. I particularly liked the back & forth editing between the riding footage & walk around. Only criticism is that it was a bit short but I understand the circumstances probably didn't allow for more. As for the bike, I do like it but I'm a little put off that it has no suspension adjustability as rarely do I find standard suspension settings to my liking & I enjoy having a tinker to fine tune them.

America always gets the off-brand turn signals, first for my Honda Monkey, and now if I were to get the ducati monster I might as well get some parts-bin boring non-sequential types to accommodate the DOT Standards. Just found this review after owning one for almost a year and put 6k miles in it. I’m a bit of a Ducati fan boy having had a Hypermotard 1100S for 96k but the new one is too tall which is why I went for the new Monster. Love it. My mate and I were walking on the Bristol Downs one summer afternoon back in the mid 90s, and we stopped to stare at a red Ducati Monster. It was just that good looking a bike. Lots of other people saw us looking, and they also stopped to watch it travel round the curve of the road, with the suspension bridge in the background. It was a magical moment and a legendary bike. This new one, in comparison, looks like plenty of other bikes on the road. Mediocre.

It's cool that you change up the videos by editing in small clips of you standing next to the bike and then editing back. It gets a bit formulaic after a while to go for a ride, then go off and walk around it, and then riding again. Does it have cruise control? At least it has a fuel gauge this time around so that's always something... Mind-boggling that it didn't have one previously

The 821 was way heavier and slower than its rivals (MT-09, Street triple R & RS and KTM890R) now it's a match for them all, minus the heavy trellis frame.

Hello good Sir ! Do you think the price difference between this bike and a suzuki gsx s750 is justified or is the ducati a bit overpriced ? Performance-wise they are similar. The suzuki is heavier and lacks some of the features that this bike has, but for example in Denmark, the price difference between the two is 7.5k euros, which is a significant amount. The ducati is still very tempting though, because of its beginer friendly features.

Nice bike, Andy. I bought a Ducati SuperSport S, and love riding it. Same engine as the Monster. I replaced the rear end with a tail tidy as you suggested. Mine is a 2020,, but wish I bought a 2021, to get the new TFT screen, as mine is hard to see. The mirrors are too narrow to see past my shoulders. All in all a good bike, but not superb.

Ducati just can't get the plumbing to look good on the Monsters. Piping protruding everywhere. I had 4 air-cooled Monsters, but the water-cooled ones are a mess. Triumph do a waaaay better job. Speaking of which, why isn't the Street Triple 765 RS listed as a rival? Exactly same price in UK, with Ohlins (but not cornering ABS). Doesn't look like you can remove pillion pegs too, which is a shame. Ducati don't clearcoat their lesser models too, another annoying thing for a so called premium brand (Triumph manage it at same price point).

For 8 days in Provence 3 wks ago, my daughter rode one of these whilst I rode an 800 scrambler. Monster is fab as you say. But in traffic (eg returning to Nice) both bikes seriously cooked the rider's right leg. I would not buy either for this reason but great fun otherwise.

It is tempting me as a potential replacement next year if I decide to pull the trigger and I've always trusted your reviews. Surprised that you didn't include the Street Triple in this comparison. Similar power, similar weight and similar cost. Sure, the displacement is not the same but that doesn't really matter nowadays imo.

I have this bike and although great it does come with issues (from Ducati) not the bike as such. Ducati wont release the ECU codes to any aftermarket ECU tuners or aftermarket exhaust manufacturers yet. I have been told they may not release for some time. Therefore we are stuck with either paying over £2000 for a Termignoni system or end up with just a silencer that doesn’t do much. I want to decat mine but SC Project said they have no plans for some time (due to Ducati). This bike is hiding likely 20bhp under there, my mate has a KTM 890R and has it mapped to 135bhp. I am certain this Monster could be the same but Ducati are stopping this. So much so I am considering changing the bike, Yamaha, KTM, Aprilia on all their new models have released ECU codes, just not Ducati.

Nice review Andy! It's odd I haven't seen more reviews of this bike yet. A couple of things that I have noted on this bike. The headlight apparently (dipped beam) doesn't come on unless it's dark? Resulting in flicking headlights when you go into and out of darker areas! (I don't have one, but I saw a review that stated this. It was in America, where I live though) Also, in the US, the indicators can't do that fancy 'growing' effect due to legal requirements so they are just ON/OFF here. Might be something to check on with the European version of the bike you have. Cheers! -Alan.

If it’s the same as other Ducatis, then the DRLs are on all the time and the dipped headlights come on automatically in dark areas. If you want to change that, you just turn it from automatic. Not strange though, the last three cars I’ve had also do this.
@Desmo904
@Desmo904 2 жыл бұрын
@@aunoates6617 That was what I meant really. The DRL's are on all the time but the dipped light comes on when the lights detect it's dark enough. In the review I saw the dipped lights flicked on/off as they rode under trees.
