I’m not a professional you tuber, so please disregard the quality of the video. I just like to have fun with fog on Halloween.
I’ve had a few people ask me to make a low lying fog chiller using regular ice instead of dry ice and a 400/500 Watt Fog Machine. So…. Here is a video using a 500w Amazon fog machine, a bag of ice, 5 gallon bucket and 1.5” PVC. I made this chiller back in 2017, so I took it out of storage for this video.
In the video, I state the fog fluid is $19.99, I checked on Amazon and it’s actually $29.99

Dampen grounding around the front of fog chiller helps fog to stay low and roll.Cooler ambient temp helps keep the fog low.
@roguea987

That is because, it is the humidity bonding with the glycerin in the fog that keeps it low hanging. Recently watched a video, guy used a ten head pond fogger in an aquarium, no ice, and the fog stayed low and hung around longer. That is why the creep from the wet ice chiller is better. That fog is passing over the melting ice and picking up more humidity as it isn't being forced through the chiller so fast.

Years ago I built a similar fog chiller using the largest plastic insulated igloo cooler I could find. Same PVC pipe and the same rubber reducer on the intake tube. The longer space helped give the fog more time flowing through the ice. But your 90 degree elbow putting the fog above the ice might actually work better since it has to fall through the entire column of ice. But those buckets are thin plastic so you probably go through ice faster. Moving the fog machine nozzle further away from the chiller intake allows air into the tube with the fog and also helps keep the pressure inside equal to the outside pressure so the chiller fog will keep flowing even when the fog machine is not actively generating a stream of fog. If the fog machine nozzle seals against the intake it restricts airflow.

That noise wasn't a pump cleanliness issue, it was the fog machine not registering fluid in the tube. The pump needs to warm up and gather fluid in the tube first. When you turn ur machine on first let the fluid get through the entire tube by letting the machine run with that noise for a few seconds.

You need to use the correct fluid for this to work correctly! you can get high density fluid which has a fast disapate, meaning it stays low, but as soon as it gets to knee height it dissapears. Normal fog fluid wont work, unless its a really cold, dense atmosphere.

Do you find the smoke, stays lower better if it actually touches the ice? I have mine going through a dryer vent in a tub thats filled with ice. So the smoke never makes contact with the ice. Also I guess smog bog or swamp juice made by froggys, is really thick and if chilled properly stays low. Im going to get some and let you know. Im in Oregon, and when I tried my setup with regular lowes fluid. it was mhhee.
@JeremyPrend
@JeremyPrend 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had pretty good luck doing both methods. It really depends on the outside ambient temperature. That said, if the fog actually touches the ice, it does cool the fog a bit better. If the ambient air temperature is warmer, using a coiled up vent tube with ice packed around the tubing should work fine. It will also help the ice last longer. If Oregon is anything like where I live, October 31st can range from a blizzard to 90 degrees. Lol. So if you can check the temperature of your fog output once it goes through the coiled vent, if it’s say 45 degrees and it’s say ambient temp of 65, you should get good results. If it’s colder outside, ice contact will help a little more. But the ice will also melt faster. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hopefully you get lucky on Halloween with the wind. Last year I had to put up some silt fencing bc it was really windy out. It helped a lot. However, low wind is always better.
